What planes do you find yourself flying the most, and why?

Featured Replies

Most time for me is spent between the Fenix A320, and the PMDG 737, and the FBW A320. For low and slow the Cessna 414. Oh, and to get my long haul fix X Plane 12 and the Toliss A340 600.

I think for many of us we probably respond differently to this question at different times.

In contrast to P3D when pretty much all my time was IFR in heavy iron, my time is mainly GA in MSFS. It is not just that the scenery is now believable and so gives a sense of realism and immersion, but I have come to appreciate the challenges of GA flying, especially into tough places, accounting for terrain, weather, lighting, obstacles. I enjoy the kind of planning a GA flight entails, whether I do it VFR or IFR. And, really the avionics we have are tremendous -- the G1000 Nxi and the TDS750. I will now discontinue a flight if the weather is below minimums, something I never once did in P3D. So, a lot of time is in the 310, 414 and Kodiak, usually flying my make believe scenarios of transporting cargo or people into rural areas -- medical supplies to fly-in communities; executives to mining towns and camps, etc.

I also still fly heavy metal, but not as often. When I do it has been pretty much just the 737, either the 700 BBJ, because it has the longest range, for cross continent or intercontinental tripes or the 800 cargo variant, which I invariably use to fly routes into the Caribbean or Central/South America -- Bogota, Lima, Panama City, Mexico City, San Juan. Great and realistic cargo routes.

I have stayed away from standard airline flying and trying to stay to a schedule as it just has not interested me so much. I did it a little when I first got the FENIX but I have not touched that plane or that kind of flying in over two months. I am waiting for the FENEX to get some updates.

Funny how we see things differently. That's my high and fast plane 😉

For really low and really slow I'd probably take the modded 152 or the Savage Grravel.

I fly the Cessna 414 AW, and most of my simminmg is with the PMDG 737-600, 800 version.  Pmdg is like the standard for flight simming with airlines.  On the other hand I also have fly the maddog,as my third choice..

C414 get's most of my attention.... paired with the TDS GTN 750Xi

I'm using this pair probably 70% of all of my MSFS flying.  I just love a fast analogue GA aircraft with realistic full RNAV(GPS) support.  The C414 is also pressurized, turbocharged, and is certified for Flight Into Known Icing.

I can see the upcoming Black Square King Air with analogue panel and TDS being my second most flown.

I'm also looking forward to the Carenado V35B with WT's GNS magic hehe (and the PC12 if they ever patch it).

(I will admit, every time I see TBM, it takes me a moment to go "Oh, Socata TBM, not Grumman (GM) TBM..." One day, maybe we will have both 'TBM's to fly. One day.)

Well...we're getting a Hellcat....which is just like a TBM, only 1 pilot, doesn't carry torps, and George Bush never flew one...other than that...I can't tell the difference between a Hellcat and Avenger. 🙂

J/K.  Built an Avenger (Monogram kit I'm thinking) waaaaaay back in the day....loved the opening torp doors and rotating turret...loved the Avenger ever since.

What plane(s) do I find myself flying the most?: The PMDG 737 in MSFS

Why?:  I really like the plane and I'm frequently testing/painting it. 🙂

The Just Flight Piper Arrow III at the moment, but dabbling with the Blackbox Islander which, at version 2.1.2, is just about perfect IMO. Likewise PMDG's DC-6, FBW A320 and Dave Garwood's freeware Hunter.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Reading the replies, I'm struck my how many really good aircraft we have to choose from. And, after only 2 years of MSFS. In previous flight sims I had just a few aircraft that I enjoyed--and that was after several (many?) years. The future looks good.

I fly mainly PMDG 737s, Fenix Airbus, Kodiak, Arrow, C152, C172 and C414.

If you were to draw multiple lines or arcs across the screen, each one a bit higher than the other, each one representing more speed  than those under it.  That's where my hours go.  Default 172's, Diamond DA62, Robert Young modified Turbo Bonanza, Milviz C310 and Kodiak, 414 Chancellor, and then the Hjet.

When I leave on a trip, the aircraft I leave in is what I fly until I return.  If that is a $100 hamburger or pancake day trip its merely out and back. If its a weekend baseball series in the midwest, I may be in the RYTB or C310 from Chicago to Kansas City to Denver and back to Chicago.  And if it is a 2/1/2 week cross country trip with some 800-900 mile segments it is easily the Hjet.  My most recent 25 hours are all in the Hjet in a trip I have currently profiled in the screenshots forum.

Lately for random flights the Sting S4 and Globe Swift ... more occasionally the 247D, Kodiak and Cessna 310 .

The exception would be Neofly where I own a Stearman, Staggerwing and c140 .

Being a Boeing fanatic, i only fly the 737NG followed by the 777.

Sting S4. Quick to get in the air, good FM, great visibility, perfect VFR plane.

I've started to use MSFS on 21NOV2021 with the working title CJ4 and used the CJ4 exclusively until 31JAN2022.

From 01FEB2022 until now, I've never flown anything else than FBW's A320 and I'm having more fun with it than I had with PMDG's and Majestic's planes in FSX and P3D.

Donated 25€ to FBW couple months ago for their outstanding and ever improving work and haven't spent a single cent on the MD82, the A320ceo or one of the 737 NGs, cause I was always happy with the FBW A20N and wanted to wait until the A310 was released to compare all of those aforementioned addons and then decide which one is the best and I'll spend my money on.

Well, patience paid off, inibuilds A310 was announced to come as a free addition to MSFS and if it's not completely fked up like say a Ferrari race strategy, I don't have to spend money on an addon aircraft I'll be using for all of my flights like I had to in FS9, FSX and P3D.
