In FSLTL options?  Is that a new version of FSLTL?

No, it's the optimizing of textures using @MammyJammy's Texture Optimizer tool.

Looks like I'm buying this E-Jets series addon too. Thanks for the tip @blueshark747. How many GB is this after installing?

Edit: Bought it, it's 1.9GB installed.

All together with FSLTL(Shrunk to 2.2GB) +GA ADDON (614MB)  + E JETS (1.9GB) = 4.7GB of space used community folder

This is my config file:

{"ifraircraftlimit":40,"vfraircraftlimit":10,"staticaircraftlimit":0,"staticaircraftlimitmax":2000,"spawnradius":50,"secstilremove":120,"flightplannerdbapikey":"","nofallback":"Yes","nogenerics":"","modeloveride":"","consoledebug":"","fshudport":19786,"silent":"no"}

The bold item is new in the latest update. Does anyone know whether or how that max limit for static aircraft comes into play even though I have set a limit of "0"?

Also, How do I turn off the Generic models option? Mine says "Generic models will be used".

Update: figured it out.

Did you reduce the textures to 2k? That may help.

Is there a fairly concise guide on how to do this somewhere? I know there's a thread here at Avsim (haven't read through it though).

Also, I've been wondering about the performance impact of 4K textures - are we talking about just VRAM usage here, or also CPU, GPU?

I though FSLTL already had some GA planes in the mix? There are freeware mods that allow some GA planes for AIG but not sure if they work for FSLTL.

The GA part is in beta and quite limited at the moment AFAIK. Phantoms freeware mod over at flightsim.to works well, I've tested it. It requires some editing of a .json file in the official => aig-base-traffic folder to edit out commercial traffic. Without this, Asobo airliners will appear in addition to FSLTL ones.

If you are comfortable using CMD to edit files, you should use MammyJammy's latest version of their Texture Optimizer 1.3. Instructions included on their website, linked above.

This is the easiest and, now, quickest way to optimise any textures, including all those 4096/8192 resolution airports, liveries and model libraries purchased or downloaded for free. You might be surprised how much better your sim runs after optimising your addons.

Benefits of optimised textures (2048) that follow the official guidelines /standards.

1. You save 50% or more HDD space e.g. FSLTL folder optimised =6gb

2. Your sim is less likely to unexpectedly crash

3. The textures look better as they are optimised to be displayed in the sim

4. Your sim will run more smoothly

5. You save CPU and GPU cycles that can be invested elsewhere eg higher settings

6. You use less RAM and VRAM

Are you using only the payware GA addon from simmarket?  Or is that being used in conjunction with the freeware addon as well?

Also, can anyone explain what the difference between the freeware and payware GA addons actually is?  I'm currently using the freeware one and it seems really good, but would consider buying the payware ones they offer advantages.

Yep, I let the injector run and sat there in drone mode for about 10 minutes and came back to filled up spaces. Some IFR's were being boarded and loaded.

The 120 second value recommendation stopped all the model changing thankfully.

Tried to catch an Embrear 175 landing at Santos Dumont but I wasn't quick enough with the record button by the time I droned over there.😅

Now I will enable some more of my freeware/payware GA addons as AI, as the 510 Mustang and Kodiak were spawned. (The models are fully LOD'ed though, so will most likely add to performance tax)

I'm not seeing any Embraer aircraft when using the injector. I see them when using MSFS live traffic though. Any idea why?

Can you try EPWA, where there should be many LOT Embraer aircraft and check if you see them?

I had same experience with AIG earlier, but i did compine all the AIG airplanes with FSLTL airplanes inside on one pack and did rebuild it. After that, injector did find all the AIG models. I assume same would be with this case.

Howdy, I'm interested in FSLTL if the following are largely true:

  1. Can you control the number of RT planes coming and going?
  2. Is installation pretty much plug n play, as Simple Traffic is?  I'm okay w/ some setup issues but only if #1 above is true.  IOW, for me it would be worth the hassle if I can get control over RT traffic density so as to have control over performance impacts.

Thanks

Noel

1. Yes, you can set a maximum number of aircraft that will be "spawned", as well as set a maximum radius said aircraft will "spawn" in. There are in game sliders to control these and some other settings as needed, and said changes will persist.

2. Pretty much plug and play, using the excellent FBW installer.

Also, as more models are released and/or the FSLTL injector is updated, the updates will be handled by the FBW installer.

1. Yes. With the latest release there are even sliders accessible from the toolbar.

2. I would say it doesn't get much easier. In fact both installation and the adjustment of amount of traffic is very intuitive.

Sorry, was still editing my post, didn't see @JimBrown reply above.

Just checking right now, but it's not the best time for live traffic in Poland. Not seen any yet with MSFS/FSLTL. But there aren't many scheduled either according to FR24.

I'm back in SU11 after a relaxing beta-free weekend without troubleshooting. Just remembered there's major issues with FSLTL in the beta and that it's not supported by the dev.

Thanks for that I think I will hold off until it's happy in SU11.  Do you have a sense of how much impact their models have on the CPU compared to default models, given of course the same number of models at a given airport?

it's the optimizing of textures using @MammyJammy's Texture Optimizer tool.

Following the install and run instructions and the converter runs and displays the list of files that are being worked. Takes about 6min to 'process' all the textures but then reports 0 images resized. The debug option shows a lot of 4096x4096 original textures and I was asking for 2048x2048 ?  So I end up with an optimized directory the same size as the original ( ~21GB) . I am running the cmd window as administrator.  Also will this tool work for other non aircraft textures ?

I think it's a good idea to wait if you're in the beta.

Models: I'm actually wondering about this myself - haven't found an answer somewhere. We know the models are affecting VRAM, right? I'm not sure about CPU / main thread though. And there's been so much going on here with that 4090 business (relax, I have not set up a scalper business - I mean testing). So I don't really feel like taking the time to learn how to convert textures at the moment.
