On the other hand, the ER is just internally different, with an extra fuel tank and different perf numbers. I’m sure a modder will have one in about 10 minutes after release.
December 1, 20223 yr totally agree. I could care less about the "variant". I know I'm going to buy the MD-11 at some point and have enjoyed how tfdi has engaged with the community. So I was ok giving my order to them in advance. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
December 1, 20223 yr Actually I WAS going to pre order until I saw the exclusive variant ploy, and the fact that it is capped. don’t like rewarding that sort of thing. Ymmv

Limiting the number, I kind of understand as they have to support these people during the beta. For me it is not a plane I am that interested in - I know, hard to believe someone who is not excited for an MD-11 - so I will pass as it is priced fairly high. MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.
December 1, 20223 yr So how many people do we think have pre-ordered? Vote to fix transparent sun visors having no effect on the sun glare effect in MSFS at: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sun-shades-sun-visors-not-influencing-light-in-cockpit/691565/

My understanding is the beta release won’t be until next summer so I didn’t see much value in a prebuy. My guess is they will hold back the beta until they are reasonably confident it will “show” well once released to the public. December 1, 20223 yr I was never impressed with their product (717-owned) for P3d. Seemed unfinished and lacking promised features. This “pre-buy” for a not even alpha software strikes me as desperation, not good marketing. YMMV. I’ll pass. -B

I was impressed by the team members sufficiently that I bought the 717 at the conference. Like many releases it was a WIP. I figured that when I bought. It has since evolved into a really nice aircraft that i keep coming back to from time to time. I expect the same with the MD11. I'll have no complaints as I'm sure it will evolve into a superb creation. I believe in supporting developers like these. To each his own.
December 1, 20223 yr If they were asking for money and giving actual tangible software ( albeit alpha) in return immediately Then meh .. ok.. But bruh ... give up 80 dollars with nothing for months and on top of that locking out those who don't participate in this shenanigans from a variant ? You run a business .. bring your books in to your banker or investors and get a loan. I don't see how this excites and motivates customers. For the people who have done the pre sale .. more power to you. No grudges held. (It is your money to spend as you the customer sees fit) I just do not agree with this variant of crowdfunding investment model. December 1, 20223 yr Quote With all of that said, we're not a cash-grab company. Yeah sure. Thanks, but no thanks. Maybe later, when there is a product. Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉
December 1, 20223 yr As a big MD-11 fan I went ahead and jumped in. Considering how complex modeling is for MSFS I have no doubt that developers are spending a lot of resources on development and have limited capital to fall back on until release. Its a risk but considering how small many of these developers are we will likely see more of this sort of thing in the future. I will be using this sort of model as a trial and will decide on a later date depending on how TFDi delivers if I will ever do this sort of thing again! They must be getting a lot of support. The TFDi web page was a bit flaky on sign up. I was not sure it was actually working but my CC got charged and I got sign up information and invoicing from TFDi. I also had to try a few times to verify my email but it finely worked after a few tries.
