Cheers! Yeah, I have seen those before, but with MSFS I decided to avoid as much mods as possible to avoid issues when updating. And also the chore of keeping the zillions of mods updated and remembering which mods I have.(personal choice) So I keep it default as much as possible and wait for asobo to improve things in the base sim. Has worked great for me so far, as the sim improves. Maybe when things cool down with development of the sim in a few years and it gets more stable, I will check out more mods. So just toggling the ribbon works ok for me now, and if asobo improves it, then great, if not I'll live with it for now. Thanks for the tip anyway,, 😀 Edited December 10, 20223 yr by Kaboki

When MSFS debuted so many were anxious to start loading up 3rd party everything and I avoided that like the plague! I had tried an original version of an alternate ribbon and didn't like it so will see if the subtle, animated one is better. I read posts where users have almost a gig of junk in their community folder, and they wonder why they are having CTDs on every other flight. 😁

December 10, 20223 yr For those of you who can remember FSX crashed on almost every flight. For MSFS things are solid but remember that for the community folder- less is more. sp

The only ones likely to cause trouble are the more technical ones like mods to the Garmin units or significant changes to aircraft systems like the B787 mod etc. I have close to 200Gb now, and no issues. The thing is, it is easy to disable the community mods or enter in safe mode if there is an issue, and they are normally traced within hours by the community. The last things to give me a problem were a few Carenado aircraft actually in the 'Official' folder , but that turned out to be an Asobo problem, and they fixed it quite quickly with an update. I too (touch wood) have never had a more stable flying sim. In fact it was because of all the crashes and freezes that I used to encounter in FSX and P3D that I almost gave up flight simming all together, it was like, really? every time I flew there was some issue, in the end I stopped simming for about 18 months, then along came 2020. Yes, it has it's bugs and things that really should be addressed, and I find that the most frustrating thing of all, but IMO it's incomparable and has no competition. I had a well optimised FSX and put a lot of money into it. Dovetail and FSUIPC managed to mop up a lot of the dll errors, and Steve's DX10 fixer was also a revelation with cloud shadows added and so much more, but the Out Of Memory (OOM) errors were killing me towards the end - almost every flight. Don't overload your PC by trying to fly over PG Manhattan at 400 knots with TLOD 400 at 4K. The rest is down to foibles with MSFS, such as needing to set Off Screen Terrain Pre-Cache to Ultra and Rolling Cache to Off (after first deleting it), or reliant on Asobo to fix, e g.
