Which Airbus if coming from PMDG 738/777

Featured Replies

Never tried any Airbus and have lots of Boeing time.  For someone just starting with Airbus, and wants to trial one w/o a joystick, which one would you recommend, which free one.

The FBW one easy choice.  It's very in depth but there are many good tutorials on YouTube.

I actually don't fly airliners much but I do have it installed.

The FBW is a no-brainer. To boot, the support on their Discord channel is top notch. For initially getting to grips with the Airbus mentality you can't go wrong. Of the three versions available the Experimental is the most feature rich but you may encounter bugs and crashes as this is the one the dev team is working on. For a solid and stable experience you can choose the Stable version and Development sits in between the two. Their website is chock full of information.

Cheers!

Get something good, the Fenix A 320. It will teach you how a real Airbus flies.

Thanks all...it would absolutely be zero money if there is a decent option and there certainly appears to be!  If I love it afterwhile then could go w/ the reining champ.  In fact probably best expose myself to this new avenue w/ the built-in one sounds worth a try.

Cheers

For someone just starting out and unsure if they'll want to continue the steep learning curve that comes with airliners, why would they shell out bucks when they can easily download the FBW for free, which is honestly just one small step down from the Felix?

Hi Noel.

Like you, i had lots of time on Boeings over the years, within the last few months have transitioned to the Airbus, specifically the Fenix A320.

The transition was not as daunting as i thought it would be, have to say the Airbus is a bit easier to fly,  nowhere near as slippery as the 737.

But i do hate the MCDU, i find the FMC of the Boeing much friendlier, although maybe with more time things might change.

But the Fenix is a lovely aircraft to start with so if you don't mind shelling out the coin, you can't go wrong with that aircraft.

SimPilotA320 has some great tutorials on how to fly the Fenix, well worth watching.

Enjoy the ride !

Andy.

If you're a beginner just download FBW and try that out.

Fenix and FBW are excellent.  FBW does not have fully implemented VNAV calculations, so you have to estimate/manage your descent.  Both are amazing.

After years of PMDG 737 in P3D I am a complete convert to Airbus.  They are much smarter machines.  But really looking forward to the 777
