February 18, 20233 yr So much of drama in this thread, they never said “free users won’t able to download”! Everything stays the same, whoever pays gets extra benefits, where is the problem with that? Plus is not even subscription based, pay the month you want, month finished, you are back to normal free user. Oh who says, for what they need this income, as software engineer, maintenance and hosting costs are insanely expensive, especially for something like flightsim.to that has a high traffic. February 18, 20233 yr Who owns flightsim.to? Who is running the place? Who are the people in charge? Has anyone ever seen them on any social media/twitch/youtube? The silly names under "Meet our Team" do not inspire confidence.

February 18, 20233 yr Hi, First, I have write my opinion on their forum: https://flightsim.to/news/our-approach-to-flightsim-to-premium-and-creators-program Second, I have created a new ZIP with only a README.txt in which I said my disapproval of their new rules and the fact that our written consent was not sought. I ask to news users to go on my web site in order to download news versions. This ZIP has been uploaded in place of my old aircraft version and all these changes appear to have been accepted: the last version of 864Ko seems to be the last version on flightsim.to. Apparently due to the disk space and server problems this would cause, older uploaded versions do not seem to be backed up. So it's like deleting your own addons since they have already been refused by KL791 Best regards, Didier "Lagaffe" Boitier HAF 932 / ASUS Z390 STRIX-F Gaming / i9 9900K / Cruxial Ballistic 32 Go à 3200 Ghz / Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti / 34" Samsung FreeSync 21:9 SSD: Samsung 1To + 2 Cruxial 256 Go / Stockage : WD 4To et WD 2 To / Hotas Warthog and Throttle Cougar

We don't know what the creator payment program thing will consist of yet. It might be enough to keep plenty of people on board. I'm sure there are many freeware creators who would love to make a bit of money without having to go all out payware and jump through hoops to do it. However I don't think it would take much for the place to start to tip into staleness, especially if the most popular mods only update elsewhere. At the same time there's nowhere else like it. They got so many things right - presentation, interaction, visibility. I'd be surprised if creators were together enough to unify and make their own platform, or whether they actually want to and they may well end up with the exact same problems, but perhaps a master list of the locations of the most downloaded mods might work. But all flightsim.to have to do is tweak their approach to the work uploaded to keep many happy. Edited February 18, 20233 yr by superspud
February 18, 20233 yr The problem is not to know if this site will continue or not, if people will stay on this site or not for the sake of convenience. The point is that compared to the basic rules on which a number of us uploaded our creations, these rules have been changed without our written consent. Everyone has an internet provider and your contract is governed by rules. If these rules change, the provider gives you the choice to accept or cancel your contract. Ok, we are talking about freeware but the rules are the same. So why they refuse to remove the addons if the authors don't agree with the new rules anymore ? As for me, I created my site in 2013 and it is not so complicated. Currently I have more than 2.955.112 visitors and even if the number of downloads was more important on flightsim.to, what interests me is not the number of users but if that they are happy with the addons. February 18, 20233 yr I will not be buying a Premium subscription. I doubt that there will be much worth downloading as I can't see many of the best freeware developers being prepared to give up all rights to the freeware product they have spent their time making. And I'm certainly not going to pay a subscription to what is increasing becoming just an online shop. Edited February 18, 20233 yr by jarmstro

February 18, 20233 yr I really can't see, what is it now all about, sorry. They talk about to make our stuff "sublicensable", and more important is §4.2. to me: "You retain all of your ownership rights in your User Content. In short, what belongs to you stays yours. " That you can't delete your files is since the beginning as far as I can say ... at least since mid of last year. details have changed, but they always have said that they'd like to keep stuff uploaded. In the FAQ there is a good explanation, why. February 18, 20233 yr Not on board with this. I don't download as much as to justify, plus i don't mind waiting for downloads to complete at all. And as already said, stacking up monthly subscriptions is also not my thing. There's house rent, internet + phone + tv, car, navigraph, phone apps (yeah even lots of these are switching to subscriptions "just because"), child school, energy, gas, water... If i embarked in everything that comes up, i'd be asking for money by the end of the month. No way jose. In the FAQ there is a good explanation, why. Agreed. People getting triggered for nothing I think. I paid $15 for 3 months. The site is really good and they have to pay for all the server costs somehow. If they pulled the plug on it tomorrow, guess what? People would be hollering for it back as there is nothing else out there. Avsim library can't hold a candle to what flightsim.to offers. If you don't want to pay, the site will continue on for downloaders as it always has, zero change. And 4.2 is enough to satisfy uploaders. If that language in section 4 has been there since mid-2022, and the world hasn't ended, then why now the feigned outrage? People need to take a deep breath and realizing that they are making something out of nothing. Edited February 18, 20233 yr by B777ER Eric
