P3D V5.4 is available

Recommended Posts

That post annoyed me. I saw it on the main forum page, and was totally surprised, but looking forward to reading it (after reading the latest posts regarding the MSFS 2024 announcement). Then I accessed the P3D section of the forum, only to discover that it was a fake post

A part of me thinks that people posting rubbish like that should be given a short holiday.

Exactly. When I saw it I thought "wow"... but it turned out to be something else.

I agree. Very bad taste. Moderators should act on that one.

Further to my previous post above, now that ChasePlane has been updated I have re-installed V5.4

and it appears that FFTF works fine with it, despite saying its for version 5.3.17.28160.

Anyone else finding the same?

And even further....FFTF has now been updated to cater for V5.4

The only one left, AFAIK, is surprise, surprise Toga Projects.😞

Well hardly a surprise 😉 when I sent them a support request they replied saying they don't support Windows 11.

Overall, 5.4 has not caused any negative change in my running of P3d; it has improved it for me.

This is why double-blind trials exist. 🙂

My last word. On MY system I now can confirm that 5.4 decreases the overall vRam from 7.1 to 6.9 BUT at KLAX (FSDT) with AI planes aplenty and PMDG 747, the ground AI traffic moves much more smoothly and my HIGH settings (nearly all to the right, instead of mid way) are pushing vRam to only 6.3. Previously this would have been perilously close to a CTD.

I felt no difference between v5.3 and v5.4... until I updated the FSL A320 and found annoying sound pauses while switching cameras. I'm sure it's an FSL issue, but this precludes me from using v5.4 for the time being.

Hey,

While with P3D v4 you might get away with it on the laptop because it’s using DX11, however with v5 you will have issues with the vram as v5 is using DX12. I am running v5 on my RTX2070 Super (8gb vram) on desktop PC with texture resolution of 1024 and in some areas I’ve got close to 6 gigs of vram usage out of 7.1GB usable vram. Now with your GPU’s 4GB vram won’t be enough. Especially that the usable vram is a bit less than 4GB as Windows reserves a small bit for itself.

I am running v5.4 on my desktop with a GTX 1660ti video card. It has only 6 gigs of onboard ram, but I am usually drawing not much more than 4. I do not fly ram hungry tubeliners…and am very happy with the long overdue upgrade…very curious about whether this is a preview of v6 and what it may or may not offer.

see my specs for more info about my hardware software setup.

Thanks for your input guys, I see it's a no go on my laptop.

I've just completed 2 flights with P3D v5.4 + FSL bus. I've had no problems whatsoever with sound pauses while switching cameras.
Do you have Chase Plane?

Richard.

Negative: I just edit aircraft.cfg manually with the view coordinates and angles, and bind it to any of the P3D camera hotkeys. How do you do?

I raised this issue at FSL forums, but all I got was radio silence.
