It’s all good.  I can be an word not allowed sometimes.  I get it.

I don’t really know, lol. I jumped in in the middle somewhere.  Somebody on YouTube felt betrayed by a trailer?

What is this thread REALLY about?

Some YouTuber who completely jumped the gun and created an absolutely nonsensical video in which they proceed to explain why their airline pilot roleplay (which they mistake for some sort of super-serious professional engagement) should be considered more valid than any other pilot roleplay, and as such the fact that the trailer focused on the latter made him feel "betrayed" (which they felt the need to portray in a highly clickbaitish thumbnail).

And since that kind of rant is always popular among a certain reactionary crowd, someone thought it was a great idea to give it some visibility here.

Thats how much confidence I have in Jorg's word. He's like a politician in the UK, full of grand ideas, and hot air. Sure some of it comes to fruition, but a lot doesn't and it's a painful road!

I think a lot of politicians find the established bureaucracy prevents the implementation of their grand ideas. Jorg seems to have everyone involved in his dream on his side.

I can get behind criticism of the Jorg/the team (constructive, of course).

What I don't understand is the cynicism (I mean, a small amount of cynicism is probably warranted in most situations, but for some people it seems to be overwhelming). We already know the whole point of this product is to make money, that's not some super-duper secret conspiracy, but Jorg and other team members seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves and having fun creating this big project.

It didn't mention airliners.

Oh he absolutely did, to quote his own words:

Quote

"I'm sure the fantasy roleplaying aspect will be attractive to many gamers, but for serious aviation enthusiasts like pilots and the kind of guys who fly PMDG this is just not going to hack it, and they may have to return to P3D or Xplane."

Basically, those who enjoy the "fantasy roleplay" are "gamers" while the airliners dudes (who fly PMDG) are the "serious aviation enthusiasts." Suuuure. 😂

Imagine how completely out of touch with aviation and utterly self-centered one has to be to think that Search and Rescue, Air Ambulance, Aerial Firefighting, VIP Charter, industrial transport, etcetera are "fantasy" roleplay. Last time I checked the trailer, I'm fairly sure I never saw any dragon riding 😂

Of course, this makes absolutely zero sense, and the idea that those who may enjoy those aviation activities are somehow less "serious aviation enthusiasts" than those who fly PMDG airliners is silly gatekeeping and misplaced elitism that deserves only mockery.

Mind you, he's very free to go back to P3D if he so wishes. Considering the ludicrously bad trailer LM showcased yesterday and the fact that PMDG itself has basically abandoned that sinking ship, I'm sure it'll work great for him and the other 15 self-elected "serious aviation enthusiasts" that can still stomach tech from 15 years ago.
