June 23, 20232 yr So at Flightsim Expo 2023, Jorg and Seb finally went over the new changes for MSFS 2024, that weren't really explained in the original announcement video. I think this information is much more relevant to Avsim, as many of us are interested in how MSFS 2024 makes flight simulation more realistic for us, especially with respect to physics, flight systems & avionics, etc. Well, they answered just that today. With respect to the change to aerodynamics and physics: With respect to systems and avionics: You can watch the replay here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1854043895?t=00h10m49s In addition, with respect to scenery, they are also using machine learning to make the terrain and scenery even more realistic, and there will also be more variety of trees. And they also had a segment on the new physics for hot air balloons. I got to admit, I was a little lukewarm about the original MSFS 2024 announcement, because I am not that interested in new activities. Instead, I want improved physics, improved systems & avionics, etc. And I think the MSFS team is delivering this in MSFS 2024. Edit: Yup, and the new multithreading to improve performance! June 23, 20232 yr What I heard is that add-ons are going to be backwards compatible, but every single one of them is going to end up giving an optional upcharge to get a version that takes advantage of the new physics engine.
June 23, 20232 yr "Massive performance improvements" I'm already getting more fps in MSFS than my current monitor can handle!!! Who ever imagined that the efficient coding of MSFS and MS2024 would have us looking for ways to lower our fps? Amazing but true if you're using a 60Hz display. June 24, 20232 yr I'm not surprised there's performance improvements, the sim still needs to run on X-Box after all.

Performance was one of my main surprises from the 1st alpha of MSFS (now rebranded FS2020😉). It got a little dent when I switched to mainly VR, but performance under 2D is still stellar. My deep respect if they manage to keep this in view of the new features of FS2024. Performance improvements are good if we consider the worst case scenarios (large airports + complex airliner + lots of traffic). I agree with you that the upper bar is already really high (using a 7800x3d + RTX 4090 I can reach as much as 300 FPS), but in the lower bar there's space to improve (my current setup can hold 70-80 FPS at KLAX + Lots of traffic and complex airliner, but not everyone can have high end setups). June 24, 20232 yr Thats great news. I hope major weather improvements are on the list too. It seems like a lot of this stuff is what the community and developers like pmdg have been asking for in order to streamline the addon development process too. Wow. I have never seen a video showing 300 FPS for MSFS, no matter what hardware used, or what resolution & settings being used. The most I think I have seen in a video was about 175 FPS! If you have a video showing 300 FPS, please post it, I would like to see 😁 Edited June 24, 20232 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
