Horizon Simulations B787 vs Asobo's B787?

Featured Replies

What does the Horizon B787 do (better) than the newest updated B787 from Asobo?

I expect that being a payware aircraft the Horizon B787 must have some "extra" features that the Asobo model doesn't have?

Please enlighten me.

The Horizon will be freeware.  Consider yourself enlightened. 🙂

Both are great for freeware, and you can try both and form your own opinion when the Horizon releases.

Check out the many vids out there on her....almost all the mainstream content creators in our hobby are flying it almost non-stop.

No, I think it’s fair to ask either way. Even though it is freeware, what does it do better? Considering all the lead up and hype, I’m a bit curious myself. Not complaining, just curious. Reading through the features, most of the upgrades/changes are visual. What will this plane do better than the original or the kuro?

It's basically bringing all the WT improvements to a B788 and B789. Some other improvements in there as well.

Looks really good! Wonder if the guys over at FS2Crew could work their magic on it?

Is it fair to say it's based on the WT/Asobo 787 but modded for the -9 variation + visual improvements? So underlying FM, avionics, systems guts are the same? Not sure what if anything they did above and beyond WT's avionics/systems/FM apart from adjusting them for the -9.

Most of the streamers who previewed it at the weekend mentioned that it flew beautifully.. Has the flight model been changed also?

Most streamers say the Horizon 789 is by far the best from the textures, more EFB function and the Flight model. Vatsim "CPT" will be flooded with them this Saturday. 789 is also the most popular "real world" 787 by a long shot.

Also don't forget it's only freeware if you already have Premium Deluxe since it uses the Asobo 787-10 as a base.  If you don't have Premium Deluxe with access to the 787-10 from Asobo, you won't be able to run the 787-9 or the Kuro 787-8 mod.

I'm looking forward to flying it but there is some ongoing work that is being done with the flight tuning. A bit too sensitive on the pitch axis. One streamer had a tail strike on takeoff i'm assuming they did not expect that fast of a rotation and i personally saw for myself on another you tubers stream a replay on landing with the AC oscillating back and forth in the flare because the pitch was so sensitive. Hopefully they get this sorted out before release.

The Horizon 787 is the -9 model. The default B787 is the bigger -10 model. Kuro's B787 is the -8 model

One small difference I noted was that the WT version shows the stall speed based on aircraft config on the speed tape, but there is no such indication on the Horizon version.
