Sigh. Not for me yet. Don't forget that Toolbar Pushback hasn't been updated in years. The Pro version (payware) appears to be compatible.

I have to say I agree - those clouds at the end of the video are awful ... but (sadly) beyond the scope of ActiveSky - at the moment. Let's hope they work on a textures addon that gets rid of these over-contrasty volcanic ash monstrosities. Some say they're locked into the SDK, so the buck gets passed back to Asobo. Forgot to add - thanks for sharing the video! Edited April 22, 20242 yr by Adamski_NZ
April 22, 20242 yr Seriously folks, I'm not sure what some folks are looking at. The combo of believable turbulence and the looks of the clouds makes this a pretty nice purchase for me. Im seeing cirrus clouds and variety I just dont see with MSFS live. And I think MSFS live is pretty durn good, this just looks better to me. Whether it's more totally realistic is a debate Im sure, but it looks pleasing and I like it.

Really can't go back to not having weather in the distance instead of having this morphing etc. Flying into weather systems is really something I really like in the MSFS weather systems. For me this feels like a step back, like being back in the Prepar3d versions Still I owned all of the great Active Sky products for a long time and really think they are great developers. And I feel for them that Microsoft did not open the weather system to 3rd party developers, really hope that they will do it because Hifisim would make something even better out of it then! Yes, yes I have read the manual................................ I have bought it (wanted to support HiFi) but have yet to install it - any how these are my concerns with as well. You see back in the day in my imagination I thought there had to be a better way for displaying real world weather in FSX and later P3D than relying on Metars and interpolation and what I imagined is largely how it is done with the default live weather in MSFS2020. For example flying west over the sierras and seeing the marine layer in the distance over the California coast - something I guess you wouldn't see with Active Sky FS. On the other hand if Active Sky can deliver much better turbulence especially in cloud turbulence (are they there yet with this) then I guess I should give it a try. The local weather model was a game changer with MSFS. I would not have considered a weather addon until live weather took a great big step backwards. Clouds became 'cloud' - cumulus. Now, there is an unfortunate choice to be made - see the marine layer in the distance or have more authentic clouds & turbulence for the entire flight. Yea, this pretty much sums up the conclusion I came to -- there is a choice now to be made. In the end, after a lot of back and forth over the weekend, I chose to go with the AS Preset because in the final analysis what is most important to me is the airspace immediately around my aircraft, where I interact with the air, navigate and fly. I really wish I did not have to make this choice but with the exception of this limitation, AS appears superior in every way. I will re-evaluate when 2024 is released but until then it is AS. A worthwhile 25 dollar investment -- to be honest, I would have paid more. MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.
April 22, 20242 yr You could watch 100 YT-videos, read a thousand posts, and still come back with no idea how and if Active Sky actually improves the weather in MSFS. A lot of these tubber videos are pure clickbait, rush jobs, done by folks who clearly couldn't be bothered to actually read the manual. Switching back and forth between MSFS and Active Sky...after a couple of minutes you're lost as to what is what. Reading the posts here, I get the impression a lot of folks WANT to like Active Sky because they have fond memories of AS in FSX and P3D. I do, too, but that still doesn't answer the key question I posed above. The solution to this is a simple one: Active Sky should offer a time-limited trial (say, an hour, or so). This way, everyone can make up their own minds, no Youtube needed.
April 22, 20242 yr just to confirm in general msfs settings do i switch off live weather? thanks mike

But hmm the turbulence effects are terribad in both scenarios. Too snappy/jolty. and barely any yawing tendency at all. Looks extremely fabricated and not realistic (more so with MSFS weather, but still). The Sting weighs what, 600kg? based off my own experience flying the similar sized planes, they get pushed around, in every axis EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12

Being able to trial any* product for 2 weeks every 6 months. More than enough time for me to determine if it’s a product I want or not. Much more consumer friendly imo. for civil sims it’s a lot of being forced to love something whether you want to or not because you have to spend money for the advent of trying it out or not. * not every single product but most Edited April 22, 20242 yr by Lucky38i
