Black Square Duke Released!

Featured Replies

I'm considering to get the Duke bundle the next time it goes on sale - What do you people think? How detailed are systems simulated as well as the flight model, I do own couple of black square products and they have never disappointed me. Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to fly the real air's duke in FSX/P3D so not familiar with the aircraft itself.

I'm not totally sure where this information comes from, but that is not accurate. At the core is, the sim does not support hot swapping avionics. We have advised developers against utilizing hot

  • I'd say FlySimWare Cessna 414 if it can't be the Duke.

Do you have the new TDS GTNXi update that provides crossfeed between (2) TDS GTN gauges?  If so how well does it work?  I see the BSq Duke is on the TDS list of compliant aircraft.

I can echo @tttocs's comments here. It's working great for me. I love the ability to have one of the units showing the flight plan, the other showing the map, and having changes to both being synchronized.

Just got the Turbo Duke yesterday for Father's Day from my daughter Flew it for a very short flight last night, and made a smooth landing. Going to have lots of fun with this aircraft,

Yep, it's a real blast. Sounds are fantastic too!

In my book, it's one of the best GA addons for MSFS. I have some more detailed thoughts earlier in this thread:

Edit: One thing to note is that the Dukes aren't compatible with MSFS 2024, if that's relevant to you. Some people say they've been able to get it to work, but the developer warns that there will be issues. An MSFS 2024 compatibility update is slated to arrive sometime after the Black Square Starship is released (which will happen Thursday this week).

There are barely any issues.  A few minor ones.  But I fly the Duke now exclusively in 2024 and loving it.  In fact just did a nice flight into L35 Big Bear this morning.  I bought the bundle also.  But don't really fly the turbine one.  99% in the Grand Duke for me.  Lovely plane.

The Realair Dukes were among my favorite planes in FSX/P3D.  Yet good as they were, the Blacksquare implementations are better.  I haven't flown the Turbine conversion much yet, as I'm enjoying the Piston version waaay too much to take a break from flying it so I can't say much about it other than it looks and sounds great.  As to the piston version - the visuals are excellent, the flight model is solid, and the turbocharged engine model is one of the most realistic out there in representing how a turbocharged piston engine behaves in real life.  Oh, and the sounds are simply wonderful.

It is an absolute joy to fly.  Highly, highly recommended!

My one complaint with the Dukes is we have been waiting over a year for the missing rain sounds to be added. Was supposed to happen after flight sim expo last year and we're still waiting. An immersion breaker in what is otherwise a fantastic aircraft.

Did you just copy the files over.

I bought the Turbine from the marketplace last christmas but haven't gone deep into it due to other priorities.

However, so far I'm highly impressed with all aspects of the addon. In terms of flight model, it handles solidly and pleasantly.

And FWIW, no issues I've noticed with running it in v2024, which was a copy/paste from v2020.

@Ron Lefebvre

I have the Duke bundle, but how to see them both in 2024 at the same time? If I copy one over from 2020, the other one does not appear.

Also, has anyone got the BS Baron to work in 2024?

Just flew the piston tonight in 2024.  Such a nice addon!

Supposed to be in their next big update coming soon.

I can confirm that the Dukes work fine in 2024. Only issue is the flickering textures on liveries that were not updated for 2024 compatibility. And that's not something I can see from the cockpit!

Pretty sure only one appears in the menu. You need to select it, then go into configure and choose the variant i.e. standard, grand or turbine.

Thanks fellas - I made a plunge and bought the bundle anyway (made sense as it works out cheaper if I decide get the other version later), Flown some visual circuits in piston version and I am really impressed. It handles and flies smoothly too which is a plus. Sounds are awesome too. I definitely going put more hours in this and try out turbine version.

Is there a simbrief profile available somewhere - if so does it include for both variants (turbine and piston)?
