MS Servers are down

Featured Replies

Happened to me too around  19:00 UTC and it was clear from the message the problem was on their side...

Went preparing and eating dinner, then came back and all was good again ... Only problem was I had time to watch the News in the TV... and News almost always leave me stressed these days 😕

But a short LPFR - LPPT with FSTL models (not traffic), default MSFS Real World Traffic, ASFS for the Weather (like MSFS doesn't do it...) and BATC for practising my nasty radiotelephony 🙂

I still LOVE this sim, even with the net quirks here & then...

  • This is about the only reason I would pick up Xplane--to lose this critical dependency.   OTOH our entire gig is a digital house of cards anyway w/ Russian (and I'm sure American/Chinese too) satellit

  • Also tried various things to fix this before Googling and realizing it's a global issue... started a flight anyway but, wow, does MSFS look ugly without an internet connection...

  • Exactly. Even the Map Enhancer does not work.    And there is also something not quite right with AVSIM's servers. It takes forever when I hit the reply button for the message to show up

If the MSFS site going down was your biggest issue then you should consider yourself lucky...  Schwab was down, trading sites were down BT Europeans backbone was impacted as was Microsoft, Tata, Cloudflare, Google and other key application servers all went down for 4-19 minutes and they all appeared to happen at the same time...

MSFS was just caught up in a larger outage

Russian or Chinese state sponsored hackers, I guess.

It's problematic again today 😕

Yes, I've noticed it too. It was OK in the morning but right now it's unplayable.

Running msfs now and it looks like the server gremlins are back again.

Similar symptoms to the ones we were getting a couple of days ago.

MS have not told us there are issues again yet as far as I can see.

Yup. Just did a part of the Finland Tour, there everything was fine.

Now I restarted the sim 30 minutes later to do some airliner hauling and the bing data is nowhere to be seen.

Same here. Something is up. I'm going to give up and try again later.

Yup, first I have seen this. Went to do a quick flight at lunchtime. Thought it was map replacement mod so stopped that, restarted and checked the hosts file. All clear but Sim still looked like word not allowed and was getting a stutter roughly every 30 seconds - I'm assuming the sim trying to get back online?

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

That's indeed the oddest thing. Even the map replacement servers don't work. Whether you pick Google or Bing the sim only displays default textures.

MS have confirmed that there are issues again on the main site. Starting to become more than a bit annoying now.  It would be nice if they could tell us something about what the problem is and when they think they can fix it. After all, we have paid good money for a program we cannot use along with a lot of addons and high end systems to be able to run it.

We are aware of a current Bing Data outage affecting users on all platforms. We have already escalated this for investigation and will provide an update when we are able to do so.

Thank you for your patience, and we apologise for any inconvenience!

Bing data outage right now. They just noted it on MSFS forums.

That’s strange, I’m streaming Bing data through the enhancement app right now, no problems,

That comes from Bing servers directly (the same that you access from your browser when you consult Maps), while AFAIK Bing data delivered in the sim comes from other Azure servers where it is previously modified to remove clouds, tune the colors, etc.
