I'm getting 4 second pauses every 20 seconds or so. Could this be related?

I've exactly the same, yes.

  • This is about the only reason I would pick up Xplane--to lose this critical dependency.   OTOH our entire gig is a digital house of cards anyway w/ Russian (and I'm sure American/Chinese too) satellit

  • Also tried various things to fix this before Googling and realizing it's a global issue... started a flight anyway but, wow, does MSFS look ugly without an internet connection...

  • Exactly. Even the Map Enhancer does not work.    And there is also something not quite right with AVSIM's servers. It takes forever when I hit the reply button for the message to show up

same here, 3-4 seconds pauses every 20-30 seconds.

Me too. I just abandoned the flight as the pauses are just too annoying. I will actually go and work now and try again later today.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Just popped into Avsim to see if anyone else was having the pausing issues. I see I'm not alone.

Getting this too! Thought it was something wrong with my system... Connection has been unstable all day.

I had an update to another program I use this AM and thought it had to be that program - the timing was perfect and it would seem that the other program would have been the issue....Of course once I killed it running and the issue was still occurring checked forums and here we are.    Luckily I hadnt gotten to the point of reaching out to the other developer.    Sigh Asobo/MS....

And the guys from X-Plane proudly look at us from the cockpit from above.)))

Thank you for posting your troubles with MSFS. A relief, I thought my install had gone corrupt :). Now I just can wait for MS to fix it.

Freezes are exactly every 30 seconds. I updated my NVidia video driver to version 555.99 and thought that was the culprit.

I have to wait I guess...

And Avsim is also not very cooperative, almost double post!

The fact that the current server issues are causing bad stutters suggests that servers may have been causing a while lot of our stutters all along - Something I believe MS/ASOBO had previously denied (and told us that it was our systems and addons).

The initial issues seem to have surfaced a couple of days ago and MS serm to have fixed them only for the same issues to have recurred today.  MS must know what the problem is, so why don't they tell us?  Could it be the Russians or Chinese ot have MS just screwed up again?

You guys are funny (C). All these "removed community folder, reinstalled Windows, formatted SSD" and other fun stuff. I haven't touched my MSFS installation since August 19th, 2020. 509 hours of happy, non CTD  flying with PMDG/Fenix and bunch of other add-ones. I'm on DX11 though.

Why don't they tell us? Because the details are a) none of our business, b) maybe they haven't figured out the root cause. And c) so that you can speculate about a russian/chinese cyberattack.
