Poll. Must MSFS 2024 be released November 19th? 91 members have voted

  1. 1. Must MSFS 2024 be released November 19th?, even if it is similar to a beta version, like MSFS 2020 was?

    • Yes, even like with MSFS 2020, that it was like a beta version, with bugs, flaws and strong points, and it went maturing over years.

    • No, wait months or years if still it isn´t enough mature, and not like the actual good state of MSFS 2020.

For me, yes, even I pre-bought it some days ago haha, and I constantly look to the PC date just in case is already November 19th.

If they release it today, I'll try it today.

MSFS

Yes, just release it and let them fix it up as we go, just like with MSFS2020.  I am sure we will have a lot of fun in the meantime.  You can't wait forever for something to be perfect.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Yes. Microsoft has already spent, and is continuing to spend, a marketing and advertising budget on the November 19 release date. Releases like the XBox edition of MSFS (SU 5), the 40th anniversary edition, and MSFS 2024, are different from your typical Sim Update, because of the extra money Microsoft spends to promote these special releases. I don't think any marketing/advertising budget is typically used for a Sim Update, so those can be delayed. So I doubt MSFS 2024 will be delayed.

Having said that, if you are concerned about stability, just use MSFS 2020 until you thinj MSFS 2024 is stable enough for your preferences.

I mean they can release it whenever they want.  But I'll personally only jump when I see it is ready.

Both answers in your poll assume that MSFS2024 is not fit to be released, and the choices are to have a buggy version now or wait a year -or more-

I'd say MSFS2024 should be released whenever it is ready to be, and that could be 19 November.

Flightsim rig:
CPU: AMD 5900x  | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL
Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906
Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

Based on all the reports of the global private preview event build by content creators, and now the tech alpha, I'm seeing these as net positives over 2020:

  1. A great majority of IRL pilots and simmers alike noticing solid/non-trivial improvements in flight dynamics based on the C172 and 737 Max (so I eagerly look forward to trying default birds in the sim and then to see what 3rd party devs will do with all the flight dynamics improvements and capabilities in the SDK)
  2. Ground handling is a vast improvement over 2020 (per all reports, and what I saw in videos)
  3. Visual fidelity and depiction of the digital twin earth - I mean, what's there to say here except that it's leaps and bounds ahead of 2020 (highly detailed ground terrain, 3D flora, various biomes, seasons, 2D->3D AI based terrain depiction, etc)
  4. Better clouds depiction and density, new cirrus cloud type, better simulation of impact to aircraft when encountering dangerous weather/clouds, better clouds lighting
  5. Revamped atmospheric and lighting engine, very positive reviews so far
  6. Lots of medium or higher fidelity default aircraft coming, i.e. 737 Max, iniBuilds A330, etc
  7. All default aircraft now use CFD for their FMs
  8. Better water physics
  9. Much better multi-threading and full use of CPU cores
  10. And various more...

In terms of regressions from 2020, didn't see or hear of any major ones.. well I guess some terrain glitches and what not in the tech alpha, but not sure if that's representative of the full sim given what they intentionally removed/changed in the tech alpha.

So all in all, the totality of improvements over 2020 makes it an easy buy for me, and yes to release on Nov 19th based on the two preview builds so far. I get to also use 2020 so I'm not worried about initial bugs after release.

No one and I mean absolutely no one is being forced to buy it on release whether its today, tomorrow, Nov 19 or even if they did delay it a couple of Months. Its your option to buy it or not.

"Must" it? No. It's software, and they can ultimately delay releasing it if they want.

For them to delay it from the planned release date, there would need to be a seriously good reason though, like some big showstopping bugs.

I like how the poll and entire premise of the poll is a loaded question

Seriously, who cares?

What would be the parameters that signify that 2024 is "mature"?

I bet 2020 wouldn't meet most of them 4 years after release but it's a constantly evolving product that we enjoy playing immensely.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

2024 will be released as a beta? I must have missed the memo....

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

As soon as it's released as soon the addon devs will start converting and optimise/improve, at least I hope so, their planes/sceneries/etc... for it

Didn't they just lock another thread about MSFS 2024 , implying that it wasn't ready for release? 🤔
