From which developer did you buy the most aircraft?

Featured Replies

While looking over my hangar to get some sense of what my compatibility future with MSFS 2024 might look like, I found something interesting.

Ironic really, because for all the talk of bugs and lack of systems depth more than half of my fleet is Carenado aircraft!

Starting with the first add for the Market Place CT182 and onwards.

How about the rest of you?

Probably better for me to say who I DONT buy from 😁 Aerosoft. Captain Sim.

Don't be surprised, it has probably been that way for most of us since the old days of P3D. In those days, most of my fleet were Carenado, like the Shrike, the B1900D, the Shorts, and many others. They were fantastic in textures quality and definition, but not so when it came to systems and depth. Good to take them into the air without too much reading.

Most of the aircraft in my virtual hangar have been published by JustFlight, but if counted by developer most of my aircraft have been developed by Carenado as well.

They were the first to offer a third party aircraft for MSFS2020 and delivered most of the new aircraft in the first 2 years. After that, several of the aircraft that accompanied the World Upgrades were developed by Carenado which also accounts for some of these in my hangar.

Yeah, I think this had a lot to do with it.

I always had some Carenado/Alabeo aircraft going back to FS9/2000 (primarily their business jets), but this is the most ever.

FSX + MSFS2020: PMDG

MSFS2020 alone: FBW

Excluding freeware, because the OP mentioned payware aircraft only - otherwise the FBW 320 would be among the most used...

3 aircraft from: PMDG

2 aircraft from: ASOBO, CARENADO, FLYINSIDE, NEMETH-DESIGNS

1 aircraft from: A2A, COWAN-SIMULATIONS, FENIX, FLYING IRON, GOT-FRIENDS, JUST-FLIGHT, SWS STUDIOS

Of all these aircraft, those I only used with MSFS 2020 time enough to even mention I used them, by order of frequency of use, were:

FENIX A320 CEO - the most used followed by

PMDG 737-700 - the second most used

PMDG 777 - close to the 737

SPITFIRE Mx IX - used from time to time

A2A COMANCHE and ASOBO ATR-72 - used just a few times

I did buy the Antonov An-225 Mriya from ASOBO too, more as a form of support to their cause...

the helis, all of them, used and left over due to the poor flight dynamics 😕 - a waste of time and money IMO... Looking forward for how 2024 does the rotaries...

Other aircraft like the PMDG DC-6, the Carenados, the Discus or the Kodiak were practically unused...

If I knew in advance I would **only** have purchased and used :

the FENIX A320, the PMDG 737 and 777, the ATR-72 and nothing else... and these are actually the only I look fwd to be able to migrate into MSFS 2024.

The ATR-72 which I almost never used but am willing to use with 2024...

Regarding gliders and helicopters, I strongly believe, although I would like to be proven wrong, MSFS 2024 will not be my option... Rather use Condorsoaring for the soaring and DCS World for the helicopters...

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

MSFS only, right? If so, I'd say PMDG (all but the 77W), then Just Flight (two purchases but 5 different models), and then Fenix and Leonardo SH (two purchases, 3 models each, same money paid). I'll add next week the RJ. Luckily I keep a spreadsheet with all my FS purchases since I started the hobby.
