First Flight in MSFS 2024?

NOTE: Apologies if there's already a thread for this - If there is then please delete this one.

As we're now one day from release, what is everyones first flight going to be? I imagine most will probably start ploughing through the Career mode.

For me, I always have my default go-to airport which is Bembridge on the Isle of Wight (UK). It's a very small airport that is not really noteworthy except to those which fly it. I've spent many a holiday over there and love the island. I'll do do a VFR flight around the island and then land again 🙂

It may now show off the simulators best side given that there is no photogrammetry, but it will just familiarise myself with the new sim given I missed the alpha.

A second for me will probably be the London City just to see how my PC holds up 😐

    I'll look at familiar territory so a take-off from Biggin Hill then a sight-seeing tour around south east England and the Channel.

Probably going to checkout the Max. A330, A321. and set profiles.

I know the day (tomorrow), but not the time or zulu time when it will be released. First flight on a GA plane just to see what's new in the simulated world close to my house.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

TLPC to TFFF as usual, in the first sim plane I fell in love with, the Baron 58. I'm really looking forward to finally being able to open its door without an add-on  and any other improvements Asobo was able to squeeze in.

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

It's going to depend on liveries, but I think the new a321 with a flight from JFK-BOS. The Flytampa KBOS is one of the few 3rd party airports I will load.

Good question!

My plans are, more as an initial evaluation of the state of the art regarding rotaries/ turboprop and helicopters, as well as gliders:

1st) a flight around a local airfield in the Air Tractor AT-802;

2nd) a flight around LPMN, with Real Weather set to ON, in the DG Aviation DG-1001E and another in the Stemme S12G;

3rd) a flight in the Robinson R66;

4th) a circuit in LPPT with the 738 MAX;

5th) a circuit in LPPT with the A321 LR.

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Probably in the minority that I don't really make plans. Just going to install it, mess around with settings and then I'll load up some random planes at various spots, check out the new visuals, vegetation, walking function etc. and eventually a flight will take place, who knows in what and to where.

I usually fly a short route from KOPN to KMCN in the Cessna 172. Might hit up the career mode right off the bat to judge any changes ect from tech alpha though. Then take that flight afterward.

I shall be busy exploring the new aircraft, particularly the A400M, C-17 and the Twin Otter. Therefore, most of my early flying will be test flights from Edwards KEDW and Farnborough EGLF. I'll do one or two helicopter trips into the PNG highlands too, just for a walk round and chat with the locals. It's going to be fun !

I will also go GA from Leeds airport in the UK.  First flight will be to check out the lighting, ground textures and weather at various times of the day.  I will then visit the USA to all the regular airfields to check out the new scenery and lighting.  This will continue for days I imagine, but trying out the new aircraft.

I will not put any aircraft or scenery I own into the new sim until it is certified to use the new features of 2024.

Will do similar in the 172 between TQPF and TNCM or TFFG. When everything is set up I'll test the 2020 addons for the region one by one. SLH TQPF, TFFR, AWD TNCM-TFFG and Tropicalsim TFFF worked well in the Tech Alpha so I'm optimistic about them in 2024 once I've configured everything.

I'll probably just be exploring the scenery the first day or two, then probably do DAL1, KJFK toEGLL, on the weekend in the A330.

I will probably just grab an A330-200RR and go from there. Departure and destination, only God knows as i don't tend to follow "real world" routes. Maybe VTSP to VHHX for the incredible beach departure and amazing old school arrival. That's if the old addon airports still work :P

Then the incredibly tedious task of checking one by one all addons, see what needs updates and what works out of the box.
