November 19, 20241 yr Just remember this when you're hyped in 2028 and thinking of pre-ordering super-deluxe editions. Although it seems to be the standard of game launches these days - its still not acceptable imo.

The servers most weekends over the summer (when the kids were off school) were fubar, why did anyone think on release day they would hold up I dont know.
November 19, 20241 yr So honestly it's actually a joke - I don't want to criticise MSFS (I love MSFS and X-Plane) - of course nothing is easy - but I can't "walk around", hyping and telling how amazing not everything is, that they managed (thanks XBOX, but nothing against the XBOX users) to minimise the whole thing to stream more but at the same time didn't calculate or didn't expect the servers to be overloaded - it was clear anyway !!! Why not preload directly or at least preload the necessary files - why not give the option of loading more data onto the hard drive (nowadays storage space costs nothing anyway, I mean the hard drives). What about on public holidays when everyone is at home ? (and please dont say "it´s a day one release - it will probably get better"). As a "serious simmer" (I don't like the expression, but for me it's about the equipment), I don't want to be dependent ONLY on the servers after I've started all my components. (probably no one) !! That's why I've always been very skeptical about this "online obligation" - and here it's just about getting to the main menu, and not about "flying into the sky without limits"! Sad, but unfortunately it was to be expected ! BR ! AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D , watercooled, GeForce RTX 4090, RAM 64GB Kingston Fury 6000Mhz , Fractal Design 7 XL, MSI X670 Carbon, all SSD

November 19, 20241 yr I feel one of the things that might have helped a tiny bit is allowing more of the program to be installed before release. Yeah, we installed some sort of installer the past week but nothing close to the whole thing. Also a company as BIG as M$ can easily afford to have back up server capacity for the launch. After a period of time that extra server capacity goes back to doing what it was doing before. I totally except performance issues and other minor hiccups even long install/load times but buying an expensive ticket for the show and being thrown out the door on launch day is not okay.

November 19, 20241 yr It's reported that Netflix had the same problem with overload during the boxing match the other night. So many users that the system couldn't handle it. They are concerned now that it will happen during the Christmas day NFL games. This appears to be the same problem. I'll guess I'll just have to wait until the rush hour (day) is over. Streaming is just not advanced enough to handle a large amount of users. i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive

Downloaded just fine at 11am, setup at KEWR in the yellow Cessna and took off. I decided to go to the chase plane view and lost all control, nothing worked, the aircraft crashed and I was unable to go to any menu. Had to ctrl+alt+del to close the program. The program is installed now, so I go to run a second time and I'm in a queue for over three hours. What a joke! November 19, 20241 yr And this is why, in my day job of an IT Systems Architect, I lean customers towards Amazon AWS rather than Microsoft Azure - MS can't scale quickly and easily to demand anything like as well as AWS and this kind of proves it once and for all. MS wanted to use their cloud infrastructure to show the world how awesome it was and they've kind of shot both feet off and proved the complete opposite. I also happen to believe that stumping up £130 for a copy of a game should entitle you to be pushed to more "Premium" servers with less congestion. I'd go so far as to say that Game Pass users should be on a whole different set of infrastructure to those who have opened their wallets and bought the full game, with the higher priced versions getting access to progressively less congested servers and networks. I've paid £130 for access to a game that someone else has paid £10 for as part of Game Pass (and even that assumes they only got GP for MSFS24) and potentially they've got access and I haven't? WTAH?

November 19, 20241 yr Basically I have exactly the same problem as you guys. But I'm no worry about first day of MSFS2024 launch.
