However, some people don’t see, either because they don’t want to admit the problem is there, or because they don’t have a keen attention to details.

Or they either don't have the problem, see it in certain locations only, or understand the stage technology is at.

Your response I quoted above is the reason simmers have turned against you in this thread.  Simmers want to get as close to reality as possible.  I'm just like many, spending hours and hours tweaking settings, colours, drivers and add-ons. I have done such tweaking for years.

2024 so far has been different in this regard. I haven't felt the need for any tweaking of the display at all. The view is the best yet I have seen in a simulator. Is it perfect? No of course not, but it is an advancement.

I take my swimming quite seriously and I pay attention to detail, yet I do not see the problem you are describing on my system on my screen.  The screenshot and video I posted show MSFS display sharp out to the distance, yet you dismiss them.

Have a think of how to get people engaged with your problem. The opening gambit of ' I perceived a problem therefore MSFS is rubbish' is not the best way.  We are all passionate about flight sim and your approach is bound to upset people.

I agree with the OP.  In 2020 on a clear night flying over Europe at 34000 while the lights of towns and cities within a close radius look realistic in the mid distance and beyond they look a blurry mess - LOD at 400 makes no difference.  I was hoping this might be fixed in 2024 but it seems not.

Night flying is absolutely terrible. I get a feeling of dread towards the end of a flight if I can't make it down before sunset. I regularly cheat and put the clock back an hour so i don't have to suffer that ugliness. I use fsx and p3d for my night flights for that very reason.

What about the melting buildings and "sculpted" tree problems on the ground in MSFS2020/24; are these still a valid problem? They were the most disgusting issue and immersion killer, at least for me.

Always want to fly quietly like a little dragon, but unable to keep my mouth shut.

You and many others have now reported the same issue on this thread. This problem has also been reported across many forums. This is not a HDR or color settings issue. This is a sim problem. However, some people don’t see, either because they don’t want to admit the problem is there, or because they don’t have a keen attention to details.

I have MSFS2020.

I do not have to look some miles away to see the problems.

Actually, I see the problem in the distance while setting on the departure runway.

If I slowly taxi down the runway and on departures I also see a few autogen buildings popping up near me.

I am not a constant tweaker of the MSFS2020 product.
I do test problems reported in the forums to verify if I see the same or not.

I am interested in learning:
The MSFS2020 interface.
Setting up my controllers (Saitek Flight yoke, Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, Thrustmaster TCA) with user profiles.
New payware aircraft / Helicopters systems that I do not have in Xplane11/12, FSX-Steam, P3D4/5/6 and MSFS2020 across two PC setups.
Flight planning.
Navigation.
Procedures (SID/STAR/Approaches).
Proper operation of the various aircraft (flying the plane/helo) in MSFS2020’s world wide On-line weather system.

Really, since when? I have read very diverse opinions supporting my point. And whether a group of simmers turn against me, that my friend, doesn’t crush my dreams.

@ Huascar,

Just a quick follow up because you had previously mentioned KDCA.

I have a mix of High/Medium graphics settings in FS2024, & the vista at, say, 10,000' looking forward in the cockpit out to the horizon, is the 1st half of the ground scenery is defined, has trees & so on, but past that there are no trees & the land & hills look like a water color painting of bare hills. There are color toning differences, but no vegetation.

I’ll just make one final point, I did not attack anyone personally in my original post. I simply expressed an opinion of my experience with MSFS 2020 and 2024. Following my post, some simmer alluded that I had issues with my eye sight because the font in my post were too large and thus the reason why I was seeing distorted textures. I still tried to maintain civility by saying I accidentally selected a large font, promising to make the adjustments. The discussion degraded from there, with a string of insults and personal attacks. If you attack me, I will reply in kind.

You're slightly banking. A shot like that may be unacceptable to the OP 😆

Although I do understand the problem Huascar is addressing, I doubt if it is possible to 'fix' it with current hardware and technology. However, the way MSFS 2020 and 2024 look is the closest to real life I have ever seen.

Cheers, Bert

The issue with your picture is that your gamma is way too dark on the ground. You have a radiant sun and the buildings and objects on the ground should not be dark. I can also fix the blurry horizon if I adjust the clarity of the picture, but it makes the ground very dark and disproportionate in relation to the sky. Does that make sense?

Another screenshot, same as previous KDCA approach screenshot but sooner in the sequence.

Gamma , well, I normally do not make changes like that but I could look into it.

Thanks for the tip.

As long as I can see landmarks, hazards, aircraft etc. I just continue.

My comment on this entire issue is this: I have flown countless times in many different aircraft, large and small, at altitudes high and low, in all kinds of weather, over many years, and I have NEVER seen the horizon sharp, EVER. There is this thing called the earth's atmosphere that causes this effect, and any flight simulator that depicts a sharp horizon at distances beyond a few miles is just plain unrealistic.

I think people that expect to see a clear horizon, at distance, have never flown a real aircraft.
