Sim Update 2 Beta Released

Featured Replies

The little time I was in su2, I noticed the ground crew were using the sticks to direct traffic at parking. Figured I'd get the x when I needed to stop but, they just kept waving. So...right over the top of 'em, just to see if they'd stop.😉

Also, noticed addon plane pics showing up in the freeflight screen, upper left.

I think a lot of the issues stem from addons. An internal QA team will test a completely clean install to make sure nothing obvious breaks out of the box. Afterwards it's exactly what the public beta

Just a heads up all, additional release notes containing the stuff we (WT) did for this currently available SU2 release are now available at https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sim-update-2-beta-1-4-

Yes.  I saw it on the MS forum, same issue. Constant CTD trying to navigate menu. Deleted streamed packages and now I’m flying the Max-8 (much improved btw).

Are you using FSLTL?

My streamed packages folder has oodles of things in it... is that the folder you are referring too? And will it all need to be downloaded again?

Cheers

Move your streamed packages folder, for heaven's sake don't delete it.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

VR: (pimax crystal light): huge improvement. In tracking, and I think in fps. I was investigating getting a lighthouse faceplate and a Steam base station. I won't need those now, tracking is perfect now using built in cameras. I have never seen it 100% perfect before.

I'm not sure about fps, because OpenXRToolkit broke a month or so ago and I can't display fps in VR.

EDIT: I also don't have to fool around adjusting the LED lamps on my desk to get tracking working. It traks now 100% in spite of what room lighting I use.

I was doing a CYYC to CYVR flight in the Max, and about 10 minutes from T/D my avionics died, and I have no idea why. Engines were still working.

Edit: hm the sim froze when trying to go back to the main menu from the A330.

That’s good news - fellow Crystal OG user here! But the three most anticipated items for VR users that MS/Asobo repeatedly said would be addressed aren’t in the release notes: DLSS4 native implementation and fixes for EFB and Toolbar in VR. I also didn’t see anything on fixing the rendering issue between lenses.

Hopefully, they’re still in the works and just didn’t make it into the initial version of the Beta. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

I loaded into the A350 fine, though I don't have time to do a flight, I'll have to test tomorrow

AIG models might be causing the sim to crash
if I enable default Live traffic with AIG models installed, It will crash, I just tried injecting BATC traffic with AIG it crashed
if I do live traffic with just the Asobo AI models I don't get a crash

I'll test just the FSLTL models later

EFB, Toolbar, Mouse too deep to interact in poppe dup windows (except the ATC): None of that is fixed or even different as far as my brief test flight showed. It seems odd to me that the mouse has always worked in the Asobo ATC window, but not EFB. It was still the same in my flight.

Oh right, this update also adds wake turbulence in multiplayer, and there's an option under Flight Interface to turn on visualization of it

Thanks for the updates, Glad i pulled out of the Beta. I'll wait till things settle down a bit....

Hope it all gets worked out for everyone.

Be nice if this somehow worked in Vatsim and the various AI injectors.

Aircraft Dynamic Registration (tail numbers) using 2020 payware aircraft, is all borked again with SU2 beta.  I read in the Release Notes that SU2 beta is now NOT supporting special characters in the ATC ID line or tail registration area in sim.  Previously I was using 3x NBSP characters in the ATC ID line within the aircraft.cfg (or 3x NBSP directly in the MSFS 2024 GUI).  When I just leave the line blank (aka filled with double quotes like in msfs 2020), the registration is blank for aircraft which accept DR (such as the FSR500, A2A Comanche, Black Square etc) ON FIRST LOAD.

But even worse, after returning to the main menu for a new flight, if I enter a new ATC callsign/tail number, the sim CTD instantly.

I don't know why Asobo is on the struggle bus for this.  Their system worked totally fine in MSFS 2020!

edit again:  I can confirm DR is also borked with the 2024 native aircraft.  For example I entered N445CM for the tail number on my CJ4.  In the sim it shows up on the tail with a white N44.  hehe.

Here's the bug thread I started on the main forums if you want to share your experiences.  After a MSFS 2024 re-start the TBM hasn't CTD'd but it still shows the cutoff number.

Hmm, my OpenXR Toolkit works fine even with SU2...

You using 1.3.8?

Seb said it should. But I don't have VATSIM, and FSLTL/AIG models are currently crashing the sim so I can't test any injectors.

But here's a couple default Live Traffic R22s I saw flying around PHNL with wakes modelled.

AI Aircraft don't appear to generate wake until they're off the ground, but some player aircraft generate it all the time. Though the CJ4 doesn't until off the ground.
