MSFS 2024 New SU2 beta version available (1.4.10.0)

This version still has the problem of the sim starting the first session in Free Flight on a runway ready for takeoff but in the overcommitted VRAM situation with single digit FPS.  Shutting the sim down and restarting the EXACT same flight/settings results in FPS greater than 55 and beautiful smooth scenery.  It is totally unpredictable - about 25% of my sessions in this Beta have started with over committed VRAM.

???

Do you mean single digit fps during take of roll? Correct. It's been there since the beginning. The fact that it doesn't re-occur after restarting the sim indicates it is unlikely that your GPU is the culprit. However 1.4.10 minimizes this. Especially when we lower Texture Resolution from High to Medium.

People have opened a complaint thread about bugs in the beta? Bizarre. Everyone in the beta signed up to find and report bugs. It's literally the point of a beta test build. You expect it to be broken

I am getting a great performance and stutter-free experience in this latest SU2 Beta. Dare I say for the first time I enjoyed a Concorde flight more in 2024 today than I have been getting in 2020. Som

Yes it just changes the base level of exposure, nothing that can't be done in reshade, filters etc. It does nothing about the auto-exposure.

Not an issue for me, I just move the Gamma slider in Nvidia Control Panel Desktop Color Settings. Maybe not perfect, but it makes it OK for me.

The auto exposure is not an issue for you, you mean?

Correct. Barely an inconvenience, LOL.

I do not see any difference when panning the view down to the dash. Because I changed the gamma setting. But this brightens things up to much. Which is not an issue by using the new EV setting to unbrighten it right back down to normal. Only now the gamma keeps forward windscreen view the same visibility as the panel.

Every monitor is different. I happen to use +1.30 gamma in NVP and -1.75 in msfs EV. I think everyone will have to find their own different values.

This same issue was here in the forums in early days of 2020 (auto exposure).

There may be other ways to adjust gamma without using NCP, I'm not sure.

I am getting some bad stutters when panning the camera, something I haven't had since 2020.

Edit: no not just when panning, but in general, even when the camera is still

My hardware specs below, not ultra hardware, but maybe barely high end. I get no stutters at all when panning in cockpit nor outside view. But then I don't run DLAA nor TAA, and stick to DLSS. The latest BETA.

EDIT: no stutters in 2D, no stutters in VR (PCL). Both 2D and VR in DLSS mode. The images are clearer cockpit and outside in DLSS compared to TAA (a little bit). Except on the glass screens.

What the heck is happening?

Empty Community - load a C 172 at KOKB airport in Free Flight.  Sometimes starts at 105 FPS other time starts at 30 FPS.  No matter how it starts - within 10-seconds the frame rate is bouncing between 100 and 10 in 5-second durations.

Using various resource usage monitors I see the execution time per frame in the CPU bouncing between 7 ms and 70 ms with the GPU time doing about the same.  The memory allocation, CPU and GPU, does not change.

This is sitting parked at the west end of the runway with the engine at idle.  Dropping the LODs to 50 and everything else to LOW does not change anything.  DLSS4/Frame Gen on or off / Quality, Balanced, Performance it is all the same.

If I can take off (hard to control and single engine prop at 5 FPS) and get above 2000-feet everything smooths out to over 80 FPS until I cross any runway threshold and then the FPS drops to single digit.

All this happens in over half my sessions.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D  / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display
NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker   / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking

Is the ground less blurry at high altitude with SU2 ?

Have you lowered the texture resolution?

Anyone know if they fixed the PG (or lack thereof) in Phoenix?

Two things I've noticed with this beta. Firstly, the ATR has disappeared. Secondly, don't ever start the sim in Safe Mode. If you do you'll have to re enable all of your addons when you start it normally. And this takes an age! Anyone else found these issues?

I'm curious if Texture Supersampling ever got into 2024's graphics setup as it's been in 2020 where I set at  8x.  Lately I've been struck that 2020 looks sharper in many spots include edge AA, as in plane bodies etc.

Try reenabling the ATR. TBH I find that 2024 routinely seems to disable random planes with no rhyme or reason.

I almost started it in safe mode a couple weeks ago but saw the warning that I would have to re-enable all my addons in "My library" just in time. Guess you missed it.
