August 5, 2025Aug 5 I noticed the update, but I was not even aware that it was Software Update 16 (although I noted the version number 1.39.9.0). I took my 737-600 up for a spin at MK Studios LEGE Girona Costa Brava, and I did not notice any problems with the terrain textures. They looked just fine to me. August 5, 2025Aug 5 I’ve been in SU16 for the entire time and I’ve never noticed an issue with LOD textures. They actually look as good or better. The water tiles are still terrible…or worse, though.
August 5, 2025Aug 5 The main update went quick, but a lot of content manager updates needed afterward. The release notes mention a Bing maps alignment with fs2024. I wonder what that is all about.

I don't know if they achieved full parity with SU16 but something they have been working towards. Hello rjquick, MSFS 2024 launched with newer, updated Bing Maps data compared to what was previously available for MSFS (2020). With SU16, both versions of the sim now use this newer data source instead of MSFS 2024 having the updated Bing Maps imagery and MSFS (2020) using an outdated map dataset. August 5, 2025Aug 5 I can see that the terrain mesh is way better than SU15 Mountains are a beauty to fly around . No need to addon mesh which was causing issues for me pre SU16 Its just we cannot use the Map Enhancement High LOD anymore , however for me , i run a 4k monitor and use the Nvidia Sharpening Filter and it less noticeable . Also , confirmed for anybody having issues with Bing Map LOD draw distance , an update is coming soon( as per the developer ) Edited August 5, 2025Aug 5 by planechaser
