The best Aircraft Addon so far ?

Featured Replies

Regardless of whether it is for MSFS2020 or 2024,  ( I am referring to MSFS2020. )

So for me it is Fenix A319,A320,A321 following from IFly MAX8 ( Hopefully, it will soon be possible to transfer the Siembrief data (weight and balance) to the EFB with a single click, rather than having to fill in the data manually, which is quite cumbersome. And make some different panel states that work after loading into the sim, like for example from PMDG on`s )

And the PMDG 777 all Variants is pretty good and OK !

And that's exactly how I would rank them:
1st place   = Fenix
2nd place = IFly MAX8
3rd place = PMDG 777

What do you think ?  ( Only the first 3, please ! )

cheers 😉

Fenix - no competition!

I like the PMDG 777 but I agree with the sentiment that they keep reheating and reselling the same thing since P3D days. There's just very little innovation, not making use of any of the new features in MSFS. Most obvious now that Fenix have essentially released an entirely new aircraft that's really pushing the boundaries without much fanfare and for free.

Fenix. Miles ahead.

'It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.'

Definitely Fenix. Needless to say the BFU has made it the best simulation of an airliner available on the market to date (in my opinion), and it was already incredible to begin with.

The iFly 737 MAX 8 is also absolutely excellent and would be on-par with it if it also had a BFU-like update to make it 2024 native, with the walkaround features and whatnot. The sounds are already awesome and it's a real fun challenge to fly if you've got used to the Airbus way of doing things, as there's a bit less automation in the systems and handling - no auto-trim, manual thrust on approach etc. Despite that it's very very nice to hand fly and very rewarding to master. I've got a lot of enjoyment out of it.

These are my top two. The PMDG 772 is a close third, but honestly for me both Fenix and iFly stand out quite far above PMDG at the moment.

What does it mean best so far.

From a year ago, 2 years ago or since 2020 came out.

That is a lot of airplanes

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

The JustFlight F28 imo is the best addon but that's just best to me. The aircraft itself is characteristic in a lot of ways that make it stand out from other planes. The sound design that JF have done is incredible. It hand flies superbly and the ground modelling is great. It's a satisfying plane to fly all round for nice short hauls.

I prefer to answer what I think to me, is the best in terms of what gives me, the most enjoyment. Of course Fenix wins best overall and Imagine that's what most will say here.

1. Fenix  320

2. Blackbird C130 Dirty 30

3. A2A Aerostar 600

It is easier for MSFS 2024:

1. BlackSquare Starship

2. A2A Aerostar 600

3. Probably Fenix, but I haven't used it yet. Among jetliners that I already tried in MSFS 2024, I like the JustFlight Avro RJ.

GA

1. A2A Aerostar

2. BS Starship

3. FlightFX Citation X

Commercial

1. Just Flight RJ

2. Just Flight F28

3. TBD

Are we just talking tubeliners? If so it's the Fenix no contest for me, followed by the PMDG 777 and then the ini A350. Need to get my hands on the iFly sometime soon.

If we're also talking GA aircraft then there are also many choices, especially with the flurry of great aircraft that have been released recently.

Also have to say, for the fact that it is free (and also despite it), the FBW A380 is a stellar aircraft at its current stage of development and lots of things to look forward including a conversion to native MS2024.

Oh yes I forgot the FBW A380. That'll be another contender on my list once we have a 2024 native build for it and some performance improvements. It's a seriously impressive aircraft especially for being offered freeware. And another one that has fantastic sounds!

It is hard for me to compare airliners and GA aircraft at the same time, they are different kinds of aircraft for different kinds of missions and are vastly different in their complexity. I go through long phases of flying either airliners or GA, airliners for two or three months and then back to GA for a few months then back again. But if I can have two lists:

Airliners

  1. Fenix, but a wide margin now
  2. iFly, also by a healthy margin
  3. PMDG 777, but it is certainly training now; I have not flown it very much in 2024 at all; and I will pass on buying them a cup of coffee for the 2024 NGs

GA

  1. A2A, hard toss up between the Comanche and the A600, they simply fly so well and provide so much immersion
  2. Blacksquare, the Dukes also fly and land so well and the engine simulation is excellent
  3. I actually don't have a third, that is my whole GA hanger.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Commercial

1st place   = IFly MAX8
2nd place = RJ Professional
3rd place = Boeing 727

GA

1st place   = Commanche 250
2nd place = Dukes (Piston or Turbine)
3rd place = Aerostar (Soon to be #1 with a bullet)

Going to cheat

350? A lot of “the systems aren’t designed the way they are in the real plane”. Honest question: how many of us in this forum can even tell? It’s number 1 for me at this time.

Fenix? They’re getting praise from everyone. And it’s deserved!

A380: For what it is and how it’s developed, I’m a fan of this plane!

2 things to consider. Some of us don’t have all the addons. I don’t have the iFly, the Starship nor the Avro RJ series. These posts usually devolve into “mines is better than yours”. It would be great if people can suggest why the addons they choose are their personal top 3. I’m looking for good planes to grab!
