The best Aircraft Addon so far ?

Featured Replies

Black Square Starship - this has impressed me so much (and challenged me) that I'll need to add some more of the Black Square aircraft to my hangar.

My other favorites are actually Asobo aircraft, though all of them have been enhanced:

  • Turbo Bonanza mod - still flying well
  • CJ4 & Longitude (WT really made these into jewels)

I've agreed with most of what most have said here but just cannot get my head around the followers of the FSR500. Yes I agree Raul has pushed the envelope in many respects, but (for my liking) there is far too much of it that feels like a budget-basement add-on, and that ego ... 🤔 [insert shrug emoji]

Hmmm…really surprising take.
id genuinely be interested to know what parts y’all find budget basement vs pushing the envelope.

in terms of flight model, this is one of the nicest handling GA addons available. When combined with the Garmin glass cockpit and the ultra-automated systems, it’s excellent for just getting in and going somewhere without a lot of fuss. Very similar to why I like the Longitude so much.

so if there’s a better glass cockpit turboprop out there, please let me know 🤙

as far as his ego, I feel about Raul exactly like I feel about Randazzo: I couldn’t care less.

I don't care about any Airbus. My favorites have nothing to do with "best", just what is best for me.

Aerosoft CRJ

FSS E-170/190

PMDG 737-700/800

ATR...until it started regular WASM freeze

Only do GA / Bush so:

1) A2A Comanche

2) Cows DA42

3) Cows DA40

I’ve been thinking about the 42, mainly because I like the glass cockpit vs most of the other Hi Fi addons which seem to be steam gauge.

is it really “that good”…?

And I know I'm in the minority preferring the Piston Duke (in particular, the Grand Duke) to the turbine

You are not alone... I had both RealAir Dukes and always preferred the piston version.  This time around, that is the only version I bought.. 😉

There is NOTHING about the FSR500 that is budget basement (apart from the price!).  The attention to detail that has gone into making this accurate to real-life is astonishing, and I've witnessed it in real time as it was built. Just saying... And what ego? @simbol is a stand out guy who lives to build authentic experiences for people.  I don't see any ego there, just a burning desire to make products the absolute best they can be...

Ditto. But like a fool I bought the bundle. But I've only installed the piston. Which is marvellous. There are now four excellent twins. A600, Piston Duke, C310 and the C414. The last one that I fly is invariably the best.

IF you love old school. It is great. You can go full out. Lots of buttons and things to do. Or you can let the engineer do the work and concentrate on being a pilot. Best of both worlds. Word of caution. Its very different from modern airplanes

FWIW, I met Raul a few times at FSExpo. Really nice guy. Has a lot of passion for what he does. He never came across as egotistical to me.
