New - Seafront Simulations Global Shipping 24

Looks like cruise ships and ferry lines might not be included in this package, and would be a serious omission if one is looking for a global solution to a shipping addon.

Seafront's FAQ specifically states that cruise ships _are_ included:

Quote

Q: Why aren’t ferries included in Global Shipping 2024?

A: Global Shipping 24 focuses on large-scale global commercial traffic — cargo ships, tankers, bulk carriers, trawlers, LNG vessels, dredgers, cruise ships, and more — covering major oceanic and coastal trade routes worldwide.

(emphasis mine)

Only ferries are regional.

Instead of the 48-hour tease, they would have been better served to actually make it available so we could try it. As it stands, I have already decided to skip this. There are too many addons anyway.

Isn't this like GAIST (free)?

GAIST ship helipads are not landable, which is kind of a bummer for heli sim pilots who like to harass maritime trade vessels by landing and conducting imaginary cargo inspections ... 😉

I have the 2020 product, and I’ve also used GAIST too - the issue I have is the Asobo logic behind it.

it’s all well and good having great models. Which may or may not link with real traffic - but if both end up with spinning cargo ships etc then I’m not sure I really want to spend anymore money on this.

I think they need to clear up confusion.. So I buy this and then ALSO the regional packs? What's the difference? This one only does large ships and nothing else? Or the ships never come close to shore?

This kind of pricing model always makes me walk away.. I understand that some people only fly in certain areas and so they can afford to buy addons for that area alone. But I like to go all over the world, so I prefer global addons, free or paid. No point buying a Baleric region and then never fly there.

It looks interesting and is cheap-ish, so I'll wait for some reviews to see what it's really like.

Fair points. Keep in mind that this originally shipped back in v2020 when, until/other than GAIST, the Nautical Scene was pretty sparse, at best.

Now, with v2024 having really amped global shipping up as a base sim feature, it's possible this is somewhat redundant for many folks. But then again, so are many payware airports 🙂

TL, DR: think of each "pack" or location as a payware airport. It's as simple as that. So basically, if you've ever bought a payware airport, then this is exactly the same idea - you want to enhance the maritime traffic & models in a certain area? You consider adding one of these in. 🙂 🤙

Here's a FREE scenery so you can try it on for size: Vessels The Channel Islands - Orbx. Since I especially love flying in the UK, I immediately gave this a try way back when it first released. What I saw I really liked, and yeah, that enticed me to purchase a few other Packs from them, esp the first one that offered landable ships: the Hawaiian Islands (like helo flying isn't hard enough!!! 😂

Here's the ones I have, and they've added enough to the sim for me that I would buy them again (so, yeah, I'm in for the new version 🙂 )

Vessels Global Shipping - Orbx (this is probably the "most redundant" package)

Vessels Enhanced AI - Orbx There are enhanced ship models that replace the base sim's vessel assets

Vessels The Hawaiian Islands - Orbx (lots of military ships and such with helo decks - big to small 🙂 )

Vessels UK South East - Orbx (more heli decks!)

Oh, and P.s.: each package is indeed independent of all the others.

I have always used this together with GAIST in FS2020 with no issues.  In the previous version GAIST stated the following: In MSFS general options under traffic ships and ferries should be set to 5-10 % for best performance. Increasing above 10% will not add any traffic to this project.

It is my understanding that Seafront sets itself automatically mattering on the region.

I'd love to see some tuna boats included so I could put my Hughes 500C to work tuna spotting!

Can you have a look at my question about having a ton of yachets spawn in the Great Lakes using GAIST, will I have the same issue with your product ?
