For me, scanning my computer is unacceptable. I might stop using PMDG—or at least OC3—even though I’ve purchased the 737, 777, and DC-6.

Do you use Navigraph? If so, since it scans my Community folder for every airplane installed to manage the nav data on, you may want to add them to your naughty list also.

I went to breakfast Saturday. Had an omelette, coffee and toast. The wife also had similar. We stayed for 45 minutes. The bill was $40. The benefit wore off in 5-6 hours, and then we prepared for dinner.

Buying an upgrade to a product that will provide hundreds of hours of benefit is definitely not something i am going to think about for one minute. Now, flying to Hawaii cattle car instead of first class, saving thousands? Yes, i think about that. Eating at a nice restaurant and dropping $500+ versus buying and cooking at home, saving $300? Yeah, I think about that.

This PMDG upgrade is literally the definition of no brainer - to me.

Yes, launchers scan the Community folder — that part is not disputed. The intent and scope of what’s being scanned absolutely is. There’s a big difference between:

checking whether your own product is installed / up to date
and

actively scanning for other products and using that information to flag users as potential pirates

That’s where this crosses a line for a lot of people

Is your second point your own opinion or a statement issued by another party? Clarification please.

It is not an upgrade, the people here wants a real upgrade, not the same old soup.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

This development update also offers a good picture of what this new 737 actually represents, with PMDG framing this release as more of a ground-up redevelopment intended to reset the 737 product line for the MSFS 2024 era, instead of a simpler compatibility update.

What products are you referring to? I thought this was about PMDG flagging pirated copies of its 737?

It's already reached catastrophic proportions – you only have to look in other corners of the internet.

What's happening right now can only be explained by the producers' boundless overconfidence.

To put it cautiously (and so far based only on rumors, which are, however, becoming increasingly credible): If it turns out in the coming weeks that OC3 is more or less scanning all hard drives of PMDG's customers, then that would be a clear violation not only of EU data protection laws.

It looks like exciting times are ahead (at least) for IT lawyers.

If you remember, years ago, the same mentality (computer scanning via a code embedded in their software) was at FsLabs and became problematic.

What I saw from the the YT videos is the same FMC with washed colors, not to mention other many things never corrected. But If you are a beta tester, I'm sure your opinion is better than mine.

Hello Ray.  Can I ask why?  Am I missing something, or is this something I should look up elsewhere due to politics or potential legal issues?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

It’s my opinion. I would have definitely quoted a source if it were from some other party.

However, guys here are correct, I’ll give them that, but, the issue here isn’t scanning per se — it’s what is being scanned, how it’s being scanned, where any collected data is sent, and who ultimately collects and uses that data.

Just search for “malware” and FS Labs”.

In that case you should have made it clear it’s a personal opinion and not a statement of fact. I’ll let it go this time.

Stick to what is known and if anyone else wants to make any guesses be careful what you write.
