Conclusions after several months with MSFS 24

Featured Replies

Wait, you're saying A2A, Black Square et al suck?

I think we're flying different sims here.

The default flight models have been VASTLY improved since FSX/P3D.  The Addon flight models are even better.

I really wish you well.  You can always have P3D v5. 🙂

I'm a long standing member here.  This needs to be said.  Ray, you're one of the mods who has held a bias against MSFS (2020 and 24) for quite some time.  I really wish we had some mods who are in sup

I couldn't disagree any further here, with all due respect most naval or miliary aviators are not the best judge of GA, airliners or corporate bizjets. I have been flying the ga and the bizjets now fo

The airplanes fly like (enter bad word here) and the systems suck.  All of them including Black Square, A2A, FLYSIMWARE, and Blackbird.

MSFS is a child's toy to be played on XBox by kids that should be doing their homework.

I'm struggling to believe you've been flying 51 years, because that would make you at least in your late 60s, yet you write like an entitled teenager 😄

Perhaps - the issue isn't MSFS2024, but your expectations that a PC release for less than $100 should behave like a Level D simulator.

If you're happy with ol' P3D then enjoy it.  Why come to the forum of people who enjoy MSFS and **** all over their parade?

Which often do not have the exact behaviour of an aircraft.

There is way too many variables and data points of a plane flying through the air for it to ever be 100%. With our current tech anyway. Who knows what the future holds.

I think what we have now with 2024 is great, they just need to work on the weather and turbulence simulation, you shouldnt be able to fly through thunderstorms in a Cessna and just get a little bump here n there.

If you like p3d, why would you not like 2024 is my question, you get everything that p3d gives you plus better visuals, world data streaming, modern gaming engine, more acurate flying with CFD simulation and much more. As much as I agree that you can have your own opinion, I feel this is just another monthly, "Im bored let me write up something to stir up the pot" post. I'm pretty sure we get these at least once or twice a month.

There is no stated goal.  It was a lament.

If I had a goal it would be that Asobo and the developers would open the architecture to the point users had the same access to the product as we had in P3D and could therefore make corrections to bad and marginal products such that they become pleasing to use.

This time is over, and even more with 2024..

Another reason why I didn't switch to MSFS2024 is that those things ( corrections ) are still better in MSFS2020.

But never would be like in the older Sims ! This seems to be over in the NEW Sims..

cheers 😉

Soon after fs2024 came out, I decided to write in Jorg Neumann's name when I voted for President. But he didn't win 😞

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

As someone with thousands of hours of experience driving a VW Sportwagen with climate control, I really think I need to point out how incredibly unrealistic the air conditioning is in the sim. I barely feel a difference in my office no matter how much I crank it up in the cockpit. SMH, when will these developers learn?

That's my chief complaint.  I guess I'm too old or too stupid to understand why.  It costs the developers nothing.  It wouldn't eat into profits.  It would only serve to improve the product.  That is already going on at Flightsim.to in every other part of the sim.  Liveries, addons, addons that emulate features that were included in past sims, pop-ups, libraries, scenery, paintkits, you name it.  But the aircraft internals, the most important things in the simulator (or game as Asobo calls it) are the flying qualities of the aircraft and the operation of their systems. For whatever reason, that territory is forbidden.  Maybe it's an "Intellectual Property" thing.  Maybe they value their IP more than the value quality in the product.  Oh, what this sim could be!

@whamil77 offers some valid points in this heated debate. However, some people refuse to see the problems, ignore obvious issues, or simply don't care, leading to defensive reactions. Others avoid calling out clear issues. This indifferent attitude and resistance to improvement hinder the simulator from reaching its full potential. Despite claims of excellent data streaming, problems such as internet connection issues, texture loading errors, and incorrect seasonal textures—such as grass where there should be snow—persist. Additionally, statements about accurate flying with CFD are misleading, as only a few ASOBO aircraft actually use it, and only a few developers fully understand and leverage these features.

still precise enough for 95% of users, of which only a select few are test pilots who have never (and never will) experienced fully developed stalls, icing, vertigo, out of fuel, engine problems, sudden unexpected weather deterioration etc in real life. MSFS is not exactly meant to primarily please or train navy/commercial pilots but the broad and highly diverse range of aviation enthusiasts. MSFS is the sim with the broadest feature set and is still more user friendly than any other.

looking forward to SU 5, while we wait for ongoing improvements in MSFS 2028 or whenever.

I'm not trying to start any conflict. If 95% of users think the TBM 850, A321, 737 MAX 8, A-10, BN-2, and ASOBO C 172 are sufficiently accurate based on using CFD data, I fully agree.

However, if users believe that the other aircraft using outdated aerodynamic tables are accurate, it suggests we might be dealing with placebo effects.

Your opinions are your own.
If P3D was good enough,
why not just use it and leave
lesser mortals alone.
