What I haven't seen is an explanation for why a forum post from April 2025 that originally said "free" was changed to say "paid". That's the one and only thing here that rubs me the wrong way.

Which they apologized for .. So you gonna accept the apology and move on or not? This is what @ryanbatc is talking about. They took the time to explain what happened and its apparently still not enough for some. They made a mistake with changing that post .. they apologized. Apart from the apology they still have a business to run and costs to address. Make an objective value proposition and decide if you want their product ....or not..

Unless you feel this is something you need to hold a grudge over... 🤷‍♂️

  • Well my take is that the price of everything in the world is going up hugely, very very quickly. What was correct when announced in April 2025 may be wildly out now given the rising cost of everything

What I'm seeing is people criticizing not the fact that the -100 will be paid rather than free (as initially announced) but the way in which it was communicated. Which IMO is entirely fair criticism, and it's certainly not entitlement.

It's rampant, it's not just here. It's people complaining about 2020 to 2024 native addon upgrade fees, to just anyone complaining about the cost of making products. If a new addon isn't 29.99 USD there are complaints. I have people demanding I update my FREE paints the moment a new update is released that breaks it. I have had people nearly demand I make them a paint for free. I charge a fee to make paints (usually when I don't want to do a certain paint) that some people say is crazy.

So many people in the world today have the very latest iPhone, but whine about the cost of an addon that brings them hundreds if not thousands of hours of entertainment. And said flightsim addon costs a fraction of the cost of a new iphone.

If Synaptic decided they need to charge for additional variants, that's a business decision they get to make! If people don't want to buy it, that's a decision people get to make! The whining about it is ridiculous over the small price we pay for how much enjoyment people get.

It's pretty obvious, so people reading the old dev updates wouldn't given wrong information.

If that was the intent, then the edit should be marked as such to make it clear there's been a change, rather than making it look as if they had said all along that the upgrade would be paid.

I can't stand any of that either, but that's not what's going on in this thread?

Absolutely, agree 100%.

What has dampened my enthusiasm about this particular product is the feeling that I've been hoodwinked. I realize others may feel differently.

How are you hoodwinked when you hadn't even bought it? You didn't buy it with the promise they were going to add free variants. My grammar sucks... sorry. But if you had bought it today with the promise that more variants would be free, then YES I agree that would be poor business practice and downright wrong.

If you purchase in 2020 Marketplace the product, will it be available in 2024 the native version too? and or viceversa?

$83.99 CAD

I was all "hot to trot", heading to the marketplace to pick it up until I hit the $64.99 wall - Yiikes. I'm going to wait for the Black Friday special on this one.

Well, I'll be waiting to see the verdict on how good this A220 is. I know there are YT videos and streamers out there but I want the regular simmers here with normal systems specs that didn't get their copies for free to give it an impartial review.

As bad luck would have it, my internet failed overnight last night and they can’t get a tech out to figure out the fix until Thursday, so I’ll have to live vicariously through all of your forum reports on the A220 until then!

No, I didn't. But when a development update from a year ago changes from saying "free update " to "paid update", notably without being marked as an edit, I feel as if someone's trying to make me believe something that isn't true. I don't like that.

I'll be waiting and watching on this release. No hurry, I still have many more planes to fly.

I had planned to buy this on release but the price point for an untested developer seems ambitious. ( For me about £10 too ambitious )

So for me , it's wait and see what others think in the MSFS Forums.

Meanwhile , have we not got Blacksquare to look forward to?

Apart from the usual flightsim drama, what is the expected fidelity of this aircraft?

Is it comparable to the fidelity of top-tier airbus simulations (Fenix and FSL)?
