I cannot for the life of me get the terrain overlay working. Yep, I installed the terrain file from the downloader and ran the exe to setup as per the synaptic website.

Everytime I open FS2024 I get a "writing to the exe" popup that just sits there in the background and never goes away.

I go in to the sim, make sure I select terrain overlay on the ND map and nothing ever appears. Spent a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot. The terrain module app entry appears in the exe.xml when I open the XML file to check. With the correct path, but that is as far as it goes. Its also annoying to have the dialog box "writing to the exe" constantly opening when booting the sim!

I have been looking forward to this one. I went ahead and purchased and all was well on the initial startup and taxi out at KMSP. It was very smooth on pushback and taxi out and I was looking forward to the departure. I am not sure what caused it but as soon as I entered the runway, severe stutters started and was barely able to takeoff. I had to end the flight right after liftoff due to the severe performance degradation. I did not have the terrain option turned on, the only thing I had done was hit direct to my first waypoint before entering the runway. Will try again but that was not good...

I believe you were on the ROUTE page in FMS. When you fly again, make sure FMS is NOT on the ROUTE page. Only select the ROUTE page if you need to change something there, and once you're finished, select any other page.

It's a known bug that causes performance degradation on the ROUTE page. It has already been fixed, but it still depends on Microsoft pushing the update to the marketplace.

I am going to throw caution into the wind and purchase it. The regional market stinks. Just unfinished aircraft. I have purchased regrettable aircraft before (hello Aerosoft). Hopefully this is better. I understand it was just released so I expect some bugs possible . Even PMDG has them on initial releases. I won't be kind if it has features that will come in later releases. Haven't seen anything like that in reviews yet.

I think many would agree that the CRJ is pretty good these days. Granted it took years to get to that point. I like the CRJ alot.

The F28, 70 & 100 are really good as well

The big problem I have with Justflight is that on the Avro RJ / and new Fokker's they chose to not allow people with hardware to have their units display the data from the airplane. I do not have a single other airplane with this pretty large limitation. Still fun planes don't get me wrong. But that alone means a tier down for me.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I'm a bit disappointed. Performance was poor especially on takeoff. And my flaps broke en route for no apparent reason.

I have some interest in this aircraft but have to take these initial "airbus pilot" reviews with a grain of salt because they tend to not want to say much negatives for fear of not receiving future prerelease review offers from the devs. I'll wait and see. I also don't want to purchase via Marketplace if at all possible. Time will tell,, so again, I'll wait and see.

My specs:  AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

after the following on release.....

a 737 with wasm issues, that you had to "buy a coffee for"

a 777 with no fan blades and pitch issues

a 350 that couldnt fly in a straight line and had wasm issues

a 747 that the braking and taxing was knackered

a 320 (fenix) that wouldnt stay on the centre line

a 330(aerosoft) that was just horrific

a over hyped 787 (hs) with pitch issues on rotation and climb issues

a over hyped 380 (fbw) with terrble vram leaks

a 321 neo (fsl) the proformance was that bad they had to bring in 2 patches, one removing the cabin.

Ill let you lots jump in and buy it on release (ironically I would argue the second biggest week of the year for sales for kids holidays, after the christmas week)

This mans been burned numerous times before.. Ill hold off thanks

I managed a short flight (after following a tutorial video from A320 Sim Pilot - would recommend!) from MSP to DLH at FL230.

This aircraft is very different than anything I've ever flown, which to me is a positive, because it's interesting. The avionics alone are very different (but still fairly intuitive) than anything else.

My PC is now a mid-tier system with 12700K (the real limiting factor), a RTX 4080 (still a solid card) and 64GB ram. IMO, the extra ram has really helped with stutters in 2024 - most of the time people who say they have stutters have 32. I did notice some performance degradation with this aircraft after a while (maybe 30 min). However I was running a lot of FSLTL traffic and heavy cloud layers, along with TLOD 200 and mostly ultra settings. I enjoy pushing my rig to the max - I do run 1440p though while some may run 4k. I think at 4k my system would probably stutter a bit with this aircraft.

I did enjoy the solid visuals, both inside and out. The sounds were amazing! Taxiing around sounded like real life hehe! The flight model is really interesting. It's like fly-by-wire kinda, but you have to manually trim the plane to follow the blue target triangle, in climb and descent. You're essentially, trimming for a speed. I'll have to read more into that. It's certainly not a super fast plane during climb and descent. Then again MSP is very hot today (31C) and I struggled to get 2000 fpm with a mostly full plane of pax and about half fuel. However, the A220 is very efficient so that may be why I wasn't seeing amazing climbs. Actually from my experience as an ATC, 2000 fpm is pretty decent, so maybe the plane was doing fine.

I kinda rushed the arrival phase (DLH has no STARS) and I think I missed a config value or two, because it left me high on the RNAV 09. It seemed to follow the LPV GP but it was still high to the runway. Maybe a navigraph issue?

I want to post a few pics but the forum isn't working very well with Flikr anymore. (No one seems to know why)

Usually one pic works, so I'm adding this one with cool wingtip vortices! It was very humid today and it's a nice feature!

I think the addon is pretty solid, maybe in need of a little optimization. I'd give it a 7/10 at the moment.

(edit gross pics won't show at all now GRRRR)

If you have the patience, I'd bet waiting a week, until the the first update(s) drop onto the MP would save a lot of pain. The 'Route' page bug sounds nasty but they've said that it is fixed - just waiting on MS to get back from an extended lunch and get back to work on the queue 😉

As of this moment, I've shelved it until the next update. I haven't had any issues with a CTD lately. Did multiple long hauls this week in excess of 12+ hours without any issues using the A350 and 777. Today I took the A220 out and during the taxi, I had a CTD. Didn't think much of it. Reloaded the flight and made it in the air. Went into the routes page to delete a discontinuity and was quickly met with another CTD after the massive performance drop that others have pointed out.

Specs are in my signature, but it's nothing to sneeze at with a 4090, 13900k, and 64 GB RAM. Running FGx3 and AutoFPS.

Same thing was happening to me - I did a full computer reboot and its now showing terrain on displays, the .exe popup window never went away but at least terrain is working

So many people in the world today have the very latest iPhone, but whine about the cost of an addon that brings them hundreds if not thousands of hours of entertainment. And said flightsim addon costs a fraction of the cost of a new iphone.

Now imagine a fictional nightmare where Apple made flight simulators and add-ons for it. Just imagine how bad the pricing scheme would be with zero possibility for modding.

What do you mean? I have a Mobiflight profile for the Avro RJ that allows me to use the WinCTRL PAP3 MCP with it where all the AP values are displayed on it. The profile had a bug where it didn't display CRS2 Selector so I used debug mode and Ctrl+G to grab the value of the LVAR and then program it into the Mobiflight profile. Is this what you're looking for or something completely different?

It wasn't a leak, they just hadn't optimized it yet, with no LODs done for the model.

We aren’t talking about mcp. We are talking about the cdu flight computers. I program my own hardware with spad next. Until just flight exposes the cdu I will wait.

Miraculously my internet was working when I went home, so I bought the plane and went for a short flight YYZ-YOW. On the performance concerns, while I recognize I'm a bit of an edge case with a 5090, it didn't seem noticeably worse on performance than other airliners. I didn't encounter the noted issue with the route page tanking performance either so that's interesting.

Overall as Ryan said above, an interesting and different aircraft, I managed to get it from point A to B, but definitely need to dive into some tutorials to familiarize myself with some of the processes and quirks of the aircraft.

I seemed to have messed something up setting up the FMS as the thrust mode wouldn't change automatically. As far as I could tell, all weights, cruise altitude etc were entered correctly and fully but I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

Tried to fly three times and freeze up first time then crash the second. The third had everything programmed got one engine going and it crashed to desktop. Had to call up task manager twice. Gonna wait for updates as currently unflyable.
