  1. Hello Everyone, I trying to use FreeTrack V2.2 lastest version with Prepar3d V2, without success so far. I have "log" P3D simconnect, which shows no connection : _________________________________________________________ 0.00000 SimConnect version 2.0.0.0 0.04641 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv4, Address=127.0.0.1, Port=60500, MaxClients=256 0.07365 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v2\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.09884 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.12397 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Microsoft ESP\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.15788 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D™\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.19010 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v2\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.22349 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv6, Address=::1, Port=10596, MaxClients=64 0.25513 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv4, Address=127.0.0.1, Port=10597, MaxClients=64 _________________________________________________________ Here is a simconnect log of working FSX with FreeTrack _________________________________________________________ 0.00000 SimConnect version 10.0.61259.0 0.02441 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv4, Address=127.0.0.1, Port=60500, MaxClients=256 0.05035 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimConnect, MaxClients=64 0.06509 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv6, Address=::1, Port=11431, MaxClients=64 0.07523 Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv4, Address=127.0.0.1, Port=11432, MaxClients=64 0.15271 Exe Launched: Path="C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe" CommandLine="-nogui" Version="<Unknown>" _________________________________________________________ > 33.09625 [383, 1]Open: Version=0x00000002 Name="Set Data" > 33.09635 [383, 2]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09639 [383, 3]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09642 [383, 4]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09644 [383, 5]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09646 [383, 6]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09649 [383, 7]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09651 [383, 8]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09654 [383, 9]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 > 33.09656 [383, 10]CameraSetRelative6DOF:fDeltaX=0.027193, fDeltaY=-0.005697, fDeltaZ=-0.728215, fPitchDeg=63.536755, fBankDeg=0.050098, fHeadingDeg=-65.701195 _________________________________________________________ For that I have used a simconnect.ini _________________________________________________________ [simConnect] level=Verbose console=Yes file=C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\SimConnect%01u.Log file_max_index=9 _________________________________________________________ I have the same simconnect.xml in both FSX and P3D _________________________________________________________ ?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> <Address>127.0.0.1</Address> <MaxClients>256</MaxClients> <Port>60500</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> </SimBase.Document> _________________________________________________________ I use this simconnect.cfg for FreeTrack : _________________________________________________________ [simConnect.0] Protocol=IPv4 Address=127.0.0.1 Port=60500 MaxReceiveSize=4096 DisableNagle=0 _________________________________________________________ Any idea or comment are welcome.   2. Original Posting by: styckx and copy/pasted from the main Prepar3D forum for posterity. You can follow and comment on this in the thread found here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/428473-resize-those-hd-textures-warning-pictures-in-post/ Full disclosure - These screenshots are in FSX but I prepared this with using it as a suggestion for you v2 users who are seeming to suffer from OOM's more often than FSX due to the added overhead that comes w/ P3Dv2 features. A common topic lately is the obsession with HD textures. Lots of times 4096 textures are completely unnecessary for a lot of people. So I want to show you.. With some work what losing your "HD" actually results in image quality wise. Let's take the Carenado 182T as our example.. One of these is using resize 2048 textures, and the other default 4096.. The difference is very negligible.. And this is most zoom in an average simmer will actually use. Is the 4096 worth it? Answer for those who can't tell It isn't until you really zoom in on it do the real differences stand out... 4096 2048 Difference in file size... Now the difference in file size is where the real dramatic differences play out.. Textures with the "Copy" suffix are the originals. That's a reduction of nearly 75% in file size.. So, is what you're gaining in less overhead for the game to deal with worth the minor reduction in image quality? Now let's take this further.. I now attack the texture.common directory and resample all the 4096 textures down to 2048. These mainly consist of the interior 4096 interior 2048 interior And this time we reduced total file size of the folder by nearly 50%.. For one plane we just reduced the overhead FSX/P3D has to deal with by 60MB with minimal reduction of image quality. If you comb through your hanger (and even scenery) and trial error your way by trimming the fat on some of these planes it might be the difference between a successful flight, or an OMM.
  3. Shaders are compiled for a specific video card. Whenever you change video cards, the shaders must be compiled for the new card. You need to delete the files in this folder and allow P3Dv2 to compile new shader files the next time it is run: x:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Shaders
  4. Hi guys, I know there is a mammoth amount of discussion going on the latest version of P3D, it's pros and cons etc. and I am a bit late to join the party, but I have got a problem of my own and I want your suggestions... I have got a moderate machine with 3.0 GhZ Quad core (2 processors), Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 2GB DDR5 Graphics card. It was working fine with PMDG 737 and FS2Crew until I download REX essential + Overdrive. With REX my FSX frame rate took a hard hit but now with FTX England and Active Sky Next on top of it I can barely finish a full flight. System either crashes or everything blacks out. I am wondering if migrating to P3D will offer any improvement keeping in mind that I want to use a migration software to use my fsx add ons. I can compromise FTX but I really want to use Active sky's weather engine and REX's texture. So should I transfer to P3D or do I need to upgrade my machine? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Ronnie
  5. G'day all, I have found someone who will teach me to PROPERLY fly the A2A Cessna C-127 Trainer. Has any one tried the shared aircraft mode please and what do I/we need to know to set it up? We both have P3D and the C-127 installed on good rigs. I have watched the LM video but that seems to indicate formation flying, not shared cockpit. Thanks, Mac
  6. Hi all, I've been trying to get the PA A319 working in P3D but am having some issues with the AP and AT. I need to investigate a little further but the issues seem to be as follows: Standard P3D flight planner not loading plan into the GPS. Autothrottle doing something but not operating correctly - it seems to throttle back but not back up again. Any ideas? I'm thinking it may be to do with something referencing the default FSX A321 (which is in P3D but unflyable as 'Commercial Airliner' right?) but am unsure how to fix. The A319 came from a large multi-livery download from SimViation.
  7. Would the wise men please take a moment or two to advise me what my next upgrade should include. I use the machine exclusively for Prepar3D. After twelve months and about 3,000 mostly P3D hours and the bugs are starting to appear such as taking longer to load scenery, occasional black patches and slower response times from the cockpit. No stutters or stammers and the only scenery that brings my current computer to its knees is ORBX at YBBN. I have most settings on maximum. I have not overclocked because I do not know how to. Cost is not a consideration. Also posted at P3D Forum. Many thanks. 8. Hello everyone! Just so everyone knows, I am aware that if im using all those addons ill be getting bad fps but not as bad as i thought. So i just got accepted into Qantas Virtual so ill be doing my flying in Australia, and who better for scenery than ORBX?! So I load up P3D, select YBBN (Brisbane, with all patches and I have taken out all the major FPS killers in the control panel except for PeopleFlow.) and I load up my 737. My FPS during the day time is only at 20 at the gate with the plane systems on! Now ill give you a series of tweaks that i did to my CFG file and system specs, also, should I turn the the resolution on the 737? Will it look really bad? Used Bojotes tweak tool for fsx, For the bufferpools i replaced their number with 0, and i also added the Fiber frame fraction tweak and set it at 0.33. Other than that I set the ORBX effects to Day mode. System specs: Intel core i5 2500K 4.5ghz AMD Radeon 6870 1GB 8GB RAM 750 Watts PSU ASROCK P67 MOBO FSX is on a 1TB hard drive And numerous addons. Is there maybe something i missed or can do to improve my frames when flying in australia? Because in Europe I get great frames, i dont check the number but get between 25 (lowest) to 40 with the pmdg. Thanks!
  10. Hello everybody, I m a new AVSIM member. I was reading a lot of your posts in the past, now I decided finally to be part of it. Going straight to the point I found a way to avoid installing EZDOK to use TrackIR under P3D. Maybe I'm coming a little bit late but if there are simmers out there needing this I can post a small instruction. Don't hit me if there is already something in this forum (I am very bad in search engines, especially forums one!).
  11. With the continuing advancement of P3D by Lockheed Martin, more flight simulation enthusiasts are experimenting with, if not adopting entirely, this flight simulator. However, there is considerable confusion over which third party products currently available can be used, without violating your EULA or other restrictions, within P3D. Questions such as: Does my existing End User License Agreement (EULA) allow me to use my add-on in P3D? If not, do I need to purchase another license to install it in P3D? Assuming my EULA allows me to, will my current product work in P3D? And there are many more. We recently have had some incidents within the forums that arose from lack of knowledge concerning products, EULA's and use within the P3D simulator. As a result, we have undertaken a survey of commercial providers about their EULA's and products for P3D. You can find the beginnnings of this here: http://forum.avsim.net/page/AVSIM%20Pages/p3d_.html
  12. Hello everyone, Brace yourself, and please do grab a cup of coffee as this will be very long post. I just hope that my writing doesn't make you lose interest in this real, unique story/life changing event. And, yes, this event does incorporate FSX/P3D, Avsim Forums, Real Flight, Trading (stock markets), and Love of the Skies - (I bet you are already thinking what the $%@! is this guy talking about?) My true goal is make you the reader - experience this amazing day from the perspectives of being in my shoes. Reader beware - I just had few cups of coffee Before I go further - I will give a very brief info about me as it is actually crucial to the event. I am a portfolio manager/trader, an author of a book, and huge dreamer of having few personal airplanes one day. I always wanted to fly, but like the majority of people I ended up putting it in the back burner and started to focus on life's other things. I have been on and off flight siming since childhood. Yes, I remember Microsoft 1st flight sim release, it was cool - but I loved Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer - This was the simulator for me - I could do 3D outside view etc. All I had was a lowly CGA IBM XT with 32MB HDD and I played hours and hours. But then came high school, parties, girls, college, girls, work and more partying (I studied too - that came first, or my parents would have kicked my butt). Let’s just fast forward to the past few months - I use triple screen monitor for trading/studying/research - and I said, I have some time why not try Flight Simming again - hence FSX/P3D and it took me beyond all the flight sims I have played when I was a kid. The technology is amazing (except for outdated FSX code), so much evolution has happened in flight sim world (FS2004 was cool) over the years. What can I say about flight sim tools/addons? - Wow!!! for realism and training (heck, the educational component saved my life...that part is coming....) Part 1 - AVSIM Community Even though my profile on here shows that I joined in Dec 2012, but in reality I have been using this site for a few months, just never posted anything - so I just browsed and found answers. During the searching phase, I ended up learning about ORBX's PNW, Carenado Planes, FSDT Airports etc. and tons of tweaks to optimize FSX like good ole Buffer Pools, LOD size, TBM, etc. - yes, one should write a book and publish it on O'Reilly called "Art of FSX Configuration". If this isn't art then I don’t know what is. Everyone's FSX.cfg is different. I have to personally thank the AVSIM for teaching me about ILS, and lot of the posts in the AVSIM Flight School - this is where I learned about free Angle of Attack Aviator 90 videos (Thank You Chris Palmer for Episode 11). The video about landing pattern is most critical for me at this moment (I will explain in a bit why it is....please bear with me). Part 2 - Hangar I have always wanted to meet people who have airplanes, but I knew no one till last week in my circles. None of my friends have ever been on a general aviation aircraft or business jets. All I knew was YouTube videos, discovery channel, and big passenger aircraft. I have always had a dream about flying, but never thought of it. And then everything changed last week - I met a retired Navy Captain (name will stay anonymous as he is quite a celebrity in EAA world etc. - I will call him Captain Awesome for this post). I just emailed him about to meet for coffee and discuss aviation. He responded back and says skip the coffee - and "let’s fly for lunch". Here, I was just floored - I have never flown just for lunch. I honestly did not know how to react. It is one thing to have Bill Gates mention my book "A Rogue's Guide to Acquisition: Principles from the Final Frontier" on his personal blog, but flying for lunch!!!! This was in league of its own. Granted both the events are special, but this is my first $100 burger....and now I will have to print and frame that email. It may seem trivial for lot of your aviators on here, but for a person who only dreamed about it - this is just mind blowing. I am still speechless about this offer. So last Sunday, I happily (still nervous inside) drove to Captain Awesome's home - and he says you ready for lunch? I am like "looking forward to it". And off we drive to this small regional airport to his hangar. While on our drive to Captain Awesome's hangar, he was filling me in details of some of his amazing adventures in the Navy. I will tell you this - to me his adventures are definitely legendary. I am so proud of the amazing men and women who serve our country (God Bless). His life story needs to be made into a movie (though ironically one Hollywood movie already has some of his adventures in it). He is very committed to Aviation - even after his retirement from the Navy, he actively teaches and improves systems. As I said, he is quite a celebrity in EAA circles. The whole time I felt like I am hanging out with an Astronaut. It is surreal experience. Back on Earth - As we reached the regional airport, and I am looking around - my jaw drops - I see Cessna 172s, 182s, Malibu Piper and Mooneys!!! - These are the airplanes I have been flying in FSX/P3D - especially the Carenado Mooney M20J with ORBX VC and Exterior Upgrades. I love the Mooney - the airplane is work of art in FSX. I have never seen these aircrafts up close in real life. We arrive at his hangar; I help Captain Awesome open his hangar doors and my eyes fixate on his amazing Mooney. Damn, that aircraft is a dream. I am again speechless; I can't help myself from being speechless over and over. Since, Captain Awesome is certified by the FAA to inspect/modify/build planes, one can only imagine how well he takes care of his Mooney. Enjoy those Mooney Pics - by the way I have blurred out all the Plane Numbers to respect Captain Awesome's privacy. Part 3 - Flying & Trading I was super nervous to sit in the Mooney, yet at the same time I was super excited to see the cockpit. I love the mixture of Steam Gauges and Glass. Thanks to AVSIM forums & Angle of Attack, I knew what the Basic 6 instruments were and Garmin GNS 530. Captain Awesome starts does his pre-flight checklist before engines are on. I can't recall how many checklists he did, but it is so cool watching them in action. He is by the book - zero exceptions (even with over 25 years of flying, safety is paramount). As Captain Awesome is starting his engines, I say this inside my head "Ctrl+E...for engines, and laughed, as there is no such thing in real flight", and I believe there is a YouTube cartoon video about this same topic. Before we line up to the runway, I see him perform a pre- pre-take off checklist (I may be off in terminology here) and then it hits me like a ton of bricks. This is exactly like buying stocks - any hedge fund/portfolio guys/gals in here - please contact me!!!! Before I make a trade - I too have a checklist of criteria which has to be satisfied before buying. Once a position is bought - there is a checklist for that, and selling has its own checklist (regardless of loss or profit). Ego kills the trade, and I can tell that over-confidence in trading and flying with ego can be super dangerous. Unbelievable parallel relationship!!!!!!! Now comes the Runway, he is performing a checklist, and then I hear the throttles kick in, and few seconds later I hear Rotate!!! And the plane is airborne. I am feeling like a freaking Astronaut, I have never experienced flight from front of a cockpit, and this a General Aviation Aircraft - All I can see OMG, $%$^^$^!#@$ amazing in my head, and the view is so damn beautiful....The sky is blue with few fluffly clouds, below I see beautiful farms, and little away in the horizon I see the Potomac river - just picture perfect. For a brief moment, I just realized time stood still and this amazing moment is imprinted in my heart, mind and my soul. I will never be able to forget it. Humor never leaves me - it comes happily and I say "I think I am inside Flight sim world, this reminds me of Orbx's PNW scenery, how amazing". Yes, real life has no substitute, but you have to give credit to Orbx team for giving us amazing quality scenery for flight simming. With my jaw down the entire way, we are cruising at 2500 feet!!! And I am absorbing every inch of detail that my brain can process. I do have few small videos. I felt holding the camera was taking me away from the moment. I am nervous, happy, excited, and top of the world!!! Our destination is 45 min away at a small un-towered airport.... Part 4 - $100 Burger & AVSIM / Angle of Attack /Flight Sim Training potentially saves my Life!!!!!!!!!! Destination is getting close, I hear Captain Awesome doing his pre-landing checklist (I don't know the exact name for it yet), and he is stating his position on radio so that other airplanes can hear him. I hear other airplanes too - few ahead of us and few behind. There were total of 3 other airplanes besides us in the sky approaching this airport I knew I had to be quiet at this time, and pay attention - I can hear all the pilots in the area stating their standard traffic pattern location - Crosswind, Downwind, Base and Final. When we were are in downwind position, we also heard third Pilot landing ahead of us, who stated their location as they were approaching the airport but forgot to say in which pattern they were!!!!!! - This WAS the Mistake. Captain Awesome picked it up immediately (Thank God) - he kinda said they didn't state their position. My head is screaming oh F$%$, oh S#%#... but somehow flying circuit pattern that I have read on the forums and in Angle of Attack's Amazing Video and I have practiced proper landing pattern (or whatever I figured out in simulation) - I was able to visualize and I knew that 2 other planes were behind us, and so this third plane had to be somewhere close. Captain Awesome was calm, but super alert - he already had a very good idea on where exactly they were, but one needs confirmation - and we are now few seconds away from approaching left turn to BASE - and I see the airplane coming directly into Base. They never went downwind or called it on the radio - we could have been on intercept vector (I don't know if that is the correct terminology, it is something I picked from sci-fi tv/books) and be in potential collision. All of a sudden, I hear a different voice on the radio which stated that they are on Base - Captain Awesome figured that the original pilot was in training or less experienced than the other pilot (We saw them at lunch) Captain Awesome immediately says on radio we are making swerve (something like that, my eyes were fixated on that aircraft only), and then we get behind them on base and to final and then land. Please see Pic (I am in the Blue Plane) - Now all of this is from my interpretation. Captain Awesome did not really talk about this - he was keeping cool head, and following standard protocol. Once we landed, he did joke and say "Lets Park right next to them". The knowledge that I received on what a standard landing pattern is, and was CRITICAL for me to visualize and be able to look in the right direction to spot the aircraft approaching us. I knew what downwind, base, upwind, and final meant. Pilot errors like these can cause pilots and their passengers to show up on NTSB reports. I do not want to see any one of you in those reports - they are disturbing and depressing. FAA nailed it as they even require pilots to be in sterile cockpit environment during pre-flight, take-off, pre-landing, and landing phases of the flight. It is only during cruise flight where one chat and enjoy a bit (to some degree). Conclusion: Final Thoughts Amazing experience even if it was my first general aviation flight. I cannot wait to go to flight school and hopefully in few years I would save up enough cash to buy an airplane. First thing first, I now have to work harder (and smarter) than before in my trading, educate myself more, and increase sales of my book (and subsequent follow-up books) all to be able to touch the skies again in style. In my wildest imagination, I never thought a simple adventure would turn out to be so powerful. The flight sim community taught me whatever information I could absorb in a short time frame and oddly it just happened to saved my life. I am eternally gratefull to this community for aviators and flight simmers. Appeal for Help for Tony I was waiting to post this amazing adventure event post on Friday 18th and then I read up on huge awesome fundraiser event for Tony hosted by PC Pilot, PMDG, ORBX, Addictive Simulations, Buffalo Virtual Airways, United Virtual, Aerosoft, Just Flight and I realized that this fundraiser takes importance over my story. While I had fun flying in GA aircraft, someone is requesting our help and I knew that I had to help out in whatever way I can. I enjoyed conversing with Froogle and others in the Fundraiser Livestream (the banter between Froogle and Jane was hilarious). I was quite excited to see when the goal of 14K was reached by everyone's contribution. I do not know anyone here on these forums personally (including Tony), but it was an amazing experience to see everyone around the world (including companies) contributing to someone who is requesting help. If you enjoyed my adventure post, I would really appreciate if you all could help Tony reach his goal of 25K. At the moment of writing this post, I to do see that there are over 1000 members logged in, and if everyone of you donate $10 - he will reach his goal as he only has few days left. It would mean the world to me if you would help Tony Here is the link to his request http://www.indiegogo.com/p/119134 You all have an awesome day and Thank You for Reading this massive post Skywolf
  13. Excuse me while I say this, People are going insane over Prepar3d like it has been the greatest gift to flight sim, which is fine everyone has a right to be excited. However I have been following the forums closely for the past couple of days to see what people are saying and there is one thing I need clarification on. Simmers have been trying to find a way to get past the OOM's, Stutters, low FPS, and the horrible night flying in FSX forever, and to me it seems like they have missed what has always been right infront of their faces. I fly both FSX and Xplane and also have Prepar3d and people refuse to see the potential (much more potential if you ask me) Xplane offers for reasons I simply just don't understand. It seems to me X-Plane has never recieved the open arms this verson of Prepar3d has, and if people were half as excited about the future of x-plane as they are about Prepar3d we would be lightyears ahead of where we currently are. I love FSX don't get me wrong, but we need to realize that X-plane is a simulation that with a little more backing would surpass all of its competitors. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
  14. Here is the discussion topic for the interview with Lockheed Martin.

  16. Just thought I'd post a few pics. Nothing special in terms of a set but just to show performance in familiar locations. So far, I'm finding P3D2 so much better than FSX in terms of performance. Visually there isn't much in it but I think there will be even more performance to come once we find the right settings and cfg tweaks. These are completely unedited, just resized. Hopefully you can make out CPU/GPU. 1440p, tesselation high, FXAA off, HDR enabled, shadows low, MSAA 8, Ansio 8X, triple buffering enabled, frame rate unlimited, v-sync on. City flying 20-30fps (Aerosoft NYC, San Francisco), complex airports 20-25fps, UTX+FTX Global 45-60fps!
  17. Hey, guys. I've been a FS9 simmer for a while and I just moved to P3D. The only PMDG products I own are the 1900C and D, so I admittedly don't have any first hand knowledge or experience with the newer, more advanced PMDG products. The question I posed in my subject has been, I am sure, hotly debated, and I assure you I do not come here with any agenda or any intention of flaming anyone. I am just curious why PMDG has decided not to support use of its aircraft in P3D? I ask that because PMDG is recognized as one of the leading developers of commercial aircraft add-ons. Many of PMDG's competitors, like iFly, Quality Wings, Aerosoft, LevelD, and FSLabs do allow the use of their products in P3D. So, I don't understand what legally, economically, whatever it is, makes PMDG reluctant to enter the P3D marketplace. I really hope this is something you are discussing seriously within your company. As a P3D user, and as an admirer of what PMDG has accomplished in both FS9 and FSX, I hope you change your policy soon. Todd Harrell
  18. With Prepar3D V2 coming out, i imagine a large number of FSX users will switch. What will you do? Personally, I will go from X-Plane to P3D V2 just for the addons and increased performance (Using Airbus X at an ORBX airport while using REX and various addons and getting an acceptable FPS is my dream! ). However, PMDG currently doesn't support P3D, so will that effect your decision? Will you stay with FSX? Or go to X-Plane since PMDG announced a project for it?
  19. You can find the beginnnings of this here: http://forum.avsim.n...Pages/p3d_.html
  20. A very hot weekend here in "SoCal" so we decided to cool off by flying out to Catalina Island for lunch. Catalina is known for having wild Bison out on the island. Didn't see any as we landed. Must be too hot... hiding in the shades. Good grub, though. Clutch (Prepar3D with new Aerosoft US Cities X - Los Angeles)

  22. I have noticed that it is possible to tune some GPU's by selecting from a very long list of computer "games" when installing. So far I have not noticed that Prepar3D has received a mention. Can anyone tell me if P3D is on the "games" list for the GTX780? After all we know that the GPU is going to be the critical element in getting the best out of P3D. If there is not yet a mention for P3D, which "game" on the list would best align settings with Prepar3D Ver 2.0? Cheer, Mac EDIT: Before you get the flame throwers out, I am NOT asking for confidential info about Ver 2.0 simply a hardware setup question.
  23. I have just installed Ver 3.34.0 into P3D. Now whenever the update runs it gets to "MET Dynamic Weather Created" then "SIM Event: Sim Stopped" and P3D displays popup saying "The weather theme could not be loaded. Please check that the file exists and try again." The error is repetitive and consistent with all attempts to "update Weather". Help please. Mac
  24. I've recently done a re-install of Windows 7 and P3D, everything works well. I installed my BAE 146 from Just Flight, selected the P3D option from the install menu, and when I loaded the plane it was incredibly slow and stuttering, to the point where it's just not possible to fly, also the icon menu that's usually on the bottom left of the screen is missing. All other planes work perfectly fine as before. I e-mailed Just Flight support and two days later got the following reply: "Unfortunately this product is not compatible with P3D, it is only compatible with FSX." I must say I'm quite dissapointed as I got this addon specifically because it was advertised as being compatible with P3D, has any one else experienced this?
  25. If you are thinking of adding a really great chopper to your P3D sim it would be very hard to go past the payware Virtavia Seaking. Virtavia do not certify for P3D but it flies very well and is at least as good an aircraft as the UKMIL Chinook. Cheers, Mac
