  1. Hi all, I have an issue where after a computer restart, my Saitek Radio Panel works as expected when running SPAD. However, if I quit FSX (or P3D for that matter), the display won't work again until a computer restart. That said, it's still being read, as it still changes radio frequencies (at least in the SPAD utility.) Anyone know how to fix? Thanks
  2. Hello all. Finished my sim pit, but having a funny problem. Not setting up SPAD at all the flaps switch would move flaps on A2A 172 between 10 and 20 degrees only, not 0 or 30. When setting it for key presses it works perfectly, but only for one flight. Any reset or change or turning off computer or changing weather or anything and it doesn't not work. I have "unset" other things that could effect it, like multiple buttons controlling the same action and have tried to make sure FSUIPC and FSX were not clashing. Also checked to make sure I was on the right SPAD profile and that it was still set up the same. What is going on? Do I need to uninstall and then reinstall something? I updated A2A 172.
  3. Hello all. I just finished my sim pit and am working now at setting it up and fixing all the small issues, but one has me puzzled. I have a Saitek multi panel with the flap switch connected to a powered usb hub and am setting up the A2A 172. Just using SPAD and not FSUIPC, which I do have the registered version, it worked the first time I tried, but would only go from 10-20 degrees, and once in maybe 10-15 tries to 30, but never to zero. I saw that FSUIPC seemed to have a way to set up flaps under Joystick Controls, but it seemed confusing so I avoided it. I tried to set up through FSUIPC Axis and Keystrokes, but it wouldn't recognize the flap switch. I got into SPAD and set the switch to keypress mode, or whatever, and assigned the standard F6 and F7 keys. I also went into FSX and deleted any other buttons that were set to these keys. It worked perfectly! 0-30 degrees any time I wanted. I reloaded the aircraft so I could show my father that it was working. I went to use flaps and nothing happened at all. I went back through, checked my settings, reset my settings and fiddled a ton. I cannot for the life of me get it to respond. Anyone know what the heck could be going on? I will keep fiddling for now. One more thing. I have the Saitek radio, multi panel and switch panel all on a powered usb hub. SPAD recognizes the radio and multi panel every time and allows me to make my adjustments, while SPAD doesn't say anything about a switch panel being connected in the upper left corner. Should it be showing up? Shouldn't it show up so I can make adjustment through SPAD. When I got it a few weeks ago I tested it to make sure it wasn't damaged and the starter knob and more than half the switches worked without changing or setting up anything. Should I try a different usb port? I have no Saitek drivers and I jiggled and unplugged and replugged usb's but it didn't do anything. Any help is great. Thank you.
  4. I have only found Linda in the last few days and have a small query which I think is an easy answer but for the life of me I cannot figure out. I have the Saitek Yoke (and Throttle), Rudder, Multi Panel and Switch Panel and I'm using FSX Acceleration, FSUIPC 4.937 and SPAD 0.5.0. I have the PMDG 747 so thought I would simply have to download the module developed by Pero and voila! I would be able to assign actions to buttons to my hearts content. Unfortunately, whilst the PMDG 747 is listed there are no options to choose from. I get the choice of Edit Modules and System Functions but under System Functions only "InitVars" is displayed where I was expecting to see a whole list of Functions. None of the documentation I have read seems to say that I needed to do anything else to get this to work (or maybe I am doing a "man read" much like my partner accuses me of doing "man looks" when trying to find something) Can someone please tell me what I have done wrong? PS. I installed Linda (2.5.5) to the root of the FSX Modules folder i.e. the path to Linda is C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Modules\Linda.exe Cheers Harry
  5. Hi and greetings, new to the forum. A friend recently got the full gamut of controls, including a Saitek elevator trim wheel. Everything works great except we are having problems with the trim wheel. I think the problems are caused by the control acceleration. The trim wheel movements should correlate with the simulated trim wheel movements, but they don't. Slow movements do almost nothing and fast movements result in extreme changes, normally all the way to one stop or the other. Googling and reading I've heard that there is an FSUIPC button to disable control acceleration. I don't have anything against that, but I don't think we should need to buy additional software to get Saitek controls to work probably with FSX. I saw some recommendations for SPAD, does anyone know if that will fix our problem? Also, if there is some other way to disable that acceleration, what sensitivity setting would give us 1=1 input ? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, I am new to the forum and just getting back into FSX and its capabilities. I just recently built a new pc to handle FSX and I also purchased the following, PMDG 737ngx, Saitek Pro Flight yoke w/throttle quadrant and I have the Saitek Switch Panel. I have noticed that the a lot of the buttons on the switch panel and throttle quandrant don't seem to work with my PMDG. Through some searching online I found people recommending that you get SPAD. My first question is does SPAD need FSUIPC to work? I would like to figure this out on my old pc before I begin installing stuff on my new pc. I would appreciate any help that you can provide. Thanks, Pete
  7. hi does any one know how to use spad to program saitek multi panel for the PMDG 737-800/900 help is much appreciated or videos which show how to program spad.
  8. Hello. I just received the Saitek radio panel and in my hurry to see if it worked I forgot all about SPAD. I had read that some people just plugged it in and it worked without using the disk or any other drivers other than what might have install when plugging in the USB. I tried this and it didn't work so I used the provided disk. The radio worked great with all of my planes except the Flight1 King Air and the Majestic Dash 8. This makes sense considering that the other planes radios/gps run off of the FSX ones. And if I remember correctly it wouldn't tune the A2A ADF, but worked fine for everything else. I realize that I may not be able to use it with the Majestic because quite honestly I'm not even sure exactly how the communication/navigation work with such an advanced, complex aircraft. I did notice a com 1 little window in the center console and I did find a screen further back on the center console that looked like it was where you would set frequencies, but that type of aircraft is out of my league considering my current aviation knowledge. Will it just simply not work with this aircraft? The King Air is a little different. For about every 15 "clicks" of the knob the frequency might change once. And I know it won't swap frequencies at all. With this planes G1000 it should be able to do this in my mind. Is there any chance that if I delete the Saitek drivers and use SPAD drivers that these issues would clear up? Thank you for any help.
  9. Hi All, I am a longtime forum-lurker, newbie member and first-time poster! I have already built a fully-loaded custom made aluminium Main Instrumet Panel (MIP) targetting GA (single, twin etc.) comprising the following Saitek modules: - Cessna Yoke, Rudder pedals and Trim Wheel - 2x Radio Panels - 2x Backlit Information Panels (BIP's) - 2x Throttle quadrants - 1x Throttle, Prop, Mixture panel (TPM with switches) - 11x Flight Intrument Panels (LCD FIP's) - 1x Switch Panel - 1x Multi-Panel - 1x iPad on flexi-mount My plan was always to focus on GA / low and slow (I hope to start on my PPL/CPL soon), hence this 'equipment' - with an occasional 'play' at the heavy jets. Maybe with a side joystick. Having relocated to Australia and spent the last year on a road-trip (immediately following completion of the MIP - which I have never used!), my MIP has been (and remains) in storage for the foreseeable future. So I got to thinking.... What if I were to extend what I already have to provide better support for jets? After lot's of research, I am now fired up to do this! My plan was to enclose the MIP in one of Sim Samurai's enclosures (the CS-1 Stallion, for which I already bought the blueprint). I reckon I could squeeze some jet bits in, so am looking for some guidance before committing $$$ to my purchases. On the Boeing vs Airbus debate: I will probably go Boeing primarily (though maybe with room for a PIC joystick for Airbus - just in case!). I like GoFlight stuff but am swinging towards VRInsight for their: CDU III panel (CDU II + LCD), 737 Overhead panel - and, if I need it, MCP Combo II (EFIS/MCP/COM). Oh and their GPS 5 panel, 'cos I can. Which leads to the million $$$ question: if I sacrifice the "realism/immersion", how much of the jet workload can be mapped to the GA-biased MIP? Obviously, early 737's would map better, with more 'steam' guages, though 11x Saitek FIP's should help either way? For me, getting the CDU III is a no brainer, especially with it's LCD. I 'think' the GPS 5 would also be useful - even if only to extend the GA capability. And I guess, the overhead panel could also be a no-brainer (I know it tends to only get used at the beginning/end of a flight, but it is an 'easy' add-on, just stick it above my head!). More matched to iFly than PMDG I understand (in terms of functionality that will work) - shame! Where I 'do not get it' yet, is how much practical overlap I have with existing instruments and the MCP combo? I see some COM and autopilot potential overlap, but lack the experience with both GA and commercial to make a sensible decision on whether I can get away without the MCP Combo - or whether this will prevent a sensible, more realistic workload. Any thoughts from others who fly both types please? Thanks!
