I'm sad that there is no fs2004 models. I have bought every pmdg plane they have developed so far. They are the best, but fsx just doesn't work very well on my computer, plus iI have lots of money invested in addons for fs2004. Maybe they will change their minds and help us fs9 users out there. I also just bought a new computer and fsx just doesn't run unless I have all slides to the left. I'll stick with fs9.thanks

100 fps, 30 fps. The human eye doesnt care when it comes to slow games, like flight sims. - Philip
I can certainly tell the difference between 100 and 30 fps in a flight sim and would take 100 fps any day. -Alex

As you should be able to. The human eye performs in the 60-80 hz range (a direct comparison isn't quite appropriate, hence the range). So if you told me you could tell the difference between 70 and 100 fps, I'd be skeptical. However, you absolutely should be able to tell the difference between 30 and 100. It seems to me that since TV is (or used to be at least) broadcast around 25 fps, that people think this is all your eye can do. Of course, there is also something to be said for consistency of fps over high numbers. I'd take 30 fps that is solid and consistent even at fractions of a second over 100 fps that was actually varying from say 20 fps to 200 fps over fractions of a second.

All this "100 fps" stuff would be a moot point IF FS was able to deliver frame rates with synchronous predictability (like in the cinema). IF FS was able to do it say with 25 FPS then no one here would be complaining about stutter or insufficient fluidity. The fps you read on the screen is in fact a lie - it is an averaged-out fps over some period and again this period is long enough so you could even read this number. What really counts is not the averaged fps but the minimum fps. The fps can drop precipitously during a very short time period and even though it was very high all the time - such spike would immediately be perceived as a stutter even though your FS counter would show you your frame rate was incredibly good.

You know what would be awesome. A feature with the J41 that allows owners to make there on Nav Data. For instance, lets say I want to fly to an airfield in Northern Canada, thats say on has a GPS approach for it, if I am using Navigraph AIRACs chances are that the approach will never be in there, and therefore I can't fly it. Navigraph AIRAC work awesome for the MD-11/744 and the bigger aircraft because almost every "major" airfield in the world has Nav Data for it, but not the smaller fields. So with that being said, I'd like to SID/STAR/APP editing utilites for the new J41, can't wait for this release.Collins, J

Navigraph global data includes a lot of small airports... it's not the size that matters but the approach has to be "published." I'd wager that your small Canadian strip with GPS approach is there....what's the ICAO? Regardless, anyone can create/edit sidstar files now. There is a good tutorial at planepath.com.

Hey guys,Quickly looking back through these JS41 threads, I couldn't find a specific mention to the following quesiton.I understand it won't have a 2D cockpit, but what about 2D gauges that pop-up when clicked on in the VC? I very much like how the FMC in the MD-11 and the Level-D pop-up to a 2D version that allow expedicious data entery, that moves with my TrackIR5 view-point.Will a 2D FMC pop-up be available in the JS41 VC?

What!... No 2D panels at all !? A bad decision by PMDG. This kills the advantage of a multi-monitor setup (use of multiple 3d views is not a good idea, FPS suffers too much).

Thats right. I was among those who moaned about this, but I believe PMDG will unfortunately stick to their "VC only" decision. However, as I understood they are still going to make 2D panels for their jet airliner series, like the NG 2.0, which is a good thing.

Yes being a multi-monitor user this no 2d decision just about kills this project for me - pity because I am a keen turboprop fan!Bruceb
