Well people interpret things in different ways, so many of the above statements are pure opinion. I think most have been civil throughout the many delays in development of the NGX , most understand the issues in the process. This forum consists of users from all over the world with varying cultures and ages, so there is no right or wrong way for users of this forum to interpret the information they are given about a proposed product and they can and should express freely if they wish.
I'll agree with that Simon. :(

Hi,WoW, its amazing to me how many wanna-be tubeliner jockeys come here day-in and day-out and do nothing but whine about release dates, updates, wide beta announcements and the list just goes on-and-on. Is it that your just unable to grasp the concept of it will be released when its ready or are you just so impatient that you need to type the same thing over-and-over again on a nearly daily basis.Maybe PMDG should put out one final announcement that states: "NO MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS, PHOTOS, VIDEOS OR ANY OTHER PMDG 737NGX INFORMATION UNTIL THE PRODUCT IS FINISHED AND READY FOR RELEASE...END OF STORY" and make it a sticky post.It would be interesting to see the age of the whiners here at AVSIM, if your past puberty, I feel sorry for you.Joe, I know you started the post topic but I want you to know this is not necessarily directed at you. Its directed at the same individuals that come here on a nearly constant basis and whine. The only thing I find to be more annoying are the wanna-be forum police that sit in the shadows and wait to pounce on someone and yet they really don't contribute to the overall flightsim community.
I'm with ya on this one Mike.

Flightsimulator is not a simulation, it's a way of life ...

I would believe that an appropriate price could be around $ 20- 30 for a single plane, above all considering that fans have been waiting since more than a year and they will be still waiting for several months to come with no clue on the release period. Only a deep and blind faith will move them and an high price is not fair due to these above mentioned reasons.
I don't think you understand the economics at play here. Flight sim addons, especially high-end ones like this are an extremely niche product. There are something like 10 people who have worked on this project essentially non-stop for nearly three years now. At the prices you're talking about, we'd all have made just a few thousand dollars each for 3 years of work - that is not sustainable. Go read about "economies of scale" - that's what's at play here. If we were selling a boatload of copies the way that say a Call of Duty game or something like that sells, then yeah we could talk about lower prices like this, but it just doesn't work in the FS addon market for the amount of time it takes to produce this stuff.

I think for the T7, PMDG shouldn't make a single announcement. They should also delete every topic involving the words "When", "Why", "You promised" and "Release".

A few things I have learned being a PMDG customer1) they are always going to hype their products up early, getting the community all abuzz2 )their subtle guesstimation are always going to be way off3) the forum's are going to be full of members spewing diatribes, starting usless threads that everyone seems to get involved inbiggrin.gif4) their products are the best and I have been blown away with each release5) lather, rinse and repeat, it starts all over again with the next releaseI really don't think anything that goes on in these forums really bother the development group, if it did they would have gone the silent route along time ago.

I think you are right Mike. I believe RSR already made a comment about how they will handle future projects and what they say publicly in future releases. I suspect they will go the way of the Level-D 757 absolute silence with virtually no communication. I believe that Level-D has only released one screen shot of their panel. I guess collectivity as a community we ended up digging our own grave.

I've always felt that PMDG aircraft were fairly priced for the quality you get. I don't expect the NGX to be any different. You always have the option of voting with your wallet!

What you forget is that everyone will begin to say things like "they must have found some horrible problem," "its never going to come out," "its cancelled," etc etc if they do not say anything at all. As much as it can be annoying that people get all worked up, it is a good thing. Hype helps sell, its that simple. Also, the people who complain about the complainers complain just as much if not more than those complain about the lack of release/beta. Public forums are never going to be a completely civil place. Also, if there were no announcements, these forums would get quite dull. Other than talking about people complaining, what would anyone be talking about? Would you really want to sacrifice all of the fun of looking at the previews because a few people cant wait for it to be released?I think that saying that the wide-beta was probably coming on a certain day was a bad decision, but the previews were a good thing.

Perfect idea mate! 20 Bucks per plane is very reasonable. You get your 600, your 700, your 800, and your 900, all for a very reasonable $80 Big%20Grin.gif.

Tabs, you should have read my post also between lines....I know the high quality of PMDG products and I also know the price that usually comes with them. So why I mentioned that I would find fair a price between $ 20-30 ? The answer is in the last lines of my posts, I mean, the lack of customer relationship with potential customers. Post-sell PMDG support works really fine and that is known among each one of us but a potential customer relationship is totally different from my point of view. And that is what differentiates a niche company from a wide famous one. Every game release , beside pathetic MS Flight..........., is well known in the details since months in advance, so what's the reason behind this mistery and lotal lack of info ? I wish PMDG to move from a niche segment to a broader one, but this move must pass through different marketing dept decisions, that's for sure.Do you perhaps fear that if it will be released on winter 2011-12 no one will hit this forum until Xmas and the 737 NGX appeal will cease resulting in much less copies sold ? Typing on a site " coming soon " for over a year that's a typical niche company strategy .....I would hope and suggest to try to become a bigger company instead.....We have received some infos from you Tabs regarding VNAV e LNAV tweaks but that was only just a consequence of our pressing demanding of infos....Well ,once PMDG will be more precise and fair with potential customers I will maybe make up my mind about the final price, at the moment this is my humble opinion and I am sorry for the PMDG fan club members who like to wait for God to come.....and if this God will deign himself to communicate with its congregation, well that's not a behaviour of mine for sure....-
I do think they should draw a line in the sand when it comes to perfection. Would I be worried that the VNAV is descending 100ft quicker than it should or LNAV is 1/4 mile out when doing a procedure turn..NO because I'm a simmer not a commercial Pilot (though I do have a PPL). I would be more than pleased if its 99% right and wait for a service pack :( Its just all the false starts that we get that is getting my back up :( Also while I'm on yet another RANT and I make no apologies for it(before the a really excited user get started) why can't they release a full list(not Pics) of liveries, Specifications, pricing if the product is SO NEAR?, the competition has their 737 out for a while now. So no need to hide her anymore........ RANT OVER
Fully agree with you Joe. I exactly share the same views.. :(

too much, too soon....

Where would we be without PMDG? I don't think we can thank them enough, money aside. I think this will be the most influential and best Addon for our hobby yet. 737 is just that perfect plane that got me into Flight Sim. Perfect for those Short - Medium hauls. Who really has 5-10 hours to sit and watch the PROG page in the FMS on the long haul? It's the addon that has been desperately missing from FSX.I'm looking forward to jumping around cities in North America with Fs2crew and all the other toys.Nick Matveev
