September 15, 201114 yr Ron, with that low fps around night in Orbx regions, you may have missed the tip on the night lighting when using UTX.The Orbx lights aren't very fps consuming and the UTX ones aren't too, but if they are activated at the same time, this may impact your performance severely. There's a thread on how to disable the UTX lights for just the Orbx areas in the Orbx forums. Also make sure to have PNW patched to 004 since they've always enhanced the performance since 003. Find the patch on their support site.Maybe this helps since night flying there is fun and the days with Shade are also enhanced in my eyes. One just has to find the sweat spot (for him) when it comes to the current cloud colours and the VC darkening. After adjusting the profile a bit, I'm happy and also receive nice colours, not only around Orbx'.That sun light tinting may also add something to the scene. Remember, the best and the worst thing about Shade are the endless combinations of colours, so it's recommended to start with some preset and then e. g. tune the shadow depth if VCs appear too dark. This may take a minute or more, and some FSX restarts, but you'll get a nice new touch for that old FSX.

September 16, 201114 yr Bought it!One problem... too dark VC (I flew around 5PM with Carenado F33A Bonanza). Except that, the ground and everything.... spectacular, for my taste! So, back to VC.. on the blog I read the post "Overly dark VC's durning morn/noon/afternoon "... I'm also using REX and somewhere else I read that setting stuff for different days in the cycle doesn't work with some 3rd party addons like REX.. so, is this method valid for REX users also? September 17, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hey Guys Just to let you know that 1.01 has gone off to FFS this might take a while to pop though as were in diff timezones me being in the UK them AU It a full replacement package (a whopping 3.5 mb!)as i also hate tracking down patches for stuffChange log for 1.01 is as follows Set & forget:feature added so now you can burn in your values an not have to use shade/shade_nl.exe to see them insim (more info on this is in the updated manual)Extract To Preset:Allows you to pull the current lighting\shadow\fog values from FSX for each day and wack them into a preset for tweaking (more info on this is in the updated manual)A Button/Link to the Shade support forms at Ozx has been added to the "start stuff tab"Last loaded preset now sticks for each day between GUI reboots A set of new/tweaked presets (in a new for 1.01 presets folder) again you might need to tweak these to suit ;)Other tweaks to some of the GUI elements (alignment) & a button on day4 that wasnt updating its current Shade valueI have a few more features planned for and upcoming 1.02 release(a much better custom colour chooser being the first) but these might take a week or 2 to get in/out due to other Work commitments and having to ready the Ozx Goose HDRedux paintkit for release I'll try and pop in when i get chance and have a look at the dark clouds thingy,i think this is because some replacement addons are not sticking to the cloud layout as described in the SDK (I.E. putting puffy clouds where wispy clouds should be ect)or over darkening the base cloud textures,i need to do more checking but this might explain why some ppl see it and some dont For VC shadow tweaking try Morn/Noon/Afternoon shadow values of around 70-75-80 those should help give a good balance of VC darkening & terrain shadows(or just turn on your VC lighting ;) )Can i also just ask again if your going to fire me support mail that you add your order details to it first, mail without it will either be ignored or you will just get a mail back asking for your details Again thanks for your support here & i hope i can continue to tweak/add features that make Shade easier for you to setup & use I will have a Shade supporter banner comp coming up soon for Shade customers and im hopping to offer a Orbx region/airport as a prize (or 2) and maybe a video comp to win something like a Trackir or a Yoke or someother FSX related hardware,if you have any prize suggestions plz shoutCheerssteve http://shadeforfsx.blogspot.com/

September 17, 201114 yr In two minds about this, in a similar vein to others on here. I like the effects it has on the terrain, but the reduced contrast of having a darkened VC is not pleasant at all, and it darkens up the colour of white aircraft a bit too much for my tastes. Still playing around with it and it is worth having if you like to experiment, but if i can't find a good compromise setting that makes the VC a bit sharper, then it'll be off. Al Hi Al I do at least 95% of flying in daylight hours and, currently in the NGX. Shade really does darken the VC beyond what I feel is acceptable..However, during daylight hours, the easy answer for this is simply to fly with a dimmed dome light. Works a treat Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
September 17, 201114 yr Would that all my aeroplanes with blown canopies had such a dome light with which to try that. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
