March 28, 201214 yr Oops, do you mean that you are not interested to the fabulous IL-2 (obviously without cockpit) they are preparing for flying over Alaska? A.Nooooo, don't think that will do it for me. Ken
March 28, 201214 yr Sorry to cross-sell, but Xplane has a just released, very good Zero addon. It does have a very detailed cockpit.http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=355 Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
March 28, 201214 yr How disappointing, I have no interest in aircraft without cockpits, but I'm sure Josh Howard will soon say expecting a cockpit view is yet another unreasonable hardcore simmer expectation and that his other customer segments have demanded more airplanes without interior models, oh well at least this makes it easy not to have to buy more DLC, if it was something as good as the Maule I would have been tempted. --John near KPAE
March 28, 201214 yr What kinds of missions could this plane possibly come with??I agree with everyone who says vote with your wallet. If they sell a good number of planes with cockpits they will make more, if not then expect more cockpitless planes. We are outnumbered by the kiddies who would want a toy model, we need to buy Maules to compete with their Mustangs and Zeros.- Gary Letona
March 28, 201214 yr And please people, if you feel as strongly as you do. I suggest you don't buy it just to confirm it's exactly what it is described as, don't buy it out of curiosity, don't buy it if you just happen to have points to spare. If this is what you're after, by all means buy it. A message needs to be sent. Buying something just for the sake of buying/collecting is just going to tell MS it's acceptable to sell shells of aircraft..I've seen Microsoft at it's worst and I have no clue what the heck is going on with Flight.. It's like a neutered version of Midtown Madness with updated graphics and planes instead of cars. March 28, 201214 yr What kinds of missions could this plane possibly come with??No missions, just like the P-51. And just like you said, it is purely a "toy model". But I think the good news is that the team does not have to spend too much time working on "toy models" and can instead work more on the upcoming Alaska pack. It feels to me almost like a "placeholder".
March 28, 201214 yr While I will admit to enjoying Flight and it's DLC, I also have to say that I have $0.00USD invested in it courtesy of the beta process. This announcement has no real impact on me, as I am not a "plane person" when using Flight or any prior versions of the game. But I will admit to being surprised at this release announcement. I have the Mustang for Flight and have used it once to gain an aerocache. Then it went back into the hangar! I can only "vote" with my credit card as to how I feel about this release.I still look forward to Alaska and hopefully a nice plane to tour about, such as a remade DC-3. One can only hope and I am an optomist about Flight. Not quite ready to proclaim myself as a hardcore beta tester (HCBT) just yet!
March 28, 201214 yr Yes, I hope they learn a lesson from this, pronto. Talk about how to upset as many positive supporters as possible!Ha, I've just thought of a reason. I'm guessing someone high up has a performance contract that specifies 'X no. of addons supplied per year'. I think we are lucky it has an animated propeller (well at least I think it has one?). March 28, 201214 yr Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with swarms of that very aircraft? One of the Aerocaches is the USS Arizona memorial? So now you can fly around the islands and reminisce about the day the Japanese destroyed Hawaii. I don't find that appropriate and very dishonorable to the American miltary men and women who died there. That's just my opinion. I think the zero was a cool plane, but in this instance, I think its a little insensitive. FLIGHT team, you are really out of touch.I agree! I am shocked and dissapointed in MS flight team. What's next? Manhatten Island with a re-creation of the Twin Towers; and an aerocache between them?Shame MS; SHAME! Flight gamertag = ronzo155
March 28, 201214 yr They have probably assumed that people downloading the mustang meant people wanted more of the same.HelloOf course they did, the mustang was always in there as DLC vs the Maule in order to gauge what would sell the best as DLC,Aircraft flown externally in the way that most "gamers" approach flying and racing or the traditional cockpit flying that simulation fans are used to.The Mustang obviously has been very popular with the masses, and so that sets the direction that the team takes with DLC.This is not a secret, Joshua has mentioned it many times in the past. The market determines the direction Flight! takes and the market has spoken. nothing wrong with that.
March 28, 201214 yr I don't know wether to laugh or cry... Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
March 28, 201214 yr I bought Mustang by mistake (didn't saw that's external view only). Will not do same mistake again. March 28, 201214 yr That plane is so completely random though.. A Zero.... Of all the GA aircraft you could have built to fly around Hawaii... You choose a war plane without a cockpit... :LMAO: That would be like FTX making an announcement "We are happy to announce the availability of Orbx Lunar Surface Montes Cordillera Region" ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
March 28, 201214 yr Was about to buy the Zero...but then you folks found out it has no cockpit, so then I guess i will not buy this one (and I didn't buy the Mustang, either). I'm a HUGE WWII buff, too!Btw, the Zero does have a place in history with Alaska.....you folks remember that Japan attacked Alaska after Pearl Harbor, right? Mmm.., they too asked themselves ... 'were the h%#. is that cockpitt? ;-)I'v learned from my mistakes (bought the P51 and didn't noticed there was no cockpitt). So, one cockpitless plane is enought. Enjoy till now MSF, but this is not the best marketingstrategy of MSoft. Think they only want to fill up the silence after the first release of Flight?
March 28, 201214 yr If they released a plane with a working vc (Moving eyepoint back in to the cockpit sounds like it gives you a non working vc), It would of taken longer, took dev time away from the Alaska dlc and the people who don't want to spend the cash to get a deluxe plane would of been left out and would be moaning they didn't get a plane, no win. "Hardcore" simmers have got the Alaska dlc coming which will most likely have a plane with a fully working vc, if not then is the time to start getting worried. On the product page for the external only planes, it says something along the lines of external model only, Is that a recent addition? do people not read up on what they are buying?
