Qualitywings Avro for FSX released!

Sounds like it's credit card time. With a dark and rainy Bank Holiday Monday forecast, I can't think of anything better to do!

The Flight 1 ATR 72-500 is still one of my fav tubo prop to fly..although the VC is a tad dated.

How does the flight dymanics compare to that one? I can see the amazing quality of the VC an all from the images.

A 4 engine turbo prop sounds like right up my ally. But I'd like some feed back from you guys, in terms of how good it is to hand fly and land this aircraft.

From the manuals it looks like an excellent release. Me is very tempted.

Sounds like it's credit card time.

Im in the same place but with me debt card :)

I really need a new pc and the amount of addons i want seem to be released when im saving money for a reason.. my money is really starting to burn a hole in me pocket as its keeps saying.. spend me... spend me.. SPEND ME NOW!!!!

damm what to do.. spend me money and hope me pc will last or keep saving for a new cpu and motherboard :(

What are you running now, gandy? Oops, saw the config link. Looks still current to me. If overclocked, it's a good rig.

I thought you had some old dual core thingy from your text. Even those may still work fine. Ever tried those new DX10 fixes for FSX? Some folks report really good results.

The i7-920 i have is the wife's cpu, she has my 960.. and she cooked the 920 alive.. it has so many issues.. it keeps corrupting the cmos on boot if it allows the pc to boot, when running windows or any game at all, they tend to bsod or the shader cache in me 470 takes its revenge and crashes the drivers or hard locks the pc when running games in full screen.. My pc is very ill at the moment. Mother board and memory are fine though :)

Fps is not really an issue but the benefit of having the wife's faulty cpu is that i can justify buying a new cpu, mobo, gfx card, memory, case, bigger ssd drives and a new optical drive. Its not all bad in the long run :)

I just want this 146.. its calling me but got to save some money.. maybe in 4 to 6 weeks the 146 will be mine :)

-Paul-

Now that makes sense with the cmos and boot trouble and things. Fully agreed.

As for the plane, nice reports so far and, as said, great manuals. I think I will reward myself with it soon. Either way, if someone has any show stoppers, please let us know.

you know i have never read a manual to fly an addon for fsx.. between user posts and youtube its served me well, but now i find myself wanting more so performance chats are a must for any addon :)

p.s. in my new build im going to try and sneak in a vrinsight yoke and hope she does not notice :)

I've got an interest in the Avro, but some questions for those of you who are flying it in FSX:

This is going to sound strange, but does the airplane fit the bill on the "lightweight" side of systems? I understand and appreciate the deeper complexity which QW have put into the FMC and autopilot systems, but there are times when I just want to hop in, plug in a -->Direct destination in ye olde FSX GPS, and get going with some quick clicks.

Will the QW Avro be able to support that type of flying in addition to its well done systems work? I'd like to use it in both fashions. I'd take full advantage of its FMC and more sophisticated systems some of the time, but there are other days where I just want to take it easy.

Anyone have any insights? I've got the software downloaded on my PC from Flight1, but haven't pulled that purchase trigger yet...

Cheers,

-Greg

Wonderful product. I did have a crash though bae146.gau I think I hit the FMC buttons too many times rapidly or something I don't know.

Far far superior to the other version out there ( I had it). The manual is incredible and the graphics are excellent! As an overall package, based on graphics, manuals, livery installer, aircraft dynamics, tutorials, etc. this comes in top 5 of the best FSX payware aircraft addons (just my opinion) Very happy!

Check the manuals on their page if you like. They are free to load and you will find more details on the system depth and the extra lite mode, which sounds like something you are looking for.

Hello

Using the QW config tool you can select between Standard and Lite panel modes

So both styles of flying are possible, Here is what the manual says about the simplifications using the Lite panel mode

 VNAV disabled.

 Autoland disabled.

 FLCH disabled.

 Thrust Hold disabled.

 Single button push complete start/shutdown option (Start/Stop button displays on overhead pan-el).

 Z key toggles on/off A/P.

 CTRL-H toggles on/off heading Sel mode.

 CTRL-Z toggles on/off altitude hold mode.

 Vertical speed window always open.

 When Alt Hold is activated V/S hold is also activated.

 LNAV will engage (not arm) if selected, it will immediately turn to the next active wpt instead of

flying the current heading until intercepting track (intercept heading not required).

 Autopilot can be turned on anytime (even on the ground).

 Speed/Mach hold can be activated anytime (even on the ground).

 Pressing CMD button toggles on/off autopilot.

 Heading hold disabled (only Heading select is available).

 Automatic Air switching for proper Air Conditioning.

 IRS will align whether aircraft is in motion or not.

 Warning Chimes disabled

 In Overhead panel a 'Start/Stop' button displays.

Just bought it :shok:

You might be a bit dissapointed then, its a 4 engine jet, not a turboprop :-)
