January 6, 201313 yr I defiantly want to "cram" my sim with every addon I paid for......or else I would not have paid for them (and they where not cheap). So if anyone is to blame I would say it is Microsoft not me. Wish FSX would have already had good traffic, airports, textures, and most of all room to grow. But like you say what are our options. For me since I do like my Orbx, UT, Vancouver 3, REX, complex planes, Opus and I already own them the option now is not to add this great airport. I quit FSX for over a year due to OOM problem. When I got my new system I thought my problems would be over. Unfortunately I have learned more than I knew back then and at some point feel I will get frustrated again and quit. FSX is a strange bird. On one hand we love to fly. But what really brings us all back is addons and tweaking. If everything was there from the start we probably would not be here at all. I guess my best strategy would be to stop looking at new addons and just fly. But I feel an addiction that keeps this sport interesting. January 6, 201313 yr I don't know why you guys are having so much trouble. Orbx UK + UK2000 airports + REX 4096 HD textures + OPUS + FSInn + PMDG 737NGX all running at the same time work well for me with no crashes. 2500k overclocked to 4.7 ghz, Nvidia 660Ti, Windows 7 64x, with 8 GB ram here. January 6, 201313 yr I don't blame FSDT CYVR in the least. Load it up with a default GA with basic weather and u r far from the 4gb limit. Add ngx into the picture and some fancy weather graphics and boom your at max. Ngx takes 800mb on its own. This will only get worse as far as pushing the limit. FSlabs Pmdg and majestic coming out with even more sophisticated aircraft than the Ngx they are for sure not going to be light on memory. But we all crave it. Now someone has to find a way to circumvent the 4Gb limit without the 64 bit code option. Figure out a way to have the 4GB spill over to an SSD drive or something. First thing on peoples minds.. it can't be done. Going to the moon couldn't be done either 60 years ago. They found a way. I'm ignorant to programming but I've seen the past 6 years of fsx limitations have all kinds of work arounds in leaps and bounds. Until a new sim comes around we have to find other ways while balancing the great addons we get. I'm not giving up on it. Love flying too much. And too much money invested in it to give up. January 6, 201313 yr My thoughts exactly... Flight simulation would be growing with new users and healthy if we had a stable platform.... This is the biggest barrier to the hobby and I personally believe it is keeping thousands of people away from it. If we aren't careful, we will be the ones who let the hobby slowly fade into the past. I do agree with you Ben I have many friend that would love to try FSX but to get it running with out any crashes you have to go threw a lot of things. They saw what i had to go threw to get fsx running as smooth as possible . An they think is to much of a work for one simulator . I hate to say it but much of the people am talking to prefer prepare 3d than fsx because of the crashes . I have to give credit to all the developers that try to make good addons with the little microsoft has to offer. No directx 10 or 11 supported. Lots of menu crashes that we simmers had to figure out how to solve them. When new fsx user start seeing those amazing HD videos on youtube that is when their interest starts to build up for fsx , to get it looking just like those video . But when they start facing those strange crashes at some point they get tired an move on to something like X plane or prepare 3d. You have to love this hobby to have patient an work with every crashes you get . But some people just want to fly with less crashing an more flying . I know that by using what FSX has to offer from default you will get less crashes . But still where is the fun in that when you can't fly a quality addon like PMDG NGX or Real Air etc...... You have to give it up for those developers that works hard on these addon . I can't imagine the painful work that they have to go threw to get their product working nice an stable in simulator that only support directx 9. FSDreamteam CYVR love that they finally made Vancouver guest an flying there tonight  Mr Leny CPU I7 8700K @ 5.0GHz , MOBO -Asus Maximus X Hero (WiFi AC),GPU - GTX1080 TI , RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 16GB DDR4 3600MHz SSD -Crucial MX500 1TB (P3D Install Only)OS- Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (Window 10 Pro 64)
January 6, 201313 yr Paul I didn't see VC shadows in NGX is this true ? True. Think it has something to do with the glass reflections on the PMDG. January 6, 201313 yr And it is by far FSDT's worst scenery so far regarding performance (on my system). And I have almost everything from them (except Zurich and the two Hawai regional airport packages). It is even worse than (the until now worst of all) KJFK.
January 6, 201313 yr I may just up and purchase a license to this yet I loaded this thing up with full everything except i did not use UT2* I do use ORBX No OOMs as yet Does not exceed 3.8G RAM (I can go to 4G) Used 1334MB VRAM; DX9/or/10; headroom fix; Word Not Allowed tweaks fps = 22, full AG 16G RAM on a i5-2500K @ 4.7G with 4G VRAM on a 670 *with UT2 almost at max it lowered my fps to 11-15 without much adding to VRAM or VAS
January 6, 201313 yr Does the 5 minute DEMO timeout start counting at t=0 for FSX or for loading CYVR
January 6, 201313 yr Over the last 24 hours, I played with disabling startup and background programs for Windows. I used AVG's PCTuneUp to determine what I can disable without causing problems. I just started a flight in DX9 mode from FSDT CYVR to MMPR at dawn on a PMDG NGX, running TrackIR 5, ASE, UT2, and ORBX PNW. My FSX.cfg is based on Kostas's now famous "Software and Hardware Guide" http://forum.avsim.net/tutorials/article/78-software-hardware-guide-for-fsx/ As of now, I'm 80NM out of Vancouver and well on my way to FL370. My next test will be to try to approach, land, and park at CYVR without any OOMs. LUIS LINARES Processor: Intel Core i9 6700K 9900K (5.0 GHz Turbo) Eight Core; CPU Cooling: NXXT Kraken X62 280mm CPU Liquid Cooler; System Memory: 64GB Corsair DDR4 SDRAM @ 3200 MHz, RGB; Graphics Processor: 11GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GDDR6, Primary Drive: 2TB Samsung 850 Pro Solid State Drive (SSD)
January 6, 201313 yr Used 1334MB VRAM; DX9/or/10; headroom fix; Word Not Allowed tweaks Headroom fix? Which fix are you referring to here? BTW, in my simple tests (not with CYVR - haven't decided on this one yet), I see no clear memory advantage to DX10. In one set of circumstances, DX9 used a bit more VAS, and in another DX10 did. None of the differences were statistically significant. As I mentioned in another thread, that's not to say that there might not be some advantages in some circumstances, but I sure don't see anything major. Also I'd be curious (I guess I need to register at FSDT's forums - I do own KLAS), but the numbers on Umberto's graphs between DX9 and DX10 don't match the graphs themselves which seem virtually identical. January 6, 201313 yr Hi everyone, I took a quick spin after purchasing CYVR last night and I am a happy customer. One thing I noticed and wanted to ask is if anyone has any issues with the touchdown marking lights at either end of the runway. Instead of laying flat they are standing vertically almost standing as high as the aircraft tyres. To best describe the lights is If I was watching from the spot view the lights change from white to red indicating a hazard on the runway. And a second thing is that I have a couple of really healty evergreen trees growing on the taxiway near the firestation. I did have Orbx PNW activated and did not try without but I thought that I would get my question posted before I had a chance to try without Orbx later on today. Thanks. \Robert Hamlich/

Have a look through the FSDT CYVR forum. Its all most likely cause is additional AFCAD, other scenery, or mesh related or something to that effect. Im pretty sure they wouldnt release it with that kind of situation and I saw some sort of solution if you have these issues. BTW Robert, you well know in and around Vancouver there is evergreens galore and they can pop up just about anywhere, maybe even taxiways. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
January 6, 201313 yr Plain and simple you do not have enough video ram with CYVR thats it no secret here. I find it very usable on my 4 gig card turn down your clouds - AI - no traffic - then try it. Rich Sennett
January 6, 201313 yr Interesting I own JFJK and CYVR and JFJK is not as taxing on my system as CYVR Rich Sennett
