April 29, 201313 yr I decided to pass on this update. Price is insignificant. I just prefer devs like FlyTampa. I can install a great scenery package without activation issues, scenery popping, stutters, or OOM errors. I've deleted all my FSDT sceneries until I get a new system. It could take a few years or a new platform. I'm tired of trying to fix FSX. MSFS
April 29, 201313 yr Depends on the point of view. We have big companies and small companies that have different approaches to this matter. Microsoft for one has never charged me a penny for its O.S. updates. Of the smaller companies in sim world I could take for example the Sibwings. They provided free version of their upgraded planes when we got to change platform from FS9 to FSX. Fair deal I must say. And one loyal customer created as well. It is good to remember that we customers are also investors, we participate in the development by buying things and sometimes we expect profit from our investments. But this is just my way of seeing things, I have no interest to be a benefactor for the developers, just a customer. Buying sim addon is no different from buying an anti-virus software or any other software for that matter. It is a product to fullfil a need. But this is already OT. I agree with most of what you said. I say most because Microsoft has to update its windows as they are anything but solid and complete products when they are released in my opinion. FSDT called it V2 as it seems to be almost totaly new, and not just a minor improvement, and keep in mind that they offered the original for both fs9, and fsx without an extra charge. I am not necessrily here to defend one developer or the other, but I remember getting really upset when a developer once was asking indirectly for an opinion of whether they can charge an upgrade fee for an airport. The reason I got upset is that it was a total remake, and so deserved a full price in my opinion, and he was only looking at an upgrade price. You have to keep in mind that some developers live off of what they sell to us, and if they do not make enough money, then that is one less developer in our small market. I am refering to decent developers, who aim to keep us satisfied and happy with their products. Again, I stress that this is my personal view, and not a binding one (lol) on any of my fellow simmers. April 29, 201313 yr Well, sadly I just got 10fps landing at JFK v2 in the Airbus Extended. If there is a 30% improvement in performance, I sure didn't see it. That's too bad, I get at least double that in the NGX with Manhattan X and UT2 plus extremely high settings at night and in severe weather. What are your system specs, FS settings? I find that the new version has definitely provided a performance increase both in terms of FPS and loading times, including texture loading while in the sim.
April 29, 201313 yr I'm looking forward to Drzewiecki replicating NYC's skyline and they should do a great job with LGA and EWR. Their product will allow you to turn off the JFK that will be included. I have their Miami product, where they offer MIA as part of the product, but since I already have LatinVFR MIA, I just kept that one. Once thing for sure, I will use DX10 mode to avoid OOMs with so much detail. Cant wait! Any time frame for release? Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Eric
April 29, 201313 yr Hummm. I personally do not feel right taking a shot at a developer for poor customer service and then refusing to praise them for good customer service. I just cannot balance it out that way. I'm lost. Where did I take a shot a developer for bad service? I do agree with you though. It goes both ways. Keep your mouth open whether good or bad or keep your mouth shut whether good or bad. Gotta be consistent. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Last I checked, it was later in the year, with no specific date. I know they will release Chopin Airport in Warsaw to add to their city product, and that will be followed by NYC. My experience with their Miami product ahs been very positive, and I hope NYC lives up to the same standard. April 29, 201313 yr I flew out out the NGX, had to disable Manhattan X though. Got about 10-15 fps. Likely your CPU isn't fast enough to handle the workload. My system hits 20+ with the same software and scenery settings at their highest.
April 30, 201313 yr Not necessarily that simple though. I have an i7-2700k clocked to 4.7ghz and am having a lot of performance problems. - Aaron

There's no need to wait for any feedback, and it doesn't make any sense anyway, because every system is different, and different settings and the combination of add-ons used and your own expectations, means the only reasonable way to know if a product works for YOU, is to try it on YOUR system. Which is why, we always offered freely downloadable Trial versions, that are exactly the same as the full version, and can be launched an unlimited number of times, just for 5-6 minutes at time, so you can try with some settings, make some tweaks, restart FSX, try again for other 5 minutes, and so on. April 30, 201313 yr Not necessarily that simple though. I have an i7-2700k clocked to 4.7ghz and am having a lot of performance problems. Something is wrong with your config or maybe you have a duplicate AFCAD because I can get double that on a 3770k @ 4.9GHz.
April 30, 201313 yr Author I asked this same question on the FSDT forum, and I'm waiting for a reply. Maybe you guys can help me: I only see jetways at JFK v2 only during the day. They disappear at night, dawn, and dusk. I have my autogen at sparse or higher, and I'm in DX10 preview, which FST takes full advantage of. Has anyone noticed this? Maybe, I'll do a reinstallation of JFK v2 tonight to see if that helps. April 30, 201313 yr I purchased version 1 last Xmas and version 2 yesterday. There was no 'docking' indicators in version 1 and I was sad to see that they are still missing in version 2? Why was this? George T
