The 70% off is for all existing customers who bought the first release KJFK; offer runs until the end of May.

I'll be getting this soon.

I'm wondering what the next FSDT project will be.

Quoting Umberto today from FSDT.

We measured a 30% increase in fps with the same settings, and we have better ground resolution now, and 3d taxiway bridges too, see two screenshot at the same place with exactly the same settings for JFK V1 against V2:

That is very good news.  That area in general is the most taxing on frame rates on my system, keeping in mind that I also have the adjacent Aerosoft NYC and the GMAN photo real KLGA installed.

I read that you enhanced some of the surrounding area.  Did you do anything with  Floyd Bennett Field?

If we could only clone the FSDT team and have them take on the world's major hubs.

I would personally love to see them do a NY triple play by doing LGA and EWR to add to JFK.

While it would be cool I doubt the ole' VAS could handle that....  I'm still waiting for MSP (now all at once, post your home airport request lol)

No OOM's here, I run UT2, GEX, UTX, Fs2Crew, NGX, FSINN, REX, GEX and AES2012 all at the same time. FPS are great, scenery looks amazing!

Wonderful that an update is released from one of the most beautiful scenery and airports, but why do I have to pay extra for!

I bought this scenery for 23 euros, and may then assume that updates are inclusive. But apparently that is not the case with FSDT.

Well I get 60% discount on the actual price but in total I now pay about 36 euros in total for one scenery. Why not offer a free update to your existing customers as it should. Not really customer friendly in my thought.

John

I have same thoughts. In my book only fool pays twice. Luckily the V1 is fine enough.

I like the Aerosoft policy, they've expressed it quite clearly, that with them you don't pay twice.

The VAS hit is significant. On version 1.2 with the Cessna, my VAS would sit around 1.5 at JFK. Now it's around 2.2 with version 2.

That makes a Concorde X flight out of JFK impossible.

(But that mainly reflects the bad manners of FS Labs in using so much VAS, not FSDT).

You are really confusing things: the "FSDT policy" has always been that products updates are free. As I've said, we released tons of updates for all our products (GSX is updated at least every two weeks), and even MAJOR upgrades, such those for Zurich and O'Hare for free.

This is not a regular upgrade, it's a massive remake that took several months of work, for a product that was originally released in SEPTEMBER 2008, and got many FREE updates since then.

A correct comparison with the "Aerosoft policy", would be the paid update for the Airbus X Extended for users of the previous Airbus X:

http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=12065&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight%20Simulation&s_language=english

Airbus X Download to Airbus X Extended Download:

19,95 € incl. 19% VAT (without VAT 16,76 €). Please enter the "Airbus X" serial code during the order process (above the selection of the payment method).

With the difference the Airbus Extended upgrade discount is less favorable than what we are offering for JFK ( 19.95€ vs 29.95€ = 33% discount, not 60/70% ), and the original Airbus X was released in 2010, not 2008...

This doesn't mean I think Aerosoft is wrong asking for that kind of money for the updated Airbus: they have every right to do so, and they would be crazy giving it away for free, considering all the improvements.

There's a VAS hit, for reasons explained on our forum:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=8498.msg69344#msg69344

But it's not nearly as high as you are reporting. I've measured about 250MB more from JFK to JFK v2, with everything else being equal.

A 700MB difference like you are reporting is not due to the scenery, but other settings you have changed in the meantime. It's possible the different AFCAD is calling for a different distribution of AI, or you tried at different times of the day, but to assess the real impact of the SCENERY, you should always test under the same conditions, same settings, same time, same weather and without any AI.

The safest way is to save a flight and start from that one, with the option of using the time/date of the saved flight. Test the fps/VAS with a scenery, exit from FSX, Uninstall, install the other version, load FSX with the saved flight, and test again.

The FPS are definitely better.  In fact, excellent.

My VAS calculations are run under using a standard flight.  Conveniently, I had JFK set up as my testing airport because I was trying to reduce the VAS hit from Concorde X a week or two ago.

The VAS hit may be higher on my computer because I run at a high screen resolution  I run at 2560x1600 on a 30" screen, and TH2Go users run even higher.

Still, I'm not really knocking it.  Cessna + JFK + all my other stuff at 2.2 GB is ok.

2 GB for one aircraft - now that's insane (tsk tsk FS Labs).
