April 27, 201313 yr Just got it installed now I am just about to take a helo tour and see the changes. Hopefully it doesn't have all of the OOM issues CYVR does. Mike Keigley
April 27, 201313 yr The VAS hit appears fairly low at least on my end... I'd say it's on par with some of their earlier stuff (at least the ones I've got LAX, DFW, etc) FPS are much better than version 1. Oddly though, the ground textures are very dark. If you look at the airport's border, even with the FSDT photoreal (the photoreal is about the same color as FSX default), but between the airport border and their own photoreal it's quite a harsh line. The textures seem too dark... almost like too much color saturation and increased contrast. Other than that it's well done! here's a little example of what I mean. You can see the stock (well technically GEX textures) at the top, FSDT photoscenery, then the harsh darkened airport textures | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 27, 201313 yr I see the same thing, there is a definite line at the airport boundary where the ground textures get significantly darker.
April 27, 201313 yr Just finished a tour with the stock Bell and it was very fluid. Test with the NGX on the Canarsie approach resulted in an OOM within minutes. These two addons don't play nice. Mike Keigley
April 27, 201313 yr Yeah actually I have to revise my VAS and fps results... once you add back in NGX/Legacy/Mustang etc any advanced plane from the last year, the VAS get's really close to OOM territory. I saw 3.6GB with the Legacy (LOD 5.5 and that's without any AI). FPS are still around KLAX/KDFW/KLAS etc... And no I don't have any ENB type addons. To be picky... in real life there's no more big hangar behind the SW parking 0 (aka the big GA tent)... they must have recently torn it down oh well. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

April 27, 201313 yr Wonderful that an update is released from one of the most beautiful scenery and airports, but why do I have to pay extra for! I bought this scenery for 23 euros, and may then assume that updates are inclusive. But apparently that is not the case with FSDT. Well I get 60% discount on the actual price but in total I now pay about 36 euros in total for one scenery. Why not offer a free update to your existing customers as it should. Not really customer friendly in my thought. John Greetings/Groeten, John The Netherlands Pilot KLMVA (KLM052) / Transavia (TRA1548) and TNT Cargo (TAY1117)
April 27, 201313 yr Commercial Member X2. Want to hear specifically about frame rates vs previous version. We measured a 30% increase in fps with the same settings, and we have better ground resolution now, and 3d taxiway bridges too, see two screenshot at the same place with exactly the same settings for JFK V1 against V2: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=8498.msg69304#msg69304 Wonderful that an update is released from one of the most beautiful scenery and airports, but why do I have to pay extra for! Well I get 60% discount on the actual price but in total I now pay about 36 euros in total for one scenery. Why not offer a free update to your existing customers as it should. Not really customer friendly in my thought. John JFK V1 has been released in September 2008, and for the past 4.5 years, ALL updates to it were ALWAYS FREE. Updates ARE usually free at FSDT, we released two MAJOR updates, to Zurich which were all free, and a MAJOR update to O'Hare which was also free. This not counting the "maintenance" updates, which are far more common and obviously free as well. However, JFK update was the larger we made so far, and it took about 3-4 months of full time work, which is about 1/3rd of the time we spend to do an entirely new scenery from scratch, so we decided to price the upgrade at about 1/3rd of the price for existing users. On top of that, that THIS update would have been a paid one, has been hinted on our forum since months. On top of that, if you purchased JFK V1 in 2013, you have a right to a 70% discount, and even if you bought it earlier, if you purchase the upgrade before the end of May, you can ALSO get the 70% discount. 60% discount will go in effect from June 1st only, and only for those that purchased last year and before. Now, a question: for a product (ANY product) that has been released 4.5 years ago, and already was updated many times for free, how much time would you consider to be "customer friendly", to offer free updates ? 5 years, 10 years ? April 27, 201313 yr With the work involved I think 10.00$ dollars more is a deal - thank you Rich Sennett
April 27, 201313 yr hmm I just bought JFK last week.. yesterday I got the Dash 8.. But if its only $10 to upgrade then I suppose its not too bad. Brent Lewis
April 27, 201313 yr Moderator With the work involved I think 10.00$ dollars more is a deal - thank you I agree, $10.00 for an upgrade is nothing for the amount of work put into it and for a 30% increase in performance. Cant see how anyone could complain about that. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

April 27, 201313 yr I never praise a Flightsim developer for outstanding customer service. I dont see a reason too. They are a company who wants to make money so it is in their best interests too provide said customer service. However, what I saw today was a departure from the expected and an arrival into the realm of phenomenal customer service and grattitude for the customer. I went to purchase JFK v2 and entered the coupon code for having bought v1 before 2013. At the check out screen I find that the 70% discount has been applied. I think that this must be a mistake. I entered I double checked and the code I entered was correct. FSDT applying the greater discount automatically is one of the top things I have seen from a developer in this community. Its the most awesome Thank you a developer could give a customer. Im glad to see a company doing things like this as a nice surprise. Thank you FSDreamteam for all the work and the great gift! Now hopefully we see KIAH in the near future! FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024
