Aircrafts to be retired after the 777?

Featured Replies

Good morning/afternoon/evening folks, i would like to know which aircraft you are going to retire after we receive the 777, what is your position toward the level d 767, md 11 and the 747? Personally, i will definetly say goodbye to the level d 767, but still considering to keep the at least the md 11 on stand by.

Hello,

Main focus will shift towards the T7, which means that actually all others will be stored. Just so you wont confuse the different cockpits.

737NGX and 747-400X

The level D is definitely going into mothballs. The MD-11 is a good cargo A/C but will have a reduced role because the cockpit differences are so great from the Boeing fleet. The 747 is going to become a specialty a/c for me. I enjoy flying R/W routes so I will keep them around but, the T7 and the 738 will be my goto planes.

My MD-11 was retired from regular service when the NGX came out, but it still does some charter flights here and there. I've been dividing my time between the NGX and the Q400 lately. The 777 will force me to send the MD-11 to a scrap yard and it'll be the only thing I'll fly for a few days or weeks, but I'll eventually go back to the NGX and the Q400.

I tend to fly my favourites in sequence. NGX got 150 hours online until I got a serious MD-11 hangup, wich I still have after 200 hours online, with a small break with flying the J41 around Scandinavia. So, when the T7 arrives, the other three will be parked for quite a long tlme, until I dust them off for another binge :)

My MD-11 fleet will never be retired.  The only plane I can see retiring is the 747-400 and that's only after v2 is released.

Every single aircraft within FSX will be deleted, forever. Besides the Base Package & Expansions, I'll never need to buy another aircraft add-on. I may keep my Carenado SR22 if I want to have some fun in a GA and do a route I'm planning for the real world,  but that's about it!

What more do you need than a B777!

i would like to know which aircraft you are going to retire after we receive the 777,

My M11 currently operates routes served by the 330 and 777. When the 77L/77W/77F are released, the M11 will be retired from the 777 routes. Other than that, no changes will be made in my hangar.

I don't think its a matter of retirement, but memory's of the good times we've had in that unlucky airliner hitting the box. I will be putting the 747-400X away for good as my main focus will be on the T7 until the 747-V2 comes out.

I will keep my NGX for shot haul and the 777 for medium to long haul.

The MD11 will be for standby while the J41 will probably go.

My Level D 767 went years ago!

It's a welcome addition but i have use for all the rest :)

At the moment I am spending my time during the day primarily flying the 737 NGX, with FSX's kind cooperation today, I was able to do a DAAG to OMDB flight, which was quite fantastic. Overnight flights though, the 747 400X is still the favourite there, not much beats the sensation of bringing that plane into Heathrow first thing in the morning. I am inclined to agree with the sentiment that the 747 will only be retired once PMDG releases the V2 of that beauty. The 777 will be added to the fleet and used based on where I feel like flying to. Which probably means at initial launch there will be a lot of toing and froing between London and Beijing.

I am not sure what to do with Level D 767 yet, but I am sure that at some point in time, I will find a use for it again, As the only add ons I have are the PMDG 747, 737, JS 4100, and the Level D 767, there's not much to retire. And since I am rather fond of flying to places where I have some decent add on scenery, sometimes the old 767 is the only option available.

Geez, what a truly ridiculous way to come to a decision about what planes to use and keep. I'm getting coffee, the brain seems to be running low on fuel.

I rotate through the quality aircraft - but it's amazing how fast I get rusty on the instruments. After several months in the NGX, I find myself fumbling for the switches in the MD-11. It takes a few flights to get back into the rhythm of the aircraft.

The Airbus packages I have get ignored because for my own crazy reasons, I use a yoke for Boeing and a stick for Airbus - and changing things around on my desk isn't worth the headache - along with the great fear of FSX losing the joystick mappings for unknown reasons.

I tend to pick the departure/destination as my preference, then find a real world route and aircraft to use. So my hangar doesn't see too many retirements.

My default 747-400.  I had the PMDG 747 but felt the default one was just so much higher quality :-)

I will be sad to see it go :P

People are being pretty optimistic about the performance of this add-on. What if it eats frame rates, or doesn't handle realistically, or whatever? Talk of sending your fleet to Victorville before you've flown an hour seems premature. I still fly my QW757 way more than the NGX, because I like 757's. And even though I would probably delete the Opensky 777s in my fleet, the 757 isn't going anywhere.
