So how much does a runway being inop  affect an airport like SFO? Obviously the debris, wreckage etc isn't going anywhere anytime soon so that runway is going to be inop for a few weeks I'm guessing?

Well poop, the yellow arrow won't show on this image, but it is directly lined up with 28L, a few hundred feet from the rocks (about where the first 'wide' bar from the shore of the approach lights):

I keep thinking Reserve Fuel and Alternate Airport, two things I rarely focus on when I plan a flight (simulated).

Yes, I suppose so. Assuming that this data is even reasonably correct, 109 kias @ 100' AGL sounds rather low and slow at that location...
