September 2, 201312 yr I like to pick a sporting event to follow. The PGA is a good one. Flying the F1 Mustang, I fly charters for the pros to their various destinations and then home again. I do this mostly in the US but occasionally on the European tour as well. While in one of the tour cities, I'll spend some time doing VFR in the area. For this I like high wing for the better visibility. The Carenado T210 is one of my fav's. Joe Brown
September 2, 201312 yr I'm german, but I exclusively fly in the USA. In the 80s. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
September 2, 201312 yr I'm an American and I do most of my flying outside the US. For me the ability to wander to exotic places all over the world is the greatest appeal of FS. It helps when there's good scenery available, of course! I probably do most of my flying in Europe and Asia (including Russia and the former Soviet Union).
September 2, 201312 yr Author But still; get out and explore! .... I am of course making a sweeping generalism, and Nathan's post above shows that there are many exceptions but I just seem to noticed a lot of Americans saying "I'm only interestested in North America" or "I only fly in the US". Guilty as charged!!! I kind of like Henry's idea - become a tourist for an extended period of time in a specific region. Interesting. Following sporting events is also a great idea. I love my SF Giants - maybe I can fly to away games to watch them get their butts kicked... September 2, 201312 yr I'm not much of a long hauler so a hop across from the UK to Schipol, Frankfurt or Geneva is usually long enough for me. Thankfully there's plenty of variety in European flying, from the frozen winters of the Alps to the scorching summers of Ibiza or the Greek Islands. I think the 777 with its time compression feature will open up a lot of new destinations for us all. I'd never think of flying to Russia or China for example but from Dubai these are all doable in a couple of hours. That will be a game changer. | Ben Weston www.airline2sim.com
September 2, 201312 yr I'm lucky, i live in the UK but originate from NZ, so i fly over Europe and Australasia, when i start doing long haul flights when the pmdg 777 is released, i will explore even more of the world, especially USA and South Africa. Adam
September 2, 201312 yr My problem is that unless it is photoreal scenery, it isn't familiar and even though I might not have ever been there, I know in my mind that I am not looking at the real thing. Simming after a real flight makes it worse, LOL. the closest compromise would be photoreal mountain ranges, so I can enjoy those types of areas more because of the beauty and not get caught in the is this real or not scenario. After real flights i usually load up megacity Dallas since I can retrace my steps in the air fairly well and even fly over my apt. Other than that, Texas isn't to interesting from the air (flat!) unless you are closer to new mexico and mexico. I never fly anything as big as a 737 or bigger, so scenery is important to me. Since i do scenery design, I really enjoy exploring new, exciting places and making them photoreal if possible, gives a small sense of actually seeing what it is really like from the air. I recently discovered and made some amazing photoreal areas in the horn of Africa. Best, Michael KDFW

September 2, 201312 yr I fly in FSeconomy. 6 months ago I bought a Cessna 210 centurion at Australia thinking that I could fly it to SKVV which is at Colombia. Soon I realized that is impossible. So I keep flying with a rented DC3 to earn enough cash and own 1 DC3 eventually. The thing is I bought that DC3 at Switzerland as it was the cheapest in the market. SO I flew the DC3 to Australia to cargo ferry my 210 centurion to SKVV Colombia. I spent about 6 weeks flying from Switzerland to Australia and then to Colombia. Along the flight route I was shot at near Bosnia area, someone fire at me just after I took off. My DC 3 suffered fuel leak in the left engine and I have to turn back and make an emergency landing. If you fly using FSpassenger, it has a warzone simulation. Here's a few of the routes one of which is the longest crossing(1572 nm) between Australia and South America. So for me, my biggest adventure, from Europe via Asia to Australia and finished in South America. 2013.07.06 09:18:25 SCFX SCFA FC702-31 Douglas DC-3 03:20 553 ($668.17) View 2013.07.05 19:03:36 SCIP SCFX FC702-31 Douglas DC-3 07:51 1572 ($1,572.06) View 2013.07.04 22:46:07 NTGJ SCIP FC702-31 Douglas DC-3 08:59 1405 $12,577.26 View 2013.07.04 13:43:29 NTTX NTGJ FC702-31 Douglas DC-3 01:25 231 $10,539.46 View https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 2, 201312 yr I nearly always fly from scandinavia, usually Arlanda ( Home airport ) Right now on ivao i'm doing a 'from scandinavia to all of europe tour' About to fly to dublin, will be my 18th country to visit After that I plan to fly from Europe to all continents (Not just one long haul, maybe 4 stops so I'm not sitting by the computer for 8 hours ) Aaaand after that regionals in the continents I flew to.... I could never see myself flying just in Scandinavia due to ###### scenery and it doesn't look good either...and I can imagine I'd get bored just flying in Scandinavia... I want to explore...from my screen! Lucas Hollsten

September 2, 201312 yr I've mostly isolated myself on the US west coast. Still, I've been slowly collecting scenery elsewhere and I've started studying and looking for scenery around Europe. One thing is that I've noticed is that even FSX scenery isn't all that bad. Cities, roads and VFR landmarks are pretty accurately positioned and I've used them around California when I'm doing VFR navigation. I'm hunting for England and France scenery at the moment...Aerosoft London is probably first and then some France VFR stuff. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. September 2, 201312 yr I stick to the UK primarily because it is a region where I can concentrate on upgrading the scenery and airfields to a high level of detail without bankrupting myself in the process. I really can't live with default scenery and airfields, so everything has had to be replaced. Thankfully, that process is almost complete. Of course, now that I have 60cm resolution photoscenery for Scotland, the 1.2m photoscenery of England and Wales doesn't look as good, so I need another upgrade! September 2, 201312 yr I pretty much stayed within N.A., but now with FSX-G...I go where the mood takes me. I've done more Europe, than ever since downloading it. The 'world' got slightly bigger, last month....
