FSX Fiber Accelerator?

Featured Replies

Just tried it out with UK2000 EGLL V3, PMDG777 and ASN Thunderstorms.  I still had at least one stutter/pause but things were generally smooth.  Frames as measured by Fraps were up.  Someone else said it here that best results occurred with the low end of frames in the program set at 30 with the max also at 30 in FSX.  I tried this scenario as well as one where my low frames were 20 and found the former was definitely better.  Need to do a bit more testing.  Interestingly I was really trying to find the degradation in visuals but hontestly had a hard time telling the difference between when it was on and not on.  So at least that is a positive.

Lastly, I wanted to say that I think the developer has handled the demo issue very well and I think we should all be very pleased that they have listened and responded as positively as they have done.

Hi all again,

NEW VERSION 1.1

Commercial full version:

Direct link: Full 1.1 version

Demo link: At the product description:

-----------

Fixes:

- Users (mostly with win 7) updated .net to 4.5 may had lost parts of " System.Management I.O. " from old .net 2.0 , so application was crashing with no apparent reason. Override of the function with new logic : Fixed

- Auto Updater now works

- Minor GUI fixes.

---------

To be fair with those who lost the ability to 'play' with the demo due to problems, we re-packed it , so you now have another 5 x 60 minutes, even you who used it w/o problems...

Use it wisely ;)

EDIT: Damn it,  Andy! Users are now faster than the developer :D

Love your work man - now it works:D

Best regards,

Kristoffer Løkke-Sørensen

I have tried the demo at Squamish with everything turned on and the A2A Cherokee. This is the worst performing scenario that I have. On the runway looking north I get 8 or 9 fps. If I turn on the accelerator those numbers will increase by about 3 to 4 frames. In heavy scenarios I can see this helping. The simulator seemed smooth but I did notice that my scenery wasn't fully loading and roads became blurry. Even if I paused the simulator the scenery would not clear up. Once I turned off the accelerator the scenery would clear up.

This is pretty much my experience as well with a similar I7 930 based machine: a 3-4 fps increase overall, but not a real stable increase. I am guessing that perhaps our boxes are simply a bit too underpowered to take much advantage of what the product is offering - that said, the overall flight experience did seem a bit less stutter prone in my heavy resource demand areas, so I guess I am on the fence in regards to purchasing the product right now...

This is fantastic - great work FSPS! I wouldn't have thought this was possible... but now that you've proved it is... maybe you could perhaps find a way to eliminate Autogen popping???

Personally I don't think the price is too bad for what it delivers - you would have to pay a lot more for a hardware upgrade that gives 10%-20% increase in FPS performance.

Thanks to the developers for the new installer. I never could get past some issue with Net 3.5.1.  Anyway, I'm seeing a 5-20% increase in framerates in a variety of situations. This is running ORBX NCA, ORBX Global, and REX4 Texture Direct. I'm a happy flyer and have just purchased the full version. As always YMMV......

Regarding to my recent critic about the product and the permanently change between unlimited and locked FPS I've found this posting by BD in another forum:

Using unlimited frames inside FSX is wrong at all aspects technically speaking.

Please read the product manual - or the demo instruction for what you have to do.

Never select unlimited frames inside FSX, this is a desperate measure and should be avoided. What's the gain of getting some more frames , having problems with scenery ?

We also use it, as a desperate measure, only if you can't even get stable performance at the selected "lower frames per second" inside Fiber. Lower a bit this setting if you want to avoid it.

So it's not Fiber Accelerator's fault, my FPS settings were simply too high.

I want to give this a try but I've already got a tweaked FSX cfg running with an external FPS limiter (got that from Bojotes website). Would I need to work with a fresh cfg or can I use this in tandem with all the manual tweaks I've already got?

No problem at all , with any fsx.cfg , we never read it.

I'm having an issue.... When installing, it says "Error creating file:" C:\Users\[My User]\Appdata\Local\Temp\AITMP971\aifile.cab.

Then, as soon as I press the okay selection, it says I/O error 103.

From there, the installation is stuck on C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\Manual.pdf.

The installation no longer proceeds from there. :(.

Can you provide any help, please? Thanks.

Joe.

This looks as high UAC or antivirus thing settings, problem in overwriting files during installation. Try to detele manually the installation folder and reinstall. (No harm done)

But a kind notice to all. The support system is based at http://support.thefsps.com If you have a problem better to throw it there so to be served in order.

It works at last! At certain airport i do get an fps increase. At flytampa's dubai and pmdg's 737 i maxed everything out for the fun of it. Without fiber it was bad, very bad. About 15 fps. With it 25fps on average. Much better and smoother.

So good so far...

I'm always skeptical about programs and utilities that make such claims, so I'll be waiting for some of the long-term user reviews to surface.  I'm curious what is dynamically changed while its being used.  I'm also wondering if I install the demo, or the full program, then uninstall it, what (if anything) will I need to repair/restore in FSX?  I'm sorry to say, there are several utilities and programs out there that basically render FSX unusable once you uninstall them.  I've been a huge fan of "hand-tweaking" on my system...I can quantitatively asses each variable and tweak, one by one, and its impact on my own individual system, rather than use "one-size fits all" tweaks.

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

Well I bought your Sim Physics X program due to a recommendation and like the braking physics...and may also purchase Fiber Accelerator after I tested it more...Keep up the great work

Can you explain exactly what settings this changes on the fly? It sounds very interesting

I must be one of the chosen few. With the accellerator my terrain is a blurry mess (and I get stutters).Without it it's  fine.I flew eglc-egll egll-eglc with the vrs hornet and it all looked bad. :-(

I flew in the A2A Cherokee through Aerosoft Manhattan with Orbx thunderstorms weather setting and REX 4 clouds, all sliders to the right except for water, and got a steady 30fps. That is nothing short of miraculous.

I have repeated the same thing with Orbix PNW scenery while flying through Seattle. Again, that is amazing.

I did get some graphics anomalies when flying south of Seattle. Some of the trees grew to infinite height, then returned to normal, then the process repeated a few times. Is this an issue with the ORBX scenery or is it something that might be being caused by the new program?

Other than that one caveat, I am delighted.

New demo (v1.1) resolved my problems with Windows 7 x64 and .Net Framework 3.5.1!  I was finally able to try this, with the following results:

1)  At KLGA Rwy 31, Gray and Rainy Weather Theme, DX9, FSX Settings nearly maxed out - without fiber accelerator 12 to 15 frames per second, with fiber accelerator (max. fps set at 30, and lowest fps set at 18) got 16 to 19 frames per second.  Took off and flew to KJFK - similar results and fairly smooth flight, without much degradation in scenery quality.  Looks like it works as advertised for this scenario!

2)  Without changing the settings in fiber accelerator, I changed the aircraft location to KSYR Rwy 33 and Fair Weather Theme.  Without fiber accelerator, I get a consistent 29 to 30 frames per second, and smooth flight (frames locked in FSX at 30).  With fiber accelerator on (same settings as scenario 1 above), the frame rate drops to 19 to 20 frames per second!  I'm not sure why this happens?  Maybe the accelerator is actually changing some of the parameters to levels more aggressive that what is in my fsx.cfg (e.g., higher LOD radius, etc).  Of course, this is purely speculation since I don't know exactly how the software works.

I was hoping that this software would improve performance in high demand scenarios like sample 1 above, without negatively impacting performance during lower demand situations.  However, for my system, this does not appear to be the case.

Cheers,

Gerald

I did test this once more for good , all i'm getting is some increase in FPS with a sacrifice of graphics. Ground textures are blurry. And for some reason accelerator adjustment slider is stuck to 11 so i can't adjust it?  No-go for this one now....

I'm happy with my performance without this addon. Thanks anyway..
