October 18, 201411 yr Commercial Member Captains- Tonight we have released another Service Pack for the 777 fleet. This update addresses some items that surfaced with the original SP1 update, and addresses some other various cleanup items that we wanted to tend to in the near term with the 777. This update brings some further refinements to the Autopilot Flight Director System, the Flight Management System, the Flight Control System, some changes to various other items that we felt might benefit from a bit of polish. It also brings further optimizations to the way in which the 777 uses information from the simulator in order to make it a bit more "bullet proof" against interference from outside applications. One of the key pieces (in fact- the primary force behind this update) was the fix to the "airplane wanders aimlessly during time accelerated flight" problem that we introduced with the release of SP1. This item took a monumental effort to resolve- and involved feedback from probably close to 100 of our customers via this forum and via technical support. I want to make it a specific point to thank all of you for your feedback and for your patience while we searched for something that really and truly defied logic. Many of you allowed us to install instrumented files onto your sim rigs so that we could collect data- and it was this cooperation that helped us find and kill this problem. So: Thank you! Okay- so installation instructions are quite simple: AUTOMATIC UPDATE VIA THE OPERATIONS CENTER: =========================================== 1) Launch the PMDG OPERATIONS CENTER. (Start/Programs/PMDG Simulations/PMDG Operations Center...) 2) Click the "Please Select a Product" tab and choose the PMDG 777. 3) In the menu tree, click VERSION. 4) Click on the "Download Update" icon for the 200LR/F and the 300ER (if you have that product installed) 5) It will take a few moments to download the update installer to your machine. 6) When the download is complete, double click the download icon and you will be presented with the contents of the downloaded ZIP file. Double click the update file you see there, and it will do the rest for you! 7) After the updates are completed, be sure to click on the wheel/message at the top of the OC and allow it to repair your aircraft.cfg livery entries. MANUAL INSTALLATION VIA DOWNLOAD: ================================= 1) A bit later tonight we will make the SP1C installers available via our downloads page on the website. 2) Download the update files, but don't run them yet! 3) While your files are downloading, run the PMDG OPERATIONS CENTER. This will allow the OC to create a current backup snapshot of your installed liveries and it will save you some heartache later if you have your own liveries installed that were done by hand. 4) Close the Operations Center, then run the SP1C update installers. (Or just the one if you only have the 200LR/F installed) 5) After you have completed the updates, run the PMDG OPERATIONS CENTER again, and follow the messages at the top to re-apply all of your liveries. We hope you have an enjoyable weekend of 777 flying coming up! On a slightly different note- but sure to check in with the forum during the week next week. We have a bunch of news to share with you- most of which we think you will be quite happy about. Thanks again for all of your support of our work- now go enjoy the 777! Robert S. October 18, 201411 yr Congrats on this milestone! And just (about) in time for FS2Crew, too. The 777 has come a long way. B) Will you also have a changelog for this release?
October 18, 201411 yr Thank you for the update, Captain. p.s. I would like my 747 v.2 now Ben Weaver SWA8485
October 18, 201411 yr Thanks team - nice work with the OPs Centre download....just need to see a 'per file' update implementation next hmm that probably needs an acronym for you to remember how about PFUS
October 18, 201411 yr O.K., so it is out, now for the serious issues and delays that PMDG do not want to admit to: 1-Please stop hiding behind sp's, the queen is in production, P3D, and ...... excuses and confess to the fact that you are technically unable to release the Woodpigeon and all its glorious technology as it is intended. I know it is an extremely complex beast, but if you try hard, you never know, and we may be able to accept a few compromises on the sound files to make it easier for you guys to finish and finally release. 2- Where is my A380 with the coffee brought to me by the flight attendant option? 3- Where is my 797-500? WHAT? Not in production yet? Not on the drawing board either you say? That is your excuse? Man and Woman up boys and girls (need to be politically correct here), and stop giving us excuses please. 4- And this one is a personal one, what is with the functioning WXR option? (Dubai gets about 2-5 days of "Light" rain a year so get real). You need to work with the weather dev. teams to come up with "Sandstorm, and sand particle" detection radar so I can see something on this fancy WXR option you added last time around when i fly in or out of here. Finally, thanks for the update, and heads up on this week's upcoming info avalanche, even though I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE SP INSTALLATION (Look into it pronto please). :Just Kidding: Waleed N
October 18, 201411 yr Commercial Member And just (about) in time for FS2Crew, too. It's actually best that FS2Crew for the 777 is delayed a few days. Releasing at the same time as SP1C could be overload for some users. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
October 18, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member Waleed- I have answered your many posts on this topic, your 22 letters, 3 fedex packages and at least two demand notices that you sent to our office via Bike Courier. I have been up front with you about the problem we are having finding a developer who can properly simulate the proper grain count on the spruce wood used for the wing spars, and unless/until we can find that proper simulation value- this project just isn't going to make forward progress. We have been completely up-front about this shortcoming, and while two guys appeared in this forum (Both beta testers for one of our competitors) who claimed to know that such modeling was simple, the reality is that it is not. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the WoodPigeon- but I assure you that nobody wants to see this project released more than we here at PMDG. Your continued patience is appreciated. B) Robert S. October 18, 201411 yr Hi I complied with the Automatic update as above, however, I am left with no panels at all, some instruments are visible on black backgrounds. Whilst I am still testing it, I also find the undercarriage will not retract. Any similar problems or suggestions as to the way forward? Rob Rob Payne
October 18, 201411 yr most of which we think you will be quite happy about. Thank you for both the update and the news...but this sounds ominous, "most of which", meaning some we won't? Ian R Tyldesley
