MyTraffic V6 for P3D inbound

Featured Replies

I like MyTraffic for what it does, it populates my FSX/P3D airports with minimum fuss. I think Burkhard makes a great addon, with a somewhat less than intuitive interface, and he sells it for a very fair price.

WOAI is wonderful, I just don't have the patience or time to use it. If I feel the need for some very specific aircraft/flight that MyTraffic doesn't provide, I add it myself using AIFP.

EDIT: or sim.cfg if that is what is present. For some reason I couldn't edit that last post.   Here's a comparison:   B737-700 FAIB:     B737-800 My Traffic:     At the same AI LOD, the

Yep, what I'm after if I go with MT is the ease having all those models without all the manual hassle. My main concern is I wanted to make sure the majority of models if not all look OK at night since that's been an issue with the IVAO MTL models.

Here's an example of the problem and as you can see the logos are missing during night.

Here are a couple of MyTraffic tails at Kastrup for ya.

meaning they will look good both during day and night?

Looking good is incredibly subjective, they will however work in both day and night in P3d. Nothing you can do to make those models look good though.

That's why I said it's subjective, but it's also probably safe to say everyone's opinion if they saw them side by side with AI models that DO look good.  The MyT models are at best, mediocre.

...in your opinion.

You want better models and textures? Then pony up the VAS and, possibly, the frames.

"Because with great power, comes great responsitriligence..."

You gotto love the analogy of the 'oval' train set. That did make me smile. However, it's so very true. I have MT6 and it fills up my airports and if I goto a new airport ive never landed at, it has planes with liveries ive not seen before. En-route, I see other planes passing by, just as you do in real life. I don't have a clue what the passing plane is or if it should have passed by en-route when it did, just as I have no clue about the planes at the gate or those lining up to take off or land. In a way, I'm an oval track guy.

I whole heartedly agree that I would prefer it if I could say that the plane landing, taking off, at the gate or passing en-route is acctually what would be happening in the real world right now. Or at least as close to it as I could get. Also the model would have to look good on close inspection. Just as in real life, I could go out and buy the best oval track layout. I couldn't go out an buy the full on 20sqr meter layout. I'd have to make it. Or, in our case, spend days downloading WOAI which I have (and weeks going through the flight plans, which I havent) and whoes models do look good but MT6 gives me more traffic at 20% than WOAI ever did with better performance on my system.

This is why this hobby is so cool, we can all do what we can to make the part of the hobby we like as good as it gets for us. The full on AI enthusiasts and us oval track guys need to live in harmony. I'd love the full on AI I just don't have the time right now, so buying what's out there and available for my sim, is a step in the right direction and a better place than not having it at all.

Let me put it this way. I've been to EGCC on a Sunday afternoon to watch the planes land. Just getting a parking spot is a challenge. I get as much pleasure out of it as the guy next to me who has his binoculars, notebook and radio together with his gullet fold up seat, sanwhiches and flask of coffee.

Very well said. I'm exactly the same. When fun times need too much upfront planning (or other hazzle) I tend to be stressed and have much less enjoyment than when choosing the simple option with less preparation. Reading on AVSIM you can get the impression that a lot of people are obsessed with the "as real as it gets" stuff. But in the end, it's still running a toy train around the track. Whether it's an oval one or a 20 sqr meter layout with all bells and whistles. I prefer to take it easy and enjoy the flying even of it's not "real". But to each his own...

PS: I like MT6 a lot. Less hazzle and better performance than WOAI.

From reading some of the posts where people were having what seemed to be catastrophic  problems installing My Traffic 6 for P3d, I almost decided to not purchase it. Then I found a tutorial on how to install it in P3D, and it sounded so simple, a 10 year could could most likely follow it with no problem. I then decided to purchase My Traffic 6, and after downloading it, and looking at the tutorial and following the very simple step by step directions, I had it up and running in about 5 minutes. This is the one of the easiest add on programs to install in any sim program I have owned.  And it looks great, and no major impact on frame rates. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/79212-p3d-v2-users-simple-installation-instructions-for-mt6/

I downloaded the tool, but now I am trying to locate the P3D 2.5 scenery config file and can't find it. On the P3D site it states that it is located in the User Data section in  LM Pd3, but it isn't there.    C:\Users\(user name here)\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

Then I read it is supposed to be in  the P3D main program files folder, but it isn't there either. Any know the correct path?

The .cfg file is located here.

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2
