July 21, 201510 yr Some people are Legends in heir own mind. Vic That is an awesome quote (too funny). I am so going to use it. Thanks How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

July 21, 201510 yr Yes I did submit my resume and they politely declined saying I was overqualified and too visionary for their capabilities,.. That's a novel way to reject some one! Gerry Howard
July 21, 201510 yr Wow, we are all fortunate to have such expertise in our midst. B) Ah..... I have only heard stories of this "Ron" character. Exciting to finally see the belittling sarcasm first hand. Like watching a live Kanye West concert. Seriously, he is a customer. Maybe with impractical expectations of the capabilities of the platform, but he is entitled to his expectation that this "next gen" sim platform that so many tout as being "better" than FSX would actually do so. Sadly, other than the eye candy, the platform has proved to have little performance benefit on modern hardware than the former. Guess that's what happens when a small simulation community puts faith in a multi billion dollar defense conglomerate. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
July 21, 201510 yr All in good fun. By now everyone that's been around awhile here pretty much fully understands all the pros and cons of P3D as it's been discussed here ad nauseum. Improvements since 2.3 have been modest at best and IMO it's pretty much stuck where it is until DX12 and 64 bit come into play. Wake us up when this happens, and for now I do appreciate having what I have w/ P3D. July 21, 201510 yr No biting intended folks. If anything, here's hoping the comments are helping folks appreciate what actually is in place rather than pressuring LM to provide the "pie in the sky" expectations of a few.
July 21, 201510 yr Seriously, he is a customer. We are all customers that doesn't mean we know how to develop a flight simulator - any more than we know how to develop a car engine. A multi billion dollar defense conglomerate will react to the needs of its commercial customers - not to the needs of a small simulation community Gerry Howard
July 21, 201510 yr If anything, here's hoping the comments are helping folks appreciate what actually is in place rather than pressuring LM to provide the "pie in the sky" expectations of a few. Come on Ron, 64-bit software is a "pie in the sky" expectation? A multi billion dollar defense conglomerate will react to the needs of its commercial customers - not to the needs of a small simulation community Gerry, what you say is, of course, completely true. but do you really believe that out of all LM's commercial P3D customers, even the least geekiest of the lot, that not a single one of them has said 'oh, it's 32-bit? any chance of a 64-bit version in the future?' to which the LM Rep has replied 'nope'? July 21, 201510 yr All in good fun. "Improvements since 2.3 have been modest at best" Spot on Noel at best might be being kind - but the alternative is unacceptable at least for me Rich Sennett
July 21, 201510 yr If anyone in here works for a flight school - you can come very handy We need that person to complain to LM stating that their Commerical Sim's are having VAS issues and need to be fixed asap. We hobbyist just need to proxy our suggestions through LM's commercial partners. We as a group can buy beer for our commercial friends. Beer solves lot of communication problems between friends, or business clients etc. How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

Lockheed Martin has always said 64-bit is on the "roadmap." Lockheed Martin will deliver it if sufficient of its commercial customers need it. Also, geeks general don't control company's policies. Geeks don't decide whether companies will when to use Windows 10 - free or not. Gerry Howard
July 21, 201510 yr A multi billion dollar defense conglomerate will react to the needs of its commercial customers - not to the needs of a small simulation community Which underscores prior comments I've made that we are in essence paying beta testers for their commercial base, which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but I've lost interest in that myself, hence I've stuck w/ 2.3 which works quite well overall. I do feel for the 3PDs who have to keep updating installers with every release. I've been waiting 3 years now for an installer for FTX KJAC, posted about this just a day ago at ORBX and was advised 'soon', after which I lost patience and followed another's suggestion he had good luck w/ EMT and KJAC. I did end up doing that whereupon FTX Central was corrupted beyond loading. Very fortunately for me rolling back to my last system restore point fixed FTX Central while at the same time KJAC is now installed. That's even more hassle than I'm interested in but alas, I lucked out and didn't need to do anything more exotic to fix the issue.
