king air - flight1 or milviz?

In Milviz defense, they did made it clear that you were buying an early access and it didn't guarantee a release date. I decided not to join the early access and I'm waiting patiently on the release. No biggie.

There is an issue of reasonableness. I think in the real world when someone purchases something for future release they think months not years. With most things if the release date is going to be that far ahead there should be some indication of an extreme protracted wait and if that was not stated upfront the buyers should be given options.

At some point in this "wait" the company should have at least informed customers of even a ballpark timeframe.

Wow, for someone who didn't participate in the early purchase program you sound awfully bitter. Most, if not all the folks of which I know that participated have been generally happy with the communications from Milviz (the communications that you aren't getting if you didn't participate.)

Maybe you are a psychic and know what I purchased.

For your information I purchased the program over a year ago and I have received all the updates and notices and at no time have I been given an inkling of when this thing would be complete.

No I'm not bitter. I just think the purchasers are being taken advantage of at this point.

"Why, he just jumped into the air and kept right on going."

I knew what I was getting when I pre purchased it.

It's flyable in its current state. We did get updated versions for a while but nothing in the past 6 months - I'm guessing that there is nothing to show because it's mostly coding so there's nothing to see but it would be nice to see a version with some night lighting in it.

Not too worried about it. I can't recall any MILVIZ products that they ever failed to deliver so I'm pretty confident we'll end up with something great in the end.

If you are a real KA freak , you'll probably end up owning versions from all 3 vendors anyways. The only reason I didn't get the F1 version initially was because of no P3D support. I still haven't picked it up because you have to pay full price for both FSX and P3D ( I still fly both sims)  A2A and MILVIZ are several of the few vendors that offer both versions as a package instead making you pay double.

I have had my issues with Milviz products and resulting support and somehow I have gotten over it. That after having two of my related threads here closed by Milviz staff.  But! First, the support attitude and tone has improved significantly over the past 12 months. Retrofit, mostly avionics, for some GA aircraft should have some other notable developers looking in the mirror, and embarrassed.

If you bought ($$$) into an Alpha project, then that's what you did. If you did not understand that then you should not have jumped. Early adoption creates much of the negative posts here as far as aircraft models are concerned.

With the issues I had with two Milviz aircraft, one has been fixed and I was offered a refund on the other. A refund offer 18 months after my purchase. I did not feel right to claim that refund. My issue with that model was unique to a small handful of customers.

the issue I see with all this is that I now wonder if Milviz can or will complete this product, constantly introducing new products change,s a companies focus to the new add on,s with the old one being ignored or left behind and becoming a pain in the a--e to the developers and maybe being cobbled together just to stop people moaning on forums,I purchased this add realizing what it was,but did not expect to wait for ever for it to be completed, sadly due to  the lack of communication and no updates for around 6mth I think the product has become a pain in the a--e for Milviz I do not think I will bother to support Milviz in the future

We communicated to you three days ago as to our status.

As well, let's be clear: Bill (aka n4gix), Tomas and Collin are working FULL time on this project. So it's not dead or vaporware.

We have communicated this to our buyers on a regular basis.

There are reasons for the delay in releasing this but... I am not yet ready to explain what those are.

Please contact oisin at milviz dot com for forum registration information.  Please provide proof of purchase if you want support.  Also, include the username you wish to have.

I'm certain that the efforts of the Milviz team are going to be well worth the wait, I'll be a day one buyer.

I own both the Flight 1 B200 and the Milviz B350i.

The Flight 1 B200 King Air is excellent with great system modelling. It hand flies extremly well and is a very stable IFR platform. The Blackhawk conversion makes the performance spectacular. I highly recommend this aircraft. The Milviz B350i is not finished yet but it is also a joy to fly. It gives you the strong impression that it will be a superior product when completed. The Milviz King Air is better on frame rates than the Flight 1 King Air on my system with an I7 4770K Haswell processor. But both always have acceptable frame rates and fluid flight. I too am concerned that there has not been a updated build released in 6 months. We used to get updates on a regular basis.

I feel the bottom line is that the Flight 1 B200 is now and will remain the best B200 King Air simulation available. That being said I also feel that the Milviz B350i will be the best B350i simulation available. If you want a finished product now buy the Flight 1 B200. If you are a King Air fan you will also want the Milviz B350i. You might as well buy it now as you can get a better price and see the promise of what is to come. The avionics, systems and flight models are different so they are not the same aircraft. I truly recommend both.

I too have both the Flight1 and the Milviz King Air...

They are too different in my opinion to compare. If you like the King Air range, you will want both anyway in my mind.

I have not used the Milviz much, as I find too much unfinished for me to get a lot of enjoyment out of it at this stage. I am sure it will be a good addon when it does get released. I see no point in them rushing it out just to appease naysayers. Best they do it to their best ability...

The Flight1 B200 is quite a beast. I bought it once, returned it (because it was too much of a system hog at first for me), then re-purchased it a few months back. Performance is okay, the G1000 has quite a performance hit I feel, but it is still within my limits. My only real beef with it is the dusk lighting. The VC lighting other than the dome light has no effect during the daytime, unlike A2A/RealAir and so on. This means that the dome light becomes vital in being able to see things during dawn/dusk. A number of addons exist with this time dependency of lighting and it really bugs me. Night flying is fine, as is daytime...

Other than that, the G1000 is fairly quick to learn, once you understand what I feel to be the quirks. OK, it is not a 100% sim of a G1000, then again, it doesn't cost what a G1000 would in real life...

If you take into account the age of the F1 B200, then you actually get quite a nice package. If they were to upgrade it to modern methods/lighting, 3D propellor visualization from the side (aka A2A/RealAir), then it would indeed be a modern top addon. As it remains, it is a top addon, just beginning to show its age a little...

What is outrageous is how many people are fussing at Milviz who didn't even buy the alpha. In fact, those that did buy it are mostly not fussing because of the many updates and the fact that whatever it is called...alpha, beta, pre-release...it is quite polished and mostly complete at this point, as has been said by a number of people who actually have bought it in this thread.

Forums are strange places sometimes.

Have you asked for a refund? Otherwise you have no recourse or complaint for continuing to fall for their "fleece".

Milviz gives refunds? Wish someone told them when I purchased a product that advertised Reality XP support but then on install had major issues with the RXP retrofit.

I own the Milviz B350i and I am a real world King Air pilot. I purchased the Milviz product due to it being Pro Line 21 equipped and I have a particular interest in that avionics setup. First the Milviz product is an Alpha pre-release. As a customer you get updated copies of the product when Milviz decides to release the next version, which is much less then their Beta team gets. Currently, the latest Alpha is six months old and for a few customers, myself included, it cannot be used due to frequent G2D.dll CTD errors. Milviz has made no attempt to work with customers experiencing this problem to try and find a solution and instead hopes it will go away with the next version as the code is optimized. Who knows if this next version will be released in six months, a year, two years... Meanwhile I own a license to $50 worth of code that will guarantee to send my version of FSX:Steam crashing.

On the plus side, on those few moments when CTD has not happened right away, it is a very good simulation of a B350. The exterior and interior look great with high quality paint. I can almost complete an exterior preflight on this airplane and find 80% of the items I check with the remaining items either hidden or under panels. The back end looks like an executive interior with all of the bells and whistles of Beech's top of the line King Air. The front end, the office, is also well apportioned. When you start flicking switches I find most of them behave properly, however more than a few seem either dummy switches or their functionality is not completed at this point. You can easily get through normal checks bring the bird to life, but abnormal and maintenance checks are not 100% accurate.

Lining up on the runway, the big -60 engines haul you sky-bound in predictable B350 distance and time and climb to altitude all feel about right. I cannot really comment on direct climb to the upper 20s lower 30s as the reality of flying a turboprop is you never get that clearance. Having turbine engines twisting props for your thrust means slower climb speeds with even the old Slowtation taks a front seat in the climb to altitude race. Once ATC has moved all of the fast traffic above you then the King Air gets to climb to the flight levels. Once in the flight levels you find another problem with the Milviz product in the propeller simulation is slightly off. Propeller RPM and power level movement seems combines. I can't completely blame Milviz on this one as I have seen this same problem on a number of turborprops in MSFS. It seems the crew and ACES understood how a propeller attached to a piston engine worked, but never got the concept of a free turbine. As such N1 and N2 are inexplicably tied together in ways that don't follow real world operations. Don't get me wrong here, there are times N1 and N2 are ties, such as when the propellers are on the low pitch stops and during a stuck propeller. But in most normal operations, the propeller governor controls N2 (prop) speed and the power levers control N1 (gas generator) speed.

Fuel burn seems about right and the limited Pro Line 21 setup does an excellent job of guiding the aircraft along. The autopilot still has some work needed, but is capable in its current format. The choice of the Universal UNS-1F (not a W as Milviz claims, as there is no such thing as a straight W FMS, however there is an Fw, but since the Milviz version does not have WAAS that would be incorrect) is unique and leaves some question on integration of the FMS with the Pro Line 21. I have never flown this type of setup before so you have me when it comes how should these avionics cooperate. I know what the Universal UNS-1F is capable of and what the Pro Line 21 is capable of but how should features really work together is puzzling. For approach realize that if you want vertical guidance you have to use an ILS as it seems that the UNS-1F will not transmit an FMS vertical profile to the Pro Line 21. Thus a PGS for a nonprecision approach or LNAV/VNAV on a RNAV(GPS) approach are not within the capability of this avionics suite. However, this one area overlooked, the remainder of the approach capabilities are there from IAF, FAF, MAP and missed approach guidance.

Landing is typical of FSX aircraft with propeller drag missing completely. Thus despite pilot technique over the numbers you are constantly rewarded with a screech of the mains onto the runway. The King Air is not a difficult airplane to land, but I have still seen many a pilot with poor technique drop this bird ungracefully.

Overall, I would say that Milviz's Alpha is better than other companies final products. If you are part of the few who are effected by the CTD then this product will have far less usability. Hopefully the developer will take this CTD seriously sometime in the future. Given my $50 back again I would choose the F1 B200 over the Milviz B350, mostly because it is a more refined product, Flight1 has consistently made releasable upgrades, and Milviz has no time-line on when or if the B350 will become final. I also believe that Milviz's preview program leaves much to be desired, a little more rapid release schedule to the previewers would be the least this company could do.

I would love to see you give an in depth review like this of the Flight1 version.
