March 3, 201610 yr m BUT, with what degree of detail. That is the question. Most likely the same degree of detail as per the FSX base sim is at this moment, therefore allowing Orbx to sell us all there 64 bit detailed scenery, which will make money for DTG and Orbx, which is really what this new sim is all about, Peter
March 3, 201610 yr BUT, with what degree of detail. That is the question. Probably generally bland by our standards, with enhanced areas ? I think the novelty factor might hold us over in the short term - and the new lighting might do alot to create an entirely different feel. It's a two aircraft sim, so a wouldn't expect too much from the scenery.
March 3, 201610 yr So, my question is.... If we are getting the whole world, is it going to be the same, or similar to the default scenery that we got in a 'virgin' fresh FSX install? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
March 3, 201610 yr So, my question is.... If we are getting the whole world, is it going to be the same, or similar to the default scenery that we got in a 'virgin' fresh FSX install? Well there are alot of variables here. Are they updating vector data, mesh data? That's pretty important. From what Martin has been saying the textures will probably be new (aren't they showcasing something this week?)

Martin did say there will be some exciting news to share about the scenery in their upcoming flightsims. According to Martin the plan is to share that this week. March 3, 201610 yr Commercial Member I really hope that DTG is learning from TS2016 and not go down the same route with FS !!
March 3, 201610 yr That depends whether they are making massive amounts of money with the TS model or not. If they are, then don't expect big changes. They've made enough to expand their company, buy the rights to distribute FSX, create Flight School (while making a fishing sim) and simultaneously work on a new version of their train sim. And still have room to make DTG sim at the end of the year. That should tell us something....... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... March 3, 201610 yr I hope they make the flight school a real training environment with IFR training and what not... so it becomes a solid platform for flight school.. eye candy and whole world should be secondary importance A good performance with atleast 60FPS is important Not add eye candy at the expense of FPS and smooth flight for a trainer. The reason the have split this is for "specialization" . A training environment. It needs to do good job for that purpose. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

March 4, 201610 yr Forgive me if I have posted this before.. A reality check!! My question asked was: "But it will be interesting as far as add-ons go, & where they are to be found. So, if we get the sim from Steam, are we then limited to Steam DLC's, & will the same apply to the Windows Store downloads?" Martin answered: " Whichever platform you choose to use your purchases will be registered with them accordingly. This means that content for one platform will not work or transfer to another. Think of it like this, you have game A for your iphone, you can't use that same game on your Android phone. Likewise if you have game A for your Xbox One you can't use it on your PS4. This is because there are a few key differences between Steam and the Windows Store, including the big one - DRM - Martin " This raises a lot of questions & we then MUST be careful where we decide to get the game. I'm waiting for an answer for the following.. " Hi Martin, I have a problem with your answer. We are not comparing operating systems here, we are comparing distribution outlets for a game, so, a comparison between 2x on-line stores will be more applicable? Another concern is that will there be the exact same content available from the two outlets you will be using? It will be a pity if developers choose one outlet over another, or will it be a condition that all content will be available from both? That brings us to freeware. As you said, the distribution 'platforms' are different how will this impact the freeware guys? Or will all additional content be vetted by DTG? " I think this could be a serious concern as to where we find our add-ons, based on where we get the game. No wonder there are worries about SDK's etc Robin "Onward & Upward" ... March 4, 201610 yr Great post. Idk how people can expect all that for the base game. I'm thrilled and excited at what dovetail is doing. And all I want is them to create a stable platform with good physics, lighting, and atmosphere, that will give the 3rd party developers the ability to deliver add ons with features that were not possible in FSX/P3d
