Honestly did not know that.

Thanks,

Rob

That's why you need to research both products carefully before jumping on a band wagon. Once they are both available we will only then be able to make proper decisions on which one meets our own personal needs the most.

A this point we only have features lists but no actual reports from consumers on how well they actually work.

Given REX'es history with weather engines it will be interesting to see if they have something on par with ASN or AS16.

The one thing that does worry me is that REX hasn't offered trial products with their weather engines in the past and I would be hard pressed to buy one of their weather engines without being able to have a free trial period first.

Cloud, clouds and more clouds....I purchased REX 4..."best textures ever", "developed from the ground up", and then came Soft Clouds when I thought I already had the best. And I had the previous versi

I'll wait for some reviews after it comes out. I looks like more of the same honestly.

  • Me too, i gave up on REX and the 14+ installers to bring it up to date, then try and integrate soft clouds and you have to uninstall again and restart because you went to far.....

ASN does that now(wave heights) in P3D and has for some time. Fly in a Tstorm with very high winds and fly close to the water. - scary with those big waves coming at you. AS16 does sky and cloud changes in real time.

So does the REX engine ;)

Lets wait and see. I will try AS16 (they offer a 7-day demo). If I like what I see with ASCA and AS16, I will go for it. I will not fly without a WXR for my PMDG aircraft again.

I'm really looking forward to this

I've been using the Rex essential weather engine since it came out and it's excellent, this is a whole new ball game and i'm sold already.

Is that a Tornado touching down in photo 5,if it is does any other weather program  do that as well??

Oh and, wow.

Oh my gosh, what are you doing REX? When this is released, this will be my face :Big Grin:

I look forward to more info on how this will all work within our sims.

REX has said in their forums that they expect their new product to work with PMDG WXR Radars.

LOL! I guess Rich is more than just your first name!!

I do agree though and have done so many times on many competitive products. Sometimes "mixing and matching" gives the best bang for the buck!

having a funnel cloud texture makes for a cool screenshot but how do these tornados act

I am curious with that one.. that and the rain micro burst (I think I saw a screen shot of that too)...  If I fly Cessna 172, would It flip my aircraft? If it behaves like that...that would be awesome!

While I too think that a Tornado would be awesome, I hope that they aren't sitting at the bottom of every Cumulobimbus cloud in P3D. They should be quite rare and last for only a few minutes like the majority of times in real life. Hopefully, we'll only see them if a metar reports +FC(tornado).
